    ▶ABOUT PLANTED IN THE GARDEN
    We are Char and Marv
We are gardeners from Toronto on a mission to inspire others to grow their own food-no matter experience or space available. We completely fell in love with growing a garden not only because we get fresh, homegrown food but we also cultivate a deeper connection to where our food comes. That same joy is then shared with our family, friends and community.
Our gardening journey has allowed us to grow on windowsills, a balcony garden, community gardens, to a thriving backyard garden jungle. When our summer season ends, gardening never stops for us. We found a way to keep on growing indoors, using a garage grow tent, hydroponics, laundry room and even a basement grow room. We just love to experiment and to try new things. We hope to show you that anyone can grow their own food, no matter where you are. Year-round gardening is truly possible, even in Canada or around the world!
We believe in simple, wholehearted living, loving what you do and doing it with love! Thank you for joining along with us on this gardening journey.
We appreciate you taking the time to watch our video. Let’s all grow and eat more plants! ♡

Thank you so much for this video because I don’t have a lot of confidence and I so much want to have a garden this coming year I don’t know how to save your video to my phone but I’m gonna try I just am so grateful because well I don’t have a lot of money so I can’t afford to go out and buy all that fancy planting stuff you have but I’m gonna try to figure something out that I can use in place of that and just try to plant what I can do but it was very informative and I appreciate it more than you could know

Seeds can be started in old milk cartons cut in half, then just add soil. Plant out when bigger. Cardboard boxes work for half a grow season as makeshift pots if you don't soak them and make them break down. Buy as you need things. Compost veggie scraps and use as fertilizer. Plant out the veggie seeds from shop bought veggies. You can do all of this very low budget.😊

Happy to hear that you found this informative. Honestly, there are other ways to seed start to save you on cost and you don't necessarily need these if it's not ideal for you. The best way to save on cost is by using what's available to you like recyclable food containers, drink cartons or paper towel end rolls. For worm castings, you can make a bin with simple tote or buckets which will give you free organic high quality compost💚

I really appreciate and enjoy these longer videos when you have the time. It's always nice to see different gardeners process of seed starting and understand what works for them. Thanks for sharing this information with us, as always! Oh, I also love that plant stand with the grow lights! Was that also a custom build? 🫶🏾🌻

We definitely agree that there are so many ways to seed start and finding what works for you is a great way to make gardening easier for you. The plant stand is something that we custom built last year.

I love your videos. I love the color, sounds, and I love that you explain everything. I’m a very weak gardener and now that I’m getting older I want the beds to be raised so I don’t have to bend as much. I will be using lots of your ideas. Thank you for this kindness.

It really depends on what you need and you don't necessarily need to use this specific items, we find this works for us and it's been the most durable seed tray we've come across.
