The fanbase was big enough to save it after season 3. I kinda like how hard the barrier for entry the expanse is. That first season man, for a newbie, is so dense with info and has realistic physics we've not seen before and it's a lot to take in. I personally had two goes at it and only kept watching at the behest of my friend hassling me. I'm glad he did as watching the end of season 1 and onwards weekly was an incredibly memorable experience. Getting your head around zero g, mag boots, thrust gravity, spin gravity and planet gravity....... it's too much hard work for the old noodle for some people. But for those willing to dive in and learn it...... it's incredibly rewarding. It's the greatest show ever made...... people just don't know it yet.

The first season was quite heavy going with all of the world building, dialogue-heavy politics, character development and some of the secondary plots on Ceres, such as Havelock's arc which didn't really work. But I did find myself getting caught up in the Julie Mao arc which is what kept me going. I also loved the grounded physics without typical sci-fi 'magic' technology such as artificial gravity or energy weapons/shields. Devices such as the Epstein Drive or Autodoc seem perfectly plausible for a couple of centuries in the future.

I skipped on watching this show for years, then a month ago decided to binge. I'm not crazy into scifi but this is on of the greatest shows ever made. I couldn't have got in at a better time. Season 6 is almost here, and I'm HYPED.

The expanse will be known to be one of the greatest sci-fi shows ever created. I simply can’t get enough of the show. The characters, the visuals, the story. Just an amazing piece of art.
@@sabrevanson4412 It's a pretty awkward place to end the story really. I'm assuming they will wrap up the Inaros storyline but everything else with the gates and the aliens that made the gates doesn't get addressed until books 7 - 9 and they are ending the series on book 6.
The author of the series also wrote a series of novellas that provide more details and backstories to the world of the Expanse. I think some of those novellas would provide for some interesting content. They wouldn't necessarily have to jump forward in history to the last 3 novels but could tell those stories.
The Expanse can proudly stand with side by side with great Television shows like Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, Dr Who, Babylon 5, Space Above and Beyond, Stargate. Thank you Syfy and Amazon productions.
I LOVED Battlestar Galactica, but those shows don't belong in the same category as The Expanse. The attention to detail that takes place in The Expanse puts it in a completely other category, even if some of the other shows have the same serial story flow that holds you in by abandoning episodic garbage that we grew up with. It's like Daniel Craig bond. Those movies did everything in their power to say "this could be real", as long as you suspend disbelief of intelligence gathering agencies accuracy and predictions that those movies laughably portrayed.
@@HitomiAyumu BSG required suspension of disbelief on every level. The Expanse required very little suspension of disbelief. BSG reboot will always have a spot in my "GOAT" collection, but it's nothing compared to the realism of The Expanse.
All of those shows were good for their respective eras but honestly none of them can hold a candle to The Expanse. Babylon 5 might have come close if it didn't have to do 22 episode seasons on a tiny budget.
The fact that this trailer was out for a whole day and I had no idea is the biggest problem with the Expanse. It's not promoted half as well as other shows of this caliber. It makes me really concerned that other Amazon originals like Carnival Row and the Legend of Vox Machina are going to be neglected in the marketing department too. This show needs to do well enough that they get the ball rolling on finishing the series some how. I think a trilogy of animated features in the vein of Arcane would be epic. But without enough hype around it that's just a pipe dream.
It's because Amazon knows how to run a webservice, but not how to build excitement and cultural relevance. You see it also within their gaming division. It's sad, because this show has so much potential and the production is just awesome. They really fumble it on marketing and publicity
It is frustrating. Expanse is the best scifi around right now, and I’ve not seen any posters, billboards, adverts, or anything else. Even on Amazon adverts that have shows like The Boys on them, no sign of The Expanse.
It's a weird situation. Amazon doesn't really own the show, Alcon does. Amazon is essentially just the distributor, so they don't put their heart and soul into marketing it like they do their other high-profile shows aka The Boys. AMZN won't even send a dang email to their customers who have already watched the previous seasons.
Yeah ... Maybe because Amazon is just the show's exclusive broadcaster, they seem little involved in production ... and Amazon prefers to promote its own creations. Just a guess.
Hi! I know you may not read this, but I actually have an anime to recommend: Planetes. If you like hard, ultra-realistic sci fi, it's about space garbagemen. Basically, it's about members of an organization dedicated to cleaning up space debris to prevent kessler syndrome from stranding humans on earth. It's like if you mixed an office comedy with science fiction. I can't praise it enough thematically or content-wise.
"We're wounded, broken, trying desparately to keep ourselves going by pretending we are not" Exactly how the fans feel knowing that show is ending at book 6.
The show creators said when the news that the season 6 is the last one was new that they do plan on continuing the series, that this should be only a long break.
What makes this story great is the pacing. The overall arch is really simple, but it moves slowly which gives it time to create rich episodes full of characters and details. It all feels well planned and rhythmic.
@@TheChrisey Season 1's pacing was pretty slow, and it was only really seasons 2 and 3 where it actually had the pacing the show became known for. Season 6 is pretty well-paced so far though.
Guys we need to get at least 1 new person into the series each - there are 3 more books to adapt, lets show them that this is worth investing in further
I got both my brother's and little sister hooked, about 5 friends now watch the expanse cause it's literally all I talk about when we talk about series.

I feel like they've had a plan all along. They say final "season", so I've been thinking that maybe they were playing semantic games with us and will finish up with a movie or two on Prime. That last scene solidified it a little more for me.
best sci-fi series containing everything politics, action, romance, friction, acting, cinematography, character development freaking love it n every season just getting better n better (unlike many other series) can't wait
you forgot the science, stuff like calls and how it delays, gravity and the pressure on your chest the scenes on the famouse dwarf planets and moon that I like as a person who like Astronomy.
It's my favorite because it is a show that doesn't rely on themes like rape or infidelity, like most of today's entertainment seems to be obsessed with.
This show is such a landmark in the SciFi genre, like BSG, it's something that we can grasp, an universe that we can comprehend, forces that are tangible, strong characters, great use of politics… It will be terribly missed !
My favorite show, and what a beautiful, exhilarating and insane journey it was/is. I fell in love with the setting, the world building and most of all the characters. I will miss them the most. Holden and crew (special mention to Amos), Bobby, Drummer and the amazing Avasarala will always have my heart. So well realized from page to screen, complex and nuanced and each not without their faults, which is what made them so special to me. I can't believe it's about to end. I hope they somehow find a way to tell the whole story, it deserves to be seen. Great trailer as usual and I can't wait for December.
As a connoisseur of epic hard-sci fi sagas going way back, Clarke, Asimov, Bear, et al, I find the narrative and visual depictions delivered by The Expanse to exceed the quality of anything previously presented on the screen.

The best sci-fi show of all time. No contest. Intelligent, great storylines, perfectly cast, stunning visuals that serve the story and aren't just there for showing off. Season 5 didn't work for me quite as well as the previous ones, but that's a matter of personal preference. I'm very much looking forward to Season 6.
Season 5's first 3 episodes were building story for the next episodes. E4 was the game changing... This episode was the most thrilled & devastating in whole series.. i was like how the hell this can happen
Because this is my favorite show of any kind of all time and because it had up until then set such a high standard, the overuse of hyper emotional dysfunctional family drama in season 5 was especially disappointing.
I don´t want this to end, all fans unite once again to make two more seasons possible. The source material is so strong and still has the oomph to go for miles !
This show was absolutely amazing. It should be as popular as Stranger Things, The Last of Us, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, etc. It deserved so much more! Sooo well written, special effects are on another level and the acting is superb. This show built a world I could see happening. For a sci-fi show it felt so realistic. Amazon needs to renew it! You guys are insane for not advertising it more.
I get so stoked for every episode that it brings a lil' tear to my eye everytime the theme plays. Thanks to everyone involved with this project. It'll be difficult to let this one go.
They have three more books to adapt. I know they say the series is ending, but there’s a 20 year time jump between the end of this season and the next book. I hope they come back.
I'm glad they are ending it. Sad maybe - it's a great show - but I'd rather a good show end at a good point rather than continuing forever. A good story has a climax.

@@elias_xp95 without the time jump the main antagonist of books 7-9 doesn't have enough time to become the threat it needs to be. You might be able to write around it for the Medina half of book 7, but the entire rest of the plot becomes a problem.
Luckily we’re getting an Expanse short story in March of 2022, but it will be sad to see it end. I’m just hoping against all hope that we won’t have to wait to long for an adaptation of the last three novels
Really just six seasons sad :( I did saw some of it on Netflix when back in the day was there but sadly those greedy bastards at Netflix cancel the new seasons and now after all this years is finally coming to a close since the first Episode dam ………the time and years really past fast this days.
@@jonathanreyes143 Netflix had not much to do with The Expanse. It was not a Netflix show, they just distributed it. It was a show from the channel Syfy and they cancelled it after three seasons. Then, Amazon picked it up
As a long time Star Trek fan, the Expanse's attention to science/physics details made Trek seem like simply fiction in comparison. Amazing show which deserves more than just 6 more episodes.
It's made _every_ other sci-fi series pale in comparison. I really hope it becomes a model for future shows - I am hooked on accurate space battles now.
Even a decades old Cowboy Bebop (and Planetes) has more science/physic than Trek. But, yea, it would be nice to see more than 6 episodes... but, sadly, we will then have just 1 book left.
And what helps is that it is a really believable possible future of mankind, to first expanding into the rest of the Solar System. Is a period of time seldom covered by other books or series, everyone just jump into hyperdrive/warpdrive eras like Star Trek, but not exploring this other era of pre-FTL travel. I really like sci fi with realistic physics and science like this show and books. Of course, taking apart the protomolecule stuff that seems more far fetched, but hey, who knows what's really out there lurking in the dark of space, right?
Star Trek has rarely been more than fiction. The number of things it got right or even theoretically possible pale in comparison to the number of things it invented out of thin air.
@@khymaaren I think the problem was the way ST was depicted, we never see them do things like proper orbital maneouvers in-show and that one time when Picard flew the D out of an energy syphoning asterioid belt using nothing but thruster power, gravity and innertia, it was kinda portrayed as something revolutionary even though it should be basic knowledge for any helmsmen.
This was an excellent series, one that I'll truly miss!! It appeared naturally diversified because of excellent casting👍 I loved all the characters. Unbelievable graphics so much so that after binge-watching I forget we can't actually venture out into space like that.
There has never been a finer sci fi story that took itself serious enough to be treated as an equal among all media. So much sci fi gets lost in sci-fi made up jargon - this show respects the physics of the real world while constructing some of the most wholesome, realistic characters i've ever seen. If you listen to "Ty and that Guy" podcast you'll totally understand , esp when Ty Franck talks with Wes about Amos's casting. How out of everyone who auditioned, only 2 people understood the character. Not a cliche muscle head, but a vulnerable , loyal man who needed a moral compass. This is a single example of a cast of tremendous characters. Thank you Amazon for giving this show a second life.
There is a bittersweetness in knowing that the final season of The Expanse is coming soon. It's surely one of the best science fiction shows ever released on television. I'll be watching all of the seasons over and over for years to come.

They have laid the groundwork for that with Cortazars last scene on Lakonia and the dutchman event at the end of S5 but I honestly think these three (while amazing in a different way) are VERY different from the first 6- and Time and care should be taken to get those on screen.
I'm watching it again over the Thanksgiving holiday. I try and watch them all before the new seasons start. It'll be sad with the show coming to an end. I watched Foundation season 1 on AppleTV and was rather impressed. Here's hoping Foundation can fill that need for Sci-Fi in the future.

Still the BEST Sci-Fi screen adaptation ever. I'm beyond happy that it got the ending it deserved. And with room for more in the second arc (please Amazon:?). So many good shows died early. This one carried it through the end and will be a classic for years to come.

Also, don't forget the final book in the series, Leviathan Falls, comes out Nov. 30th. The last season of the show is only going to cover the end of book 6 so if you really want to know what happens with the gate builders and that whole storyline you'll have to read books 7-9.

I've watched this show since 2014 way back when they first released the then future pilot episode and i was hooked, since then this has become the greatest sci-fi tv show of my generation, i sincerely do hope they choose to explore more of this universe and continue the journey through an amazingly deep and fulfilling story & characters as they do in the books
I've been speaking this shows praises as far and as wide as i can, i hate to see it end before it's true conclusion (following the books) but if this is the last season and it's as good as the last season was then I'm all for it
They've said that because of the timeskip and change in tone, they felt it better to adapt the last books as their own series, a sequel to this one. The last scene in the trailer is clearly there to tell us they're not writing off what happens on the other side of Laconia gate.
Spoiler warning. The 7th book states that because of anti aging meds, Holden and Naomi were only starting to get wrinkles in the corners of their eyes.
I'm so happy to see another season so imminent but I'm so sad to see the final arc isn't being carried forward. The last book releases on the 2nd of December and with that the written series ends too. Its been an incredible ride so far and if I can just get some solid visual media for the last trilogy then I'll be happy, especially if the same actors lend their voices to such a project.
The expanse is simply put, one hell of a way to bring people together on the internet. If other science fiction makers can learn from the expanses success and develop it, we could be upon a golden age of sci-fi strem cinema.
I love the series, really I do. But can I just state this. I hope this isn't the end of everything in this universe. Think of all the worlds, exploration, and so much more that have been left untapped in this show. I really hope there is some sort of exploration continuation for this story universe.
There will be. Seaon 6 wraps up the inter-planetary conflict that itself ends with book 6 of the show. But there are still 3 more books that deal with the protomolecule stuff, Laconia and the things that killed the ring builders. There’ll probably be a sequel series down the line
I've tried a few episodes, but just can't get into it. None of the characters click with me - I can't bring myself to care about anything that's happening on the screen. Is this a Season 1 problem? Is there an episode that you could recommend that will help me see why its fans love it?
@@RhenishHelm You need to watch the whole first season. It's slow (very) initially but it picks up pace and hooks you up until you don't binge the whole series in one go.

Season 5 was one of my favourite seasons. How beyond it all they created a new tension and kept it intense was phenomenal. And it was the first time we saw Avasarala in full action. Worth it all.
Don't be. The producers did a good job. It's left for us to watch it and reward their hardworking. Possibly the viewership might kindle interest in completing the series

It makes sense to end a tv series saying a kind of goodbye to our main characters, and possibly kick start a ‘spinoff’ for the sequel books and new personas to come. Looking forward to Adm. This is by far, the best series there is. If you haven't read the books, do so. It's a marvelous masterpiece. I hadn't read a book in years, then I gave Leviathan Wakes a shot, 8 books in, waiting for the 9th and final book coming in just a few weeks, hyped like a child the day before christmas.
I will read all of them as soon the final book is out. I had too many series in the past that were/are not completed. Most known is game of thrones. Won't make that mistake again :)
Ah, and one more thing i'm intrested in. When people are starving on asteroids for food and water supplies shortage, how strong they worry about their hairstyle? And how much money they spend on a dantists and cosmetology?) Im just curious, really.
@@kungjocke9446 Dont underestimate the gravity of these books. You sort of have trouble going to sleep while reading them and you suddenly realize, that it is 3 am again, and you have to wake up at 7, but you MUST finish this chapter. Next thing you realize, that the sun is up already.
I have never been so excited about every new seasons release of this masterpiece - and it never fails to disappoint. The actors, the production, the intensity all tuned to 11. - Just soooo sad to see it come to an end. I pray they make the remaining books and / or can replicate this special sauce in a spin-off (thought the character chemistry is part of what makes this show so good).
This is setting up to be one of the most exciting last seasons of any sci-fi show on television. Cannot wait to see what they have planned- you can see the seawall is breached in NYC, and there is all out war. SO EXCITING.
This looks incredible, I just don't understand why the last season? So far it was very faithful to the books, and it seems like it still is. There will not be anything close to satisfying ending. We need three more seasons.
That’s WHY it needs to take a break. The actors need to age up to sell the 30 year time jump to book 7. I think 7-9 deserve to be on the big screen too. There are anti aging drugs so 5 years will be enough time to age the actors.
In terms of the arcs, each 3 books have their own. And the last arc is way more complicated than the previous ones - time jumps, insane technology, a lot of new actors ( don't want to spoil anyone ) so it is difficult to follow. In the books it is easier because each trilogy has it's own topic/arc. In the show it has to be smoothed out, which is likely very difficult task. It is better to stop it after 6th book when there is a somewhat of a wrap up and stable situation achieved.

In our hearts, we know the show runners love this just as much as we do. I honestly believe we will get the conclusion on screen at some time in our lives. We waited decades for Jack to return. We shall wait more for the Expanse if we have to.

The Expanse isn't 100% accurate, of course, sometimes it's laughable in that regard - but it is way closer to the accurate end of the scale than just about any other sci fi production of this caliber and overall quality. Could be wrong, but I'm reading "so scientifically accurate" as a relative statement.
@@rickmartin7674 _The Expanse_ rightly gets praise because as a SciFi show it doesn’t invent tech explained through word salad, which fundamentally exists just to push the plot in the desired direction. There’s no superluminal travel but there is very fast fusion drive tech; but messages about some battle on the other side of the system can still take hours to reach the inner planets. No fantastical energy or laser weapons, but projectiles based on combustion, and rail guns. The limits on the human body of great acceleration or life in zero G is likewise addressed with a scientific imagination that isn’t plain fantasy. The builder ring-gate tech though preposterous happens in ways that humans struggle to even understand and it’s _admitted_ that it is completely beyond them, to either emulate or control. Indeed much of the drama comes from the ramifications of attempting to. But one glaring exception, to all of this, is the shoddy nature of the kit which the Belters supposedly use to survive and work in the vacuum, and the idea that it is possible to survive at all, in space, without a suit, even for a short period, is the most egregious example of something which actually is just used, to move the plot in the ways the authors want; turning science totally on its head in the process. Space suits today are still based on those used in Apollo because NASA’s attempt to make a new generation of them has kept hitting obstacles for over fifty years. The challenges are that gargantuan. In the vacuum of space it’s not simply the extreme cold that can kill a person in seconds but the total lack of any atmospheric pressure. Because the boiling point of water drops significantly with decreased pressure - regardless of static temperature. What that means is that, in a vacuum like space, the boiling point of any moisture drops below human body temperature... So, in the scene where Naomi jumps through a “hard vacuum,” from one ship to an another, in reality, all her blood would instantly start to fizz and bubble like an Alka Seltzer, which would kill anyone through an embolism in an instant. Just search UA-cam for “water boiling in a vacuum” at room temperature.

With human blood (notice unless its not leaking out of you its pretty well sealed off behind tissue, effectively a vaccuum seal of vessels and fat and skin and endothelial walls- although some exit points like lungs and eyes so those go first 👍 especially if there is a breath of air inside you) respiratory system its the same pressure differential in effect as deep sea divers might experience, and although that can be deadly rising up to surface there's quite a high likelihood of nonfatality...of course depends how long. Not very long. But not instantaneous.
This is why UA-cam’s recommended is broken. This is my favourite sci-fi show and I’m only just seeing this because I went looking! Didn’t even know the new season was out!

Pains me to see the best space sci Fi series of the last 15 years end after just 6 short episodic seasons. This feels as bittersweet as the premature end of Firefly. Long live the Rocinante crew!
I'm looking forward to this season, such a shame it's the last one though, this show has limitless possibilities like exploring other planets in the universe they could have at least 2 more seasons worth of content like in season 4 where the majority of episodes were centered on exploration elements and conflicts in Illus. It would be cool to know more about the aliens that created proto-molecule and other extraterrestrial life on the habitable planets instead of focusing only on Marco Inaros although I would love to see Holden and Naomi put a bullet in him.
I'd recommend reading the books. If you are not familiar with them, out of the 9 books it appears that the show will only cover 6. The last 3 books are almost completely emitted, perhaps for the best. If there is not enough budget for more seasons, I'd rather see them dropped than cramped into this one. Maybe someone will make a tv adaptation of the last books in the future.
I saw some article interview awhile back and someone who runs the show said it’s ending with Amazon but they wouldn’t be against keeping on going if someone else picked them up
@@freedapeeple4049 The books are separated into different story arcs. Book six concludes the largest arc of them all, which is why it makes for a natural pausing point. The final three books in the series, while very important, are also fairly stand-alone and take place several years after the events of book 6.

The fanbase was big enough to save it after season 3. I kinda like how hard the barrier for entry the expanse is. That first season man, for a newbie, is so dense with info and has realistic physics we've not seen before and it's a lot to take in. I personally had two goes at it and only kept watching at the behest of my friend hassling me. I'm glad he did as watching the end of season 1 and onwards weekly was an incredibly memorable experience. Getting your head around zero g, mag boots, thrust gravity, spin gravity and planet gravity....... it's too much hard work for the old noodle for some people. But for those willing to dive in and learn it...... it's incredibly rewarding.
It's the greatest show ever made...... people just don't know it yet.

The first season was quite heavy going with all of the world building, dialogue-heavy politics, character development and some of the secondary plots on Ceres, such as Havelock's arc which didn't really work. But I did find myself getting caught up in the Julie Mao arc which is what kept me going. I also loved the grounded physics without typical sci-fi 'magic' technology such as artificial gravity or energy weapons/shields. Devices such as the Epstein Drive or Autodoc seem perfectly plausible for a couple of centuries in the future.

I can only congratulate the amazing people behind this show, the actors, the writers, everyone. It is a masterpiece, in my opinion.

I skipped on watching this show for years, then a month ago decided to binge. I'm not crazy into scifi but this is on of the greatest shows ever made. I couldn't have got in at a better time. Season 6 is almost here, and I'm HYPED.

@@sabrevanson4412 It's a pretty awkward place to end the story really. I'm assuming they will wrap up the Inaros storyline but everything else with the gates and the aliens that made the gates doesn't get addressed until books 7 - 9 and they are ending the series on book 6.

Such a shame it’s not ending with Kas Anvar at the helm of the Rocinante. I know it’s all part of the storyline but I miss his character.

The author of the series also wrote a series of novellas that provide more details and backstories to the world of the Expanse. I think some of those novellas would provide for some interesting content. They wouldn't necessarily have to jump forward in history to the last 3 novels but could tell those stories.
The Expanse can proudly stand with side by side with great Television shows like Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, Dr Who, Babylon 5, Space Above and Beyond, Stargate. Thank you Syfy and Amazon productions.
I LOVED Battlestar Galactica, but those shows don't belong in the same category as The Expanse. The attention to detail that takes place in The Expanse puts it in a completely other category, even if some of the other shows have the same serial story flow that holds you in by abandoning episodic garbage that we grew up with.
It's like Daniel Craig bond. Those movies did everything in their power to say "this could be real", as long as you suspend disbelief of intelligence gathering agencies accuracy and predictions that those movies laughably portrayed.
The BSG reboot was... spotty.

@@HitomiAyumu BSG required suspension of disbelief on every level. The Expanse required very little suspension of disbelief. BSG reboot will always have a spot in my "GOAT" collection, but it's nothing compared to the realism of The Expanse.
All of those shows were good for their respective eras but honestly none of them can hold a candle to The Expanse. Babylon 5 might have come close if it didn't have to do 22 episode seasons on a tiny budget.
The fact that this trailer was out for a whole day and I had no idea is the biggest problem with the Expanse. It's not promoted half as well as other shows of this caliber. It makes me really concerned that other Amazon originals like Carnival Row and the Legend of Vox Machina are going to be neglected in the marketing department too.
This show needs to do well enough that they get the ball rolling on finishing the series some how. I think a trilogy of animated features in the vein of Arcane would be epic. But without enough hype around it that's just a pipe dream.

It's because Amazon knows how to run a webservice, but not how to build excitement and cultural relevance. You see it also within their gaming division. It's sad, because this show has so much potential and the production is just awesome. They really fumble it on marketing and publicity

It is frustrating. Expanse is the best scifi around right now, and I’ve not seen any posters, billboards, adverts, or anything else. Even on Amazon adverts that have shows like The Boys on them, no sign of The Expanse.
Never understand why Amazon ignores this show. Never seen an advert about The Expanse here in Italy, in TV or online. Such a shame.
It's a weird situation. Amazon doesn't really own the show, Alcon does. Amazon is essentially just the distributor, so they don't put their heart and soul into marketing it like they do their other high-profile shows aka The Boys. AMZN won't even send a dang email to their customers who have already watched the previous seasons.

Hi! I know you may not read this, but I actually have an anime to recommend: Planetes.
If you like hard, ultra-realistic sci fi, it's about space garbagemen. Basically, it's about members of an organization dedicated to cleaning up space debris to prevent kessler syndrome from stranding humans on earth. It's like if you mixed an office comedy with science fiction. I can't praise it enough thematically or content-wise.

The show creators said when the news that the season 6 is the last one was new that they do plan on continuing the series, that this should be only a long break.
The last scene in the trailer basically says it’s going to continue. Everyone who read the books knows that. So don’t be concerned :)
What makes this story great is the pacing. The overall arch is really simple, but it moves slowly which gives it time to create rich episodes full of characters and details. It all feels well planned and rhythmic.
It used to be fast pacing, which was its main strong point. Moving slowly is what made it much worse and less enjoyable after Amazon took over.
@@TheChrisey Season 1's pacing was pretty slow, and it was only really seasons 2 and 3 where it actually had the pacing the show became known for. Season 6 is pretty well-paced so far though.

The Expanse is my favorite show of all time by far. It's depressing that we won't get all 9 seasons but I'm grateful we got 6.
The Strange Dogs reference at the very end makes me think that this will entice the audience to petition for the story in the final three books and the mysteries of Laconia. What is this trailer not showing us. I can’t wait !!

I feel like they've had a plan all along. They say final "season", so I've been thinking that maybe they were playing semantic games with us and will finish up with a movie or two on Prime. That last scene solidified it a little more for me.
Just finished this series. This was one of the best SC-fi Tv series I've watched.
I have the engineers curse with most most scifi that leave my eyes rolling with too much suspension of disbelief. This series is soooo good.

the scenes on the famouse dwarf planets and moon that I like as a person who like Astronomy.
It's my favorite because it is a show that doesn't rely on themes like rape or infidelity, like most of today's entertainment seems to be obsessed with.
This show is such a landmark in the SciFi genre, like BSG, it's something that we can grasp, an universe that we can comprehend, forces that are tangible, strong characters, great use of politics… It will be terribly missed !
My favorite show, and what a beautiful, exhilarating and insane journey it was/is. I fell in love with the setting, the world building and most of all the characters. I will miss them the most. Holden and crew (special mention to Amos), Bobby, Drummer and the amazing Avasarala will always have my heart. So well realized from page to screen, complex and nuanced and each not without their faults, which is what made them so special to me.
I can't believe it's about to end. I hope they somehow find a way to tell the whole story, it deserves to be seen.

As a connoisseur of epic hard-sci fi sagas going way back, Clarke, Asimov, Bear, et al, I find the narrative and visual depictions delivered by The Expanse to exceed the quality of anything previously presented on the screen.

The best sci-fi show of all time. No contest. Intelligent, great storylines, perfectly cast, stunning visuals that serve the story and aren't just there for showing off. Season 5 didn't work for me quite as well as the previous ones, but that's a matter of personal preference. I'm very much looking forward to Season 6.
Season 5's first 3 episodes were building story for the next episodes. E4 was the game changing... This episode was the most thrilled & devastating in whole series.. i was like how the hell this can happen
Because this is my favorite show of any kind of all time and because it had up until then set such a high standard, the overuse of hyper emotional dysfunctional family drama in season 5 was especially disappointing.
I don´t want this to end, all fans unite once again to make two more seasons possible.
The source material is so strong and still has the oomph to go for miles !
This show was absolutely amazing. It should be as popular as Stranger Things, The Last of Us, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, etc. It deserved so much more! Sooo well written, special effects are on another level and the acting is superb.

They have three more books to adapt. I know they say the series is ending, but there’s a 20 year time jump between the end of this season and the next book. I hope they come back.

I'm glad they are ending it. Sad maybe - it's a great show - but I'd rather a good show end at a good point rather than continuing forever. A good story has a climax.

Given that certain elements have already been changed, I see no harm in changing the timeline to continue this amazing show. It’s heartbreaking to know this is it. I’m not ready to let it go yet. 😪
@@elias_xp95 without the time jump the main antagonist of books 7-9 doesn't have enough time to become the threat it needs to be. You might be able to write around it for the Medina half of book 7, but the entire rest of the plot becomes a problem.

Luckily we’re getting an Expanse short story in March of 2022, but it will be sad to see it end. I’m just hoping against all hope that we won’t have to wait to long for an adaptation of the last three novels
Really just six seasons sad :( I did saw some of it on Netflix when back in the day was there but sadly those greedy bastards at Netflix cancel the new seasons and now after all this years is finally coming to a close since the first Episode dam ………the time and years really past fast this days.
@@jonathanreyes143 Netflix had not much to do with The Expanse. It was not a Netflix show, they just distributed it. It was a show from the channel Syfy and they cancelled it after three seasons. Then, Amazon picked it up
As a long time Star Trek fan, the Expanse's attention to science/physics details made Trek seem like simply fiction in comparison.
Amazing show which deserves more than just 6 more episodes.
It's made _every_ other sci-fi series pale in comparison. I really hope it becomes a model for future shows - I am hooked on accurate space battles now.
Even a decades old Cowboy Bebop (and Planetes) has more science/physic than Trek. But, yea, it would be nice to see more than 6 episodes... but, sadly, we will then have just 1 book left.
And what helps is that it is a really believable possible future of mankind, to first expanding into the rest of the Solar System. Is a period of time seldom covered by other books or series, everyone just jump into hyperdrive/warpdrive eras like Star Trek, but not exploring this other era of pre-FTL travel. I really like sci fi with realistic physics and science like this show and books. Of course, taking apart the protomolecule stuff that seems more far fetched, but hey, who knows what's really out there lurking in the dark of space, right?
Star Trek has rarely been more than fiction. The number of things it got right or even theoretically possible pale in comparison to the number of things it invented out of thin air.
@@khymaaren I think the problem was the way ST was depicted, we never see them do things like proper orbital maneouvers in-show and that one time when Picard flew the D out of an energy syphoning asterioid belt using nothing but thruster power, gravity and innertia, it was kinda portrayed as something revolutionary even though it should be basic knowledge for any helmsmen.
This was an excellent series, one that I'll truly miss!!

There has never been a finer sci fi story that took itself serious enough to be treated as an equal among all media. So much sci fi gets lost in sci-fi made up jargon - this show respects the physics of the real world while constructing some of the most wholesome, realistic characters i've ever seen.
If you listen to "Ty and that Guy" podcast you'll totally understand , esp when Ty Franck talks with Wes about Amos's casting. How out of everyone who auditioned, only 2 people understood the character. Not a cliche muscle head, but a vulnerable , loyal man who needed a moral compass. This is a single example of a cast of tremendous characters.
Thank you Amazon for giving this show a second life.

There is a bittersweetness in knowing that the final season of The Expanse is coming soon. It's surely one of the best science fiction shows ever released on television. I'll be watching all of the seasons over and over for years to come.

They have laid the groundwork for that with Cortazars last scene on Lakonia and the dutchman event at the end of S5 but I honestly think these three (while amazing in a different way) are VERY different from the first 6- and Time and care should be taken to get those on screen.
I'm watching it again over the Thanksgiving holiday. I try and watch them all before the new seasons start. It'll be sad with the show coming to an end. I watched Foundation season 1 on AppleTV and was rather impressed. Here's hoping Foundation can fill that need for Sci-Fi in the future.

The Expanse is the most incredible masterpiece of science fiction I've ever watched. I'm going to miss it.
It's December 14th & I'm just now seeing this trailer for the first time. Amazon, you guys gotta market better, this show deserves it.
Also, don't forget the final book in the series, Leviathan Falls, comes out Nov. 30th.
The last season of the show is only going to cover the end of book 6 so if you really want to know what happens with the gate builders and that whole storyline you'll have to read books 7-9.

I've watched this show since 2014 way back when they first released the then future pilot episode and i was hooked, since then this has become the greatest sci-fi tv show of my generation, i sincerely do hope they choose to explore more of this universe and continue the journey through an amazingly deep and fulfilling story & characters as they do in the books

I've been speaking this shows praises as far and as wide as i can, i hate to see it end before it's true conclusion (following the books) but if this is the last season and it's as good as the last season was then I'm all for it
They've said that because of the timeskip and change in tone, they felt it better to adapt the last books as their own series, a sequel to this one. The last scene in the trailer is clearly there to tell us they're not writing off what happens on the other side of Laconia gate.

I'm so happy to see another season so imminent but I'm so sad to see the final arc isn't being carried forward.
The last book releases on the 2nd of December and with that the written series ends too. Its been an incredible ride so far and if I can just get some solid visual media for the last trilogy then I'll be happy, especially if the same actors lend their voices to such a project.
The expanse is simply put, one hell of a way to bring people together on the internet.
If other science fiction makers can learn from the expanses success and develop it, we could be upon a golden age of sci-fi strem cinema.
I love the series, really I do. But can I just state this. I hope this isn't the end of everything in this universe. Think of all the worlds, exploration, and so much more that have been left untapped in this show. I really hope there is some sort of exploration continuation for this story universe.
There's 3 books and 3 novellas worth of content after this season ends. If they make a show or movies, good, if not you can read those.
There's books 7 and 8 which cover what happens after this season and book 9 is coming out in a few weeks.
There will be. Seaon 6 wraps up the inter-planetary conflict that itself ends with book 6 of the show. But there are still 3 more books that deal with the protomolecule stuff, Laconia and the things that killed the ring builders. There’ll probably be a sequel series down the line

I've tried a few episodes, but just can't get into it. None of the characters click with me - I can't bring myself to care about anything that's happening on the screen. Is this a Season 1 problem? Is there an episode that you could recommend that will help me see why its fans love it?
@@RhenishHelm You need to watch the whole first season. It's slow (very) initially but it picks up pace and hooks you up until you don't binge the whole series in one go.

Season 5 was one of my favourite seasons. How beyond it all they created a new tension and kept it intense was phenomenal. And it was the first time we saw Avasarala in full action. Worth it all.

I'm severely disappointed that this is the final season, but I'm definitely going to gobble it up.
Don't be. The producers did a good job. It's left for us to watch it and reward their hardworking. Possibly the viewership might kindle interest in completing the series
With only 6 episodes I'm skeptical it will be a satisfying one...
with the foreshadowing in the last scene of the trailer, I doubt this will be the last we see of the expanse series.

Only 6 eps? Really? That sucks. I don't know if you have read the books but that tease at the end of this trailer hints at things beyond what will likely be covered in this season.

(Spoilers) STOP HERE - Look after the events that are about to transpire the books take a jump decades into the future. Showcasing the outcome of the new human endeavor into the new star systems. It makes sense to end a tv series saying a kind of goodbye to our main characters, and possibly kick start a ‘spinoff’ for the sequel books and new personas to come. Looking forward to Adm. Duarte. - END SPOILERS.

This is by far, the best series there is.

I hadn't read a book in years, then I gave Leviathan Wakes a shot, 8 books in, waiting for the 9th and final book coming in just a few weeks, hyped like a child the day before christmas.
I will read all of them as soon the final book is out. I had too many series in the past that were/are not completed. Most known is game of thrones. Won't make that mistake again :)

@@kungjocke9446 Dont underestimate the gravity of these books. You sort of have trouble going to sleep while reading them and you suddenly realize, that it is 3 am again, and you have to wake up at 7, but you MUST finish this chapter. Next thing you realize, that the sun is up already.

I have never been so excited about every new seasons release of this masterpiece - and it never fails to disappoint. The actors, the production, the intensity all tuned to 11.
- Just soooo sad to see it come to an end. I pray they make the remaining books and / or can replicate this special sauce in a spin-off (thought the character chemistry is part of what makes this show so good).
After this year, without The Expanse, my Christmas will never be the same. Thanks for the last five years!
This is setting up to be one of the most exciting last seasons of any sci-fi show on television. Cannot wait to see what they have planned- you can see the seawall is breached in NYC, and there is all out war. SO EXCITING.
This looks incredible, I just don't understand why the last season? So far it was very faithful to the books, and it seems like it still is. There will not be anything close to satisfying ending. We need three more seasons.
That’s WHY it needs to take a break. The actors need to age up to sell the 30 year time jump to book 7. I think 7-9 deserve to be on the big screen too. There are anti aging drugs so 5 years will be enough time to age the actors.
In terms of the arcs, each 3 books have their own. And the last arc is way more complicated than the previous ones - time jumps, insane technology, a lot of new actors ( don't want to spoil anyone ) so it is difficult to follow. In the books it is easier because each trilogy has it's own topic/arc. In the show it has to be smoothed out, which is likely very difficult task. It is better to stop it after 6th book when there is a somewhat of a wrap up and stable situation achieved.

My brother told me about this and it is one of, if not the best sci fi show i have watched.
So glad I decided on a whim one day during the summer to start this series. Very sad that it's ending. What a great show.
In our hearts, we know the show runners love this just as much as we do. I honestly believe we will get the conclusion on screen at some time in our lives. We waited decades for Jack to return. We shall wait more for the Expanse if we have to.

@@michaeljames4904 I can't be sure of your comment's intent, but I've seen enough similarly worded comments intended to just be 'edgy' and/or negative to have to add: Nomad's point, like so many other things, needs to be viewed in terms of a spectrum.
The Expanse isn't 100% accurate, of course, sometimes it's laughable in that regard - but it is way closer to the accurate end of the scale than just about any other sci fi production of this caliber and overall quality.
Could be wrong, but I'm reading "so scientifically accurate" as a relative statement.
@@rickmartin7674 _The Expanse_ rightly gets praise because as a SciFi show it doesn’t invent tech explained through word salad, which fundamentally exists just to push the plot in the desired direction.
There’s no superluminal travel but there is very fast fusion drive tech; but messages about some battle on the other side of the system can still take hours to reach the inner planets. No fantastical energy or laser weapons, but projectiles based on combustion, and rail guns. The limits on the human body of great acceleration or life in zero G is likewise addressed with a scientific imagination that isn’t plain fantasy. The builder ring-gate tech though preposterous happens in ways that humans struggle to even understand and it’s _admitted_ that it is completely beyond them, to either emulate or control. Indeed much of the drama comes from the ramifications of attempting to.
But one glaring exception, to all of this, is the shoddy nature of the kit which the Belters supposedly use to survive and work in the vacuum, and the idea that it is possible to survive at all, in space, without a suit, even for a short period, is the most egregious example of something which actually is just used, to move the plot in the ways the authors want; turning science totally on its head in the process.
Space suits today are still based on those used in Apollo because NASA’s attempt to make a new generation of them has kept hitting obstacles for over fifty years. The challenges are that gargantuan. In the vacuum of space it’s not simply the extreme cold that can kill a person in seconds but the total lack of any atmospheric pressure. Because the boiling point of water drops significantly with decreased pressure - regardless of static temperature.
What that means is that, in a vacuum like space, the boiling point of any moisture drops below human body temperature... So, in the scene where Naomi jumps through a “hard vacuum,” from one ship to an another, in reality, all her blood would instantly start to fizz and bubble like an Alka Seltzer, which would kill anyone through an embolism in an instant.

@@michaeljames4904 also the pressure changes are overstated. An open cup of water might boil. With human blood (notice unless its not leaking out of you its pretty well sealed off behind tissue, effectively a vaccuum seal of vessels and fat and skin and endothelial walls- although some exit points like lungs and eyes so those go first 👍 especially if there is a breath of air inside you) respiratory system its the same pressure differential in effect as deep sea divers might experience, and although that can be deadly rising up to surface there's quite a high likelihood of nonfatality...of course depends how long. Not very long. But not instantaneous.

I’ve been hooked on SciFi for over 6 decades but this is a whole new level. And yeahhh, just when I needed a great tale presented as none other that I’ve seen. My thanks to the entire crew in front of the camera and behind the scenes. Really great work.

Pains me to see the best space sci Fi series of the last 15 years end after just 6 short episodic seasons. This feels as bittersweet as the premature end of Firefly. Long live the Rocinante crew!

I'm looking forward to this season, such a shame it's the last one though, this show has limitless possibilities like exploring other planets in the universe they could have at least 2 more seasons worth of content like in season 4 where the majority of episodes were centered on exploration elements and conflicts in Illus. It would be cool to know more about the aliens that created proto-molecule and other extraterrestrial life on the habitable planets instead of focusing only on Marco Inaros although I would love to see Holden and Naomi put a bullet in him.

I'd recommend reading the books. If you are not familiar with them, out of the 9 books it appears that the show will only cover 6. The last 3 books are almost completely emitted, perhaps for the best. If there is not enough budget for more seasons, I'd rather see them dropped than cramped into this one. Maybe someone will make a tv adaptation of the last books in the future.
I saw some article interview awhile back and someone who runs the show said it’s ending with Amazon but they wouldn’t be against keeping on going if someone else picked them up

@@freedapeeple4049 The books are separated into different story arcs. Book six concludes the largest arc of them all, which is why it makes for a natural pausing point. The final three books in the series, while very important, are also fairly stand-alone and take place several years after the events of book 6.
This really needed a full season or he’ll even 2 more extended episodes. 6 episodes is a crime
