hi dude, firs of all thank you for assome videos, i have same bike with Vance & Hines exhaust, should i adjust carbs after replacement of exhaust pipes? becouse my pipes are shooting some times.thanks in advance.
Hey man thanks! I really appreciate that! If you put a freer flowing exhaust system you should re-jet the carbs and have an air filter to match. If you don't adjust anything your exhaust will be very very hot and could start bluing in a matter of weeks. I've even heard of heat shields falling off because of clamps melting!!! If the "shooting" or popping is happening during deceleration the bike could be running too lean or it's just the AIS (Air Induction System) or even a combination. That noise is fuel burning in the exhaust system which is why it gets too hot. If you're going to rejet the carbs you'll need a bigger main jet. I cannot tell you exactly what size because it depends on your exhaust and air intake. If you're buying new main jets make sure you get Mikuni Small Round Jets. Keep in mind that carb tuning can take a lot of time and will most likely require a lot of research. Anyway, stay tuned, literally! I will be posting a video soon of how I installed my hypercharger, re-jetted the carbs and how I disabled the AIS.
Generally speaking the longer the pipes the quieter the sound. However, one thing to keep in mind is that a significant alteration from stock pipes can make a huge difference.
hey I wish I knew you wanted those V/H pipes, I want to go back to stock pipes and sell my V/H pipes, too loud and don't look right to me, if you want to sell yours let me know in the comments.
darrell mount you just haven't suffered enough hearing loss yet! I do agree with you, I prefer the look of the stock exhaust. I appreciate the offer but my stock pipes are modified. Louder than the original stock pipes. Perhaps someone else here may be able to help.
hey buddy i also have factory exhaust on my 1100 vstar and was gonna get new vances this winter but i dont want it to sound like drag pipes but i want a nice rumble what should i get? heres my email LLUV902@GMAIL.COM if you can tell me what to get i would be so grateful. thx Larry
Your vid was very helpful,
Espeicaly the cardboard in the dogbone trick.
I installed my pipes in 45 mins
Thank you
I appreciated your very calm voice. Thank you.
Did you have to rejet the bike from stock main jets ? If so, what jetting kit did you change both carbs to ?
Wish these came stock. Not only make for safer riding, but most want them installed aftermarket!
Where did you get your exhaust system.
Did reject,and sync the carburators.
Wonder if we can this in california.
Is this the CA version bike
Have you disconnected the AIS system ?, as it is no longer needed now you have changed the exhaust.

Is the rejet difficult when installing the hypercharger? Does the hyper charger make a big difference?
Where can I buy these short shots and kit to fit on my 2007 vstar 650 custom rev Zilla only has chrome
What year is this bike? If you didn't install a hypercharger would you have to rejet??
Wish the music was turned down to hear what you are saying better, its very distracting.
Y A Hora en Los Comentario todos Son expertos no Chiguen dejenlo El Nomas esta Presentando Su Projecto V ✌️
Is the front exhaust gasket the same as the back?
No, 10mm difference
Thanks, helped me a lot.
Gday mate, great video. Do you know if the v&h cruiser pipes are louder than the v&h short shots on a v star 650?
Generally speaking the longer the pipes the quieter the sound. However, one thing to keep in mind is that a significant alteration from stock pipes can make a huge difference.
I had these pipes and they sounded like aids at speed so I ditched them for the short shots, Much nicer 👍
Thanks for the vid bro!
Do you have to rejet the carbs?
Don’t rejet unless the headers are replaced with the slip-ones. That’s the entire exhaust system.
Do you still have the stock pipes you took off the bike? I would be interested in purchasing if you do!
I do
