  • This booster brick is currently on sale at Coolstuffinc for $120. That is about $15 per pack which is probably close to the price these are worth.

    This looks like an awesome set, but I have a feeling it might be my last set of Icons... can't see myself shelling out for space clowns and hippos

      Very true. I can look for deals on specific miniatures but I can't justify paying these prices.

    Had it been included, that Strahd promo mini would have done wonders to the value of the Curse of Strahd Revamped "coffin" Box Set.

    What a fantastic pull…the bone golem, the dragonnel, the lion drake, and the sea serpent are the stars of the show! Plus-STRAHD!

      Me too Rob, looking at what I get from Titan Forge, artisan guild, lord of the print, or dragon trappers is far superior. And the quality of the sculpts and paint jobs on these are awful, I’d give you 10 bucks for the lot and still wouldn’t feel like Ive got myself a good bargain. Long live the print

    You got Fizban and the silver dragonborn 😎 In this economy I imagine sales on a brick have gone down. You got a great deal on these I would buy it at that price.

  • @619Slipk

    I mean, I wouldn't, but lets say I hypothetically bought a "super booster" for 40 dollars and it came with that serpent... I would be hugely disappointed... And I'm a huge fan of sea monsters
    Definitely not a fan of that face... With that price tag? It goes from E to F pretty quickly. Specially for folks like us that are crafty. You don't need to be a Michelangelo to sculpt a more than serviceable sea serpent (with probably a face cooler than that one)

  • @B.-T.

    I genuinely don't know how Wizkids can justify those prices. I paid too much for the League Of Malevolence set from Witchlight because I'm a Warduke simp and there's so much sloppy paint and warped pieces in that...
    I can go to a Michaels and get a Safari dragon for a fraction of the price a Huge/Gargantuan dragon from Wizkids'd cost, I'm pretty sure the Toob dragons would be of comparable size to Wyrmlings and it'd be a fraction of the cost as well.
    The price on Frameworks remains ridiculous. Outpricing Games Workshop is so monumentally baffling.

      Sage advice, good sir! This humble dwarven wizard thought $180 on Amazon was a tad dear for a brick. Thank you! I have kind of slowed down on buying minis until WOTC kind of hits the ceiling price-wise and starts giving more value or selling cheaper bricks. I am filling the void with reprinting classic modules using print-on-demand to go with the massive photocopied AD&D library. As a DM, I am definitely interested in running the all-time classic. Have you ever played or DMed an AD&D game?

    Love that we finally get an true main, orange/ amber (with yellowish undertones) dragon, though not of the Chromatic family. Its a nice step-in. What frusteates me is that in the Fizban mini set theres NO Topaz dragons unless you got REALLY lucky with promos and thats not many! I hope WotC after releasing the final Metallic Icons of the Realm Brass and Copper adult dragons will at least finish up the Gem line with adult Topaz, Amethyst and Vrystal dragons as well. HOPEFULLY more Gem dragon minis in Dragonlance booster minis sets ( small, medium, large, huge figures) or another Monster Merangine 4? So want Topaz ones. But not forking a scalpel of cash for one 😂 Had three super boosters, got Amethyst which was that I truly hoped for. Sea serpent and Dragonell was the two others

    Yeah, I'm with you on being priced out. Thing is, I pretty much have all the minis I need, and I am a painter so I can get some Reaper bones for much less.
    Really stinks for new players who don't have a bunch of minis already though.

    Sadly the WizKids stuff was priced to high like taking GW prices on the warband which suckeds. Then the other frameworks are priced around 15-20 for pcs and yellow boxes are about 30 for one figure no thank you.

  • @valeriemcintyre1425

    I've been looking at prices and it surprises me that the drcaohydra mini is in some cases nearly double the price of some premium adult dragons despite being relatively similar in size (if not smaller in some cases). It is certainly saddening to be put off by these increasing prices. Of the most recent sets Fizban's is the only interesting one for me with the value of MotM and Spelljammer seeming overpriced for only a handful of semi-interesting minis. I think its why I liked Monster Menagerie 3 and Storm King's Thunder as it was almost guaranteed to come with a huge mini that could be useful, making it worth the cost for me. Though I did manage to get a Monster Menagerie 3 brick on sale for $55 (NZD) so that did help make the decision to get it.
    Edit: I have also noticed that a lot of the brick openings on youtube tend to always have the bone golem and sea serpent as the rare huge minis

    Buying those in the age of 3d printing? WHY?!

    • @Blandco
      @Blandco  2 роки тому

      Well durability IS still an issue unless you print your own. I have yet to be able to buy any 3D printed mini that is durable as these. With USA Thermoplastic molds becoming very popular though I can't help but assume it will be only a matter of time before someone figures out a way to mass produce prepaints in the US. But yeah durability aside the price point is out of control.

    After the stuff recently with a certain company they've become just as bad as GW just with worse quality minis. Sad really, going to get into the game to play with my younger siblings as it'll help them tremendously as they're both autistic and the problem solving etc will be great to help them but I think i'll just take the time to do my own stuff with it and go the route of Kobold Press for supplements etc. Already have 3d printers and despite having to paint everything myself the kids are worth putting the effort in for

  • @seangere9698
    @seangere9698 2 роки тому +2

    WizKid stuff isn't selling because of the inferior sculpts and paints to those made by true fans that can be purchased and you can make as many as you want as long as you can get ahold of a Resin printer. And most that have the money to go this route can paint and or are willing to learn to paint their own minies. There's also sculptors out there that are willing to make personalized minies and or multi packs with almost endless options to produce unique minies for your games and armies. With pre-made minies like these you are stuck to only one or two sculpts and it makes making an army pointless and or boring. This is the reason behind kit bashing before 3D printers came out and why most companies had a few options in their mini kits. So you could have somewhat of a mixed army. But 3D printers has changed the Table top gaming world for the better IMHO. this coming from someone that doesn't have or even knows someone with a 3D printer.
    For me the only minies in the WizKid stuff that's worth getting are the dragons and Kobalds.
