This definitely helps. I can definitely pick up the details much more easier. Not saying that I haven't had easy. I just see the steps more clearly. Before it was a blur when you play your music because, it's you music. And it rocks. But when you teach the steps for your music like this, it sounds more clear and it gives off a tutorial vibe then. Your finger goes and your finger goes here and here and then you pluck this string and etc. You told the finger placement and the strings very clearly that it makes so much sense to play the guitar how you taught, if that makes sense. :)
Thank you man, you gotta know there are reasons people support you. Beyond being a phenomenal player, you're a cool dude but most importantly for how talented you are you are humble, and you don't give off that holier than thou vibe that a lot of dudes do. Beyond that you make it fun and exciting to grind on the guitar, practice is way less boring!
@@CharlieRobbins Don't thank me man, I'm just making an observation. I can’t stress enough how amazing these videos are. I am so grateful for your tutorials and tips and they’ve really helped me explore my instrument more. Thanks Charlie!
Question, what are the songs that are in the background while you are explaining things. Specifically the beginning after the intro, while you were speaking at the end, and the end song? I imagine they're yours but I am curious. Thanks
Learning a little theory here too and I was surprised I was actually able to follow the concepts in this vid lol. Thanks for the help! Now I gotta google inversions.....
This is pure gold. Thanks a lot for throwing this together. I’ve always played around with chords and finding things that go well together, but I’ve never applied the simple one string melody idea and expanding it with chords. Such a simple change that I think will make a huge difference.
Man, you're really good at explaining things in a way that anyone can understand. Very helpful. Because of you, I set my pick down for a month and actually learned how to finger-pick.
@@CharlieRobbins Nonsense, sir! I should be thanking you! Could you possibly do a video on your various picking and finger-picking techniques? I'm really interested in your use of Rasgueado, but you're just remarkably virtuous in general.
Thanks! There are so many ways to write on guitar, I love getting some insight into how other people get shit done. These vids and all your riffs make this channel a goldmine.
Can't begin to tell you what an inspiration this video has been. Feels like I've hit a real eurekia moment - thanks for sharing dude! Keep up the good work.
@@CharlieRobbins is there a video on ur channel where u explain how to connect cords like put an arpeggio in or even an triad I’m a beginner and have learned some Arpeggios but don’t know how to connect it
Thank you for sharing some of your thought process on this topic. Totally cool road map for those stuck in a rut. You rock brotha 🤘🤘🤘 Hopefully to see more lesson type vids like this.
I feel like cgcfad tuning is your main tuning, and i get that it fits your style and vibe, but if possible can you make a video/tutorial/riff regarding the standard E tuning, thanks
This concept actually works on diatonic progressions as well! The theme of this video is don’t be afraid to try and mix and match the stuff you like to hear and have fun with it :)
I kinda went over this for my how to play modern riffs video. But basically I mentioned how you can use either the scale or the chord you’re playing. I often like to outline arpeggios :)
Hey Charlie, Great video again, keep it up! One kinda miscellaneous question, when you're doing either those quick strums or the stacatto percussive type stuff (it's hard to explain exactly what I mean, it came to me when I was learning your stop sliding riff the other day), I noticed sometimes you "strum" on the fretboard (i.e closer to your left hand) in some cases, whereas some other times you don't. When I tried it myself, it does sound a little different but is that why you do it? Because it also looks really cool hahhah. Whatever you can say on this would be appreciated, since I have been really getting into this sort of techniques!
I was actually gonna make a video on this! But basically when you strum around the neck pick up, or even on the board. Around the G,B, and E string. It gives it a more percussive sound. You can also contrast that with hitting the lower strings and create a high and low sounding rhythm :)
@@CharlieRobbins That's awesome, thanks man! I have been playing around with this type of thing more and more and it really is so much fun, and sounds amazing. A video on that type of percussive techniques and on your neat rasgueado thingy would actually be great, just one more potential idea for these tutorial type videos.
Hey dude! I’m mainly talking about the steps to building a chord progression. Like I said in the video. This can be applied any which way you’d like, and with any fingering of chord that feels good to you. 🙌🏻

First you should wright a hit single at least 1 and then explain how to wright 1 . i hope this makes perfect sense . Second of all you cant teach someone to compose .
ivan dzharakov *write. What does having a hit have to do with teaching anyone? If people enjoy his work and want to learn how he does things why not show them? I mean they are asking him how he writes. Also that logic means every guitar teacher and music teacher needs to stop teaching and release mainstream media level music “hits” to continue. Also in relation to that thats all teaching is, is showing someone tools to use to compose so that parts makes 0 sense. I think that before you can critique judge or direct someone especially someone on a different playing field than yourself you need to put yourself on an equal plateau or write a “Hit” yourself 😉
Hey everyone! Hope this helps! I have tab packs in the description :)

What's the name of that outro song?
It sounds like Creep by Radiohead with the major chords
don't change man
No mention of the chords that fit into a diatonic key and harmonic function? That's what beginners need
