@@DomLaColla There's actually nothing interesting about it unfortunately. TwicebakedJake just pumped the card really hard and 40k people followed him. Plus one person specifically was looking for the card in huge quantities (1k I think?) so both of those things together caused the card to become so expensive, relative to what it was. Not sure which person came first, but the two together is what caused it.
Thanks Scott - these type of videos are invaluable! Appreciate the context of these cards but moreover your passion that comes through when talking about em. Thank you🤝
Great video. These are by far my favourite set / group of cards. They have everything, awesome artwork, a great story, been around since the beginning, and someone had to win them. Fantastic
I think the hobby forgot about some o these cards. For a long time they were very unattainable for the average collector. These guys chased Zard purely for the fact there would be plenty of supply and with that demand rising naturally the value went up. I like how you bringing attention to these history cards! Let’s GO!!
I don’t understand why Smpratte’s videos don’t get the insane hundreds and thousands of views and likes compared to other “poketubers” out there that open 1 or 2 packs per video and makes a clickbait-y thumbnail. Scott has easily one of the best if not best Pokemon card collection in the WORLD showing us the rarest of the rare cards in PTCG history and discussing them in depth, and only gets like a quarter of views compared to other youtubers that just open packs?? Absolutely makes no sense. Great video Scott, this is a great series.
He doesn't need to lower himself to the likes of flogs such as Unlistedleaf. Clearly has enough money and YT is there as a medium for providing valuable information.
@@L.S1992 Well I wouldn't neccesarily say he has to lower himself, but I'm just really confused on why people don't watch his videos more like they watch the other Pokemon UA-camrs when I personally think Scott's videos are a ton better than them.
His videos are directed more for collecting/investment and the background of Pokémon cards. Most Pokémon youtubers have views for fun vlogs and Pokemon pack openings. Most people watch those youtubers for their funny personality or something like that. We have to face the fact Pokémon is dominated by mostly kids, Smpratte’s videos doesn’t seem to be targeted on that audience too much.
Canada is known for its beaver, so I'm guessing that explains Baduf on the Worlds 13. Loved seeing these cards; what a beautiful collection! Thanks for sharing. :)
The 1999 Tropical Wind card was released at the 1999 Challenge Road Summer regional tournaments in Japan, which preceded the international 1999 Tropical Mega Battle tournament in Hawaii. The 1999 version is therefore the only card in the Tropical Series that was NOT released at an international event - it was only distributed to junior-division participants of the 1999 Challenge Road Summer tournaments, which were regional tournaments held in Japan only.
Scott have you made a video discussing the English tropical mega battle (English VS) series cards? I just found out about them a few weeks ago, think they’re super cool.
2019 Champions Festival is an awesome one - has lots of the previous years as paintings in the background! Can't wait to see Pikachu, Scorbunny, Sobble and Grookey with Big Ben in the background for 2021! 🥰
I’m a Hoppip collector! Have several PSA 10 natta wake and the 2010 tropical tidal wave is one of 2 hoppip cards I don’t have! Also missing the e reader sample card. Thanks for the great videos!
Hey, could you make a video talking about chase cards like rainbow pikachu and rainbow charizard and what you think the prices will do for them? I think that might be interesting seeing as even though vivid voltage is getting alot of prints, it seems like it's going to keep going up. Speculation for chase cards from sets like black white, xy, sun and moon, and swsh would be really interesting. Like the future of chase cards that everyone knows from sets that are in low demand.
This is best series ever to collect and look personally. Unfortunately I'm not a baller to have Tropical wind 2001.. but now, 2020 will also be missing in my collection. My life is incomplete :(
Regarding the 1999 Tropical Wind - that card means nothing to me. I don't think that the art is particularly beautiful, I don't care about collecting cards that I cannot read, and psyduck is not one of my favorite pokemon. But, as a collector, I understand the difference between value and meaning. It might not have any meaning to me specifically, but that doesn't mean that I don't respect the value of it. The greatest tool that we can have at our disposal when it comes to making decisions in this hobby is knowing the difference between subjective qualities like art and sentimentality, and objective qualities like history, condition, and rarity. That's how I can have a personal negative opinion about this card, while also taking part in the excitement of your personal positive opinion about it. And hopefully, that's how I can maintain my enjoyment in this hobby over a long period of time, even if what is currently popular and available isn't tailored to my taste. Thanks for sharing as always xoxo
The 2001 and 2002 Tropical Wind / Breeze are even rarer! I was lucky to own a entire English VS deck from the 2001 TMB. I’m auctioning it this April through Heritage Auctions
I like rare cards but im definitely more interested in more desirable cards. Charizard could be pop 30k and id still want him, the tropical cards could be pop 1 and only $120 each, id still rather a vivid voltage booster box to chase the chu. Just my opinion!!
full art jessie & james are rarer than charizard, youtube told me
Lol I've found this so interesting the past few days. I would pull one of these everyone other tin.

Have any Jessie and James for sale?
My guy has like 30 mill just sitting in his room like eh no big deal 😂😂
JWITTZ is a hoppip collector

Smpratte with another great video , what camera are you using to film with?
Always good to see your uploads. Have a great day 😎

Same reason why popular artists with no talent get more views and attention.

I just love Kizuki's artwork and that whole Vending/Team Rocket feel to the art. Always so nostalgic.
Awesome showcase of these cards. I definitely learned something new today, thanks for sharing!

i love that 2010 one, such a cool art style

My dumbass said 2k was too expensive in 2015 🤣... but Hindsight 2020...
The dialogue in this video.. so many great one liners lmao

Hope you end up on one of Pokeradar's podcasts man, would be incredible.

I feel so bad for RealBreakingNate... how is he gonna get every PSA 10 with psyduck when these absolute bangers exist? 😭
I can already see some kanto Ig’ers blood boiling. Great video
Your collection is unreal..
I think you would be fantastic as the host of a podcast
One of the best pokemon cards no doubt
Will you open a museum in the next 10 years?
Do we know how many were printed?
Scott, I just wanted to say you look like the lead singer from REM. Peace
Jwittz might be a hoppip collector if anyone is, not sure if he collects/collected tho but
Where do you find these gems?
Thoughts on the special delivery Pikachu and potential value. Grade or keep sealed?
Love your videos!!
2015 by far the best art in my opinion🔥✨
There's not many people who could even make this video and have all the cards on hand.
WTT rarer than charizord, one-of-one in the entire galaxy collection. Looking for a 008p
Pop 3 vs 1. The numbers dont lie.
so how do you get cards like this?
im from sweden, and i never seen/heard of cards like this
I recently bought some type of 2014 Worlds Deck and it had two of the Champions Festival 2014 Promo's (no staff stamp) Anyone know the value?
Awesome!
japanese promos all day ❤️
does anyone know where i can buy those clear card stands from?
Get a load of this guy
Holy shit 5xxxxxx cert 9 🤯🤯
hey Arnold Pikachu lololol
Greetings from Hawaii 😁🤙
Can I get your advise on a 2004 Tropical wind PSA 9. I've seen it for $600. Good price?
There is a 10 on cardmarket for 800€
was offered one of these for £90 back in the day, passed on it :(
Traded 2-3 years ago my voltorb shiny (arceus) with a tropical wind 2004. Still have it
💥💥💥💥
HEY GUYS THIS IS ASSSSSSS-M-PRATT

Wait, 2001 is rarer than Illustrator??
Somewhat of a weird title, i would assume all trophy cards are rarer than charizard.

Buneary is gonna get cancelled over those blonde Afro-buns!
Just curious:
will you consider using Beckett?
They're more prestigious, have sub grades, & fetch higher prices.
thats why i bought bgs 10 special delivery pikachu instead of psa 10
He has a video discussing the difference between PSA and BGS for grading pokemon. Check it out.
@@apmanti12 BGS 10 BLack Label > BGS 10 Gold Label > PSA 10 > BGS 9.5 > PSA 9 > BGS 9
Oh I know the differences...
but Beckett is clearly better than PSA.
Some PSA 10s are actually BGS 9.5 or even 9s....
@@birdsonthebat9452
@@aBirdAndHisBoy Sure, but a lot of Beckett 9.5s are PSA 9s, and Beckett 9s PSA 8s.
I‘d love to own the Tropical Wind 07 psa 8 cause I grew up with those starters but the import duties are killing me 😫 25% on 4k€ is too much 😂

I slightly agree with you. Charizard is like the big pot of treasure, and these are like little hidden gems. Both great in their own perspective
then your an idiot

That is such a fun set! I don't have any of those cards, but I can see why you collect them. They are fun and rare. That is the gold standard for me.
