can anyone comment on diagnosing TB using next generation sequencing? with ngs, we would know exactly which bacteria is causing the problem and which drug to use, right?
there is GeneExpert method, which can determind what type of pills it can be treated with. It takes about 3 hours. But the best is ofcourse culture growth for 2-3 months.
wear your mask and get your tb tested. You will need to give blood, sputum, and x-ray. They will find out which treatment is best for you in about 3 hours after you give your sputum. In many countries tb is treated for free, because of its highly infectious and super dangerous nature. Please wherever you go wear the medical mask, I recomend two layers. You don't want to infect small children or pregnant women, old people, people with HIV, or with diabetes and also just others who's immune system got weak from stress.
Could someone tell me how Th cells will recognise the antigens? Th cells are programmed to locate antigens bound to MHC proteins. How does this happen?
I am in the process of writing a story where the main character has been misdiagnosed with TB. What other diseases could they have contracted? (preferably something curable) To explain the blood in the cough I intend to give him Mallory-Weiss. (tho at the time it wasn't called that) What would the difference be between these two? Something the doctor can catch and say, 'no, that's not TB' The story also takes place in 1900. (Tuberculin does play a role in the story and Robert Koch is a minor character.) Any information on any of this would be incredibly helpful. I would like it to be medically accurate as well as historically accurate. Thank you.
TST is not a test to diagnose TB disease, it is usefull to diagnose TB infection! Not the same...a positive TST in a patient with a lung granuloma or cavitary lesion does not confirm TB disease, because the patient may have been infected years ago and right now be suffering from a similar disease that is a differential diagnosis of TB, like Histoplasmosis or Wegeners...
TST with Abnormal CXR and clinical symptoms with bacteriological examination..and abnormal CXR always followed by bacteriological examination without any exception...
What happens if a person from an endemic area has to do a PPD skin test for traveling internationally and it is positive (greater than 10mm). But the person has no clinical symptoms of tuberculosis and neither is the chest Xray positive for tuberculosis. A. Is that person a patient of tuberculosis? B. Does the patient need ZN staining of sputum after a negative chest Xray?
Canada began to test its forest fire fighters (many smokers) 30 years on.. age 50+ where never screened for uremia encephalitis.. or over looked hip compromise.. mother Teresa isolated chronic illness .. why was housing maintenance in Canada not factored in prior to the state of the art hospice .. pulmonary therapy ? Canada has WCB which has a vast library of human diagnostic ...fungus .. lung exray in Canada i think exploited Canadian Smorg of WCB cue.. the victim of a false diagnosis many fire fighters were never published .. and misuse of pharmaceutical SUBSIDY.. until the valium victim turned 70.. oops.. think of the potential of cross culture inclusion destroyed through WCB CUE.. OR BIRCHUMMEN
wow, doctors you have done a really good job that you should be proud of!
Congratulations guys. I give 10/10. Wow.
Very helpful. Definitely making a difference in the learning world.
Thank you for posting this informative video. How about the blood test QuantiFERON? Where does it stand in positively diagnosing TB infection?
easy way to learn abou tb diagnosis
BRILLIANT
1. CXR + Mx test + sputum test (staining and culture/sensitivity)
2. Molecular testing
3. Xpert MTB/RIF
Simply excellent. Very grateful for clear, concise and well presented video. Thank you for the great channel. 9/8/2018 😊

Just got back from doc lung x rays clear not contagious got tb meds finely
okey, but culture growth is still recommended. You dont need to take drugs if you dont have the micobacterium tb in your lungs.
Oh OK I'll do that thank you and god bless you
I ask them to do culture growth test right?
I’m surprised there aren’t more RDR2 references on this video. :)

Shehr Bano Iftikhar that means he has latent TB
LTBI or primary TB..but chances of acquiring it during lifetime ..so go for treatment guidelines in LTBI
It can also be a false positive test if the patient has had bcg vaccination. So other tests can be done to rule it out
@@bharatsaraswat4335 what do you suggest?
XDR-TB stands for Extensively drug resistant TB. I am not sure if it is also called extreme DR TB. Anyway very helpful session. Thank you.

Could be half of these diagnosis could be false because of the bovine version that makes humans test positive for this.
