I'm not sure but maybe you can prune your indeterminate tomatoes at little more underneath to really spur growth

Yes! It's my first year growing it, and it's going crazy and I love the look of it in my gardens! The only problem is I only have one luffa so far because the ants have been swarming it from the second I put in the garden, and it seems like they are destroying the blooms! I don't want to spray anything so I don't know what to do to get rid of them because I really want to make these nesting pads for my girls but at this rate I'm not going to get any more luffas 😢 any tips to get rid of ants???

I bet it was an awesome feeling making something by hand AND having the chickens actually use it. My chickens were finnicky as well. Lol they were spoiled and not ashamed of it.

It is so nice to see how well you take care of your chickens. The healthier they are, the happier they will be and provide a better production.

We use chopped straw from tractor supply. It's a huge bag that last a really long time for about $15. If your chickens end up not liking the new pad maybe you could use the straw. The luffa pad is super cool though!

Wow, great garden! If ever you feel like some of the tomatoes are not getting ripe because the plants are dying, I suggest making jam with green tomatoes, with a little bit of vanilla it's delicious :)

I sowed my pole beans today as well. Saved them from last year's crop. I'm not doing too great on succession sowing but doing a little bit like 2nd round of direct sowed zucchinis. As far as those tomatoes not doing well, I have a stockade fence on 2 sides of my garden and over the years I've realized I have to plant as far away ss possible (just a matter of a few feet). But I find they have been doing better since I've relocated them, and I attribute that to the lack of air drainage before.

Well done that's fantastic I find your garden really inspiring because it's much closer to the size garden we will have when we move. Re making the nesting pads with a sewing machine it really depends if much dust or bits come off the loufa if they do it might wreck your new machine when you get it. Just a thought, it would still be great for dresses ect.

Hey Bre, I do look forward to your videos. You are always so upbeat and positive. I really love the flow to the video the information show and tell or demonstration. Some folks just need to see a step or two and then they are off to the races. I garden in our yard also and some years it is massive amounts of food and others not so much. Like this year over 25 inches of rain the spring and all my okra was 3" underwater and it all drowned. The replacements are just germinating now. I will get a fraction if any okra this year. However I am already harvesting Cherokee Purple and Beefsteak tomatoes in July in Minnesota. There must be a hundred tomato plants this year! So I am more grateful for what I do get and less focused on what I do not get. Thank you for the video I am glad I found your channel. Cya next thyme, Steven

Determinate tomatoes seem more productive because they fruit all at once. Indeterminate are more slow and steady and will produce until frost or disease ends them. They just require more patience. I have better luck with indeterminate because they can recover from setbacks. If you get a problem with determinate at the wrong time then there will be no tomatoes that season at all!

I have never been successful with tomatoes in grow bags. I think the nutrients have flushed when draining after watering. I applied tomato tone and fish fertilizer. I finally decided to never use grow bags for tomatoes.
I now just grow pepper in grow bags now.

I had a similar thought but I have the same soil in other area and those plants are thriving. All new soil for those areas this year, and I’ve been feeding the plants weekly. I had a few get hit with some herbicide drift at the beginning of the year and I’m thinking more got affected then I originally thought. I had a neighbor spraying on a 50mph day… but never know! Sometimes tomatoes are weird and finicky and this is a area with the most sun. Thinking that could have stressed them out farther with how hot we were getting. The other two areas get a bit more shaded during peak day. Funny how the same plants are thriving just 20 feet away lol got to love gardening for keeping you on your toes!
