The most complete Center in the history of the world. If I had a choice of picking any Center in history in their prime, im picking Olajuwon without question or hesitation.
+Ember Gaming best offensive center for sure but Hakeem was the entire package. Scoring, rebounding, footwork, shot blocking (all time leader) I'll take Olajuwon

If a god decided to become a man for a while he was wilt chamberlain, the only reason wilt isn’t regarded as the GOAT is cause of when he played, the man was one of the fastest strongest and highest leaping players ever, and by most accounts he didn’t really care too much about the NBA, hakeem is defs up there but to me I think it goes something like wilt Kareem and the hakeem and maybe shaq, wilt is unquestionably the best, the other three I have trouble sorting between, hakeem didn’t get as many awards or rings as the others tho that’s the problem...
Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest center of all time. #1 player in NBA history in blocked shots, #9 all time in most steals, #13 all time in most rebounds, and #10 all time in scoring. Baseline jumper was unstoppable, so was his specialty move the dream shake, and most complete center of all time. Best center of all, best two way player of all time, and best foreign NBA player of all time. Hakeem is simply the Dream! My favorite player ever along with Kobe Bryant, and I'm from Lagos, Nigeria just like Hakeem.
DevondaleBro Kareem would’ve been even higher in blocks had they recorded them at the beginning of his career. And wilt and bill would’ve been 1 and 2 in blocks had they recorded them while they played
Hakeem Olajuwon is an absolute legend in his era. He was a monster big men, so they couldn’t mess with him back then. He will block your shots just to think twice about playing against him. He was dominating the league with back to back champions with the Rockets while Jordan was gone. He played during Jordan era and you can name a lot of players that played during Jordan era. I bet you can name a lot of them. He and Jordan were born in the same year, so he was a Nigerian nightmare. He led his careers in points, rebounds, and blocks after his 18 year career in the NBA. Salute to #34 Hakeem Olajuwon!!!
I am a Lakers fan and Magic is my FAVORITE player of all time and I am biased concerning all things Lakers but I have consistently and will continue to say that The Dream is the GREATEST center I have ever watched.
I am always, and always will be a Laker fan. But if anyone ever asks who my favorite player of all time is, it's 'The Dream'. Built like a center, plays like a forward and handles like a guard. That's what you get when you max out all the attributes in a Create-a-Player mode or when you create a player from previous greats. They should've banned alot of his moves because it was downright illegal how he didn't just dominate opposing centers, but he made them look like amateurs night in and night out. You want a centerpiece for a franchise, "the Dream' is it, then T-Mac, then Lebron.
I am glad he stayed with rhe Rockets through the tough years. It paid off and his loyalty was admirable. One of the best players to ever step onto the court. Respect.
Anybody who thinks they wouldn't have beat the Chicago Bulls in at least one finals match-up doesn't respect the greatness of Hakeem. Houston was a tough match-up for the Bulls throughout the 90s and it was mostly because of this man!
Daniel D the Bulls were 2-6 against the Rockets during the early 90's and Olajuwon used to block Jordan's buzzer beaters to end games! Bulls would've lost in 5 games against the Rockets!
Domingo W. Houston could've just fed it to him the whole series. Who would've stopped him? Luc Longley? Dream averaged 35 against Shaq in the finals. He probably would've averaged 40-50.
As a sixers fun loving Embiid's game so far and I hear people start to compare him to Olajuwon, but seeing this video got to say that the Dream is the only Dream.
Hakeem was a bigger version MJ. Both players never took a play off, great players play with passion both sides of the court. It was a man's game back then. Today'sNBA is college players being paid.
This video is shorter than I'd have liked, but it's a case of just not a lot of RAW footage available on the guy. I still had a fun time going over the Dream's career and watching some of his insane shakes and spins. Up Next, the winner of the You Pick The Trailer Vote.

i am so glad you uploaded this video and have the resource to find the material. Hakeem was a truly great player and so often overlooked in NBA history
I live in Houston. I had the pleasure of watching Hakeem play at UH and for the Rockets. I watched almost every game he played in. It was fun to watch him play basketball. He invented the "step back jumper" before they knew what to call it.
He's the best defensive player in history. #1 all time in blocks by a mile and #9 all time in steals (as a Center). 2 time defensive player of the year. And he could shoot free throws so he never left the court.
The only reason we don't recognize him as the greatest player is because number of rings. But to be a center in the top 10 in the 5 Major categories is iconic. #Rockets
QuinntonB How about the fact he's the only player in history to record 2 quadruple doubles, only center in history to record 200+steals and 200+blocks in the same season!? Or he's still the only player to ever get MVP, Finals MVP, and DPOY in the same season?!? And he's still the only player to lead a #6 seed to a championship in history! Hakeem's version is a bit different. Dirk's one legger is a kickstand, and he barely gets off the ground. Hakeem uses a bit more momentum on his turn, and gets more air. It's not as much of a kickstand. They're sort of the same shot, but Dirk's is definitely his.
@Man E Mr. J He was. Only saying that they're not completely the same shot. And when other NBA players emulate the shot, they do the kickstand version, which is why Dirk gets most of the cred.

Kareem, Wilt, Hakeem, Shaq, Bill Russell, Moses Malone, David Robinson, George Mikan, Willis Reed, Patrick Ewing, Bill Walton.
