a few of yall messaged me that^ tweet and i saw some other tweets indirecting me as well (( i see yall hhh )). anw, i also thought that concept fit rly well with what i imagined when i first heard the song (( and apparently what you guys imagined too )) so i decided to make it :D i hope you guys enjoy !!

노랫소리가 나는 쪽으로 고개를 돌리니 보이는 온통 어두운 바 안 유일하게 빛나는 작은 무대, 그리고 지긋이 눈을 감고 노래에 집중한듯 약간 인상을 쓴채 노래를 부르는 한 남자.
그냥 그때 내가 너무 힘들어서 그랬는지 바의 분위기가 날 그렇게 만든건지 아님... 무대에서 노래를 부르는 저 남자 때문인건지 가슴이 울렁 거리고 진부하고 뻔한 표현이지만 정말 시간이 멈춘것 같았다.
3분?4분? 나는 홀린듯이 노래를 들었고 노래가 언제 어떻게 끝났는지 기억도 나지 않는다.
그냥 기억에 남는건 노래를 부르는 내내 예민해 보이던 그 남자가 노래를 마치자마자 부끄러움을 애써 숨기듯 머쓱하게 웃던 그 모습.
벌써 유학생활 한지도 5년 전 일이 됐고 지금은 한국에 돌아와 평범한 직장인으로 살고 있지만 가끔씩 바에서 비슷한 분위기의 음악을 듣는 날이면 어김없이 그날이 떠오르곤 한다.
그때 바에서 노래를 부르던.. 이름도 모르는 그 남자.

이거 약간 그거잖,, 원래 전정국은 엄청 유명한 대기업 회사 사장 아들인데 회사쪽으로 일하기 싫어서 하고 싶은대로 하고 사고싶은대로 사는 그런 마이웨이 인생 사는거.. 그 반대로 전정국 형인 전이안은 아버지 말씀 엄청 따라서 아버지 회사 물려 받을 준비중인거지 그래서 아버지가 전정국만 외국에서 경영쪽 일 배우고 오라 해서 외국 보내 줬는데 그닥 인기 있지도 않은 아는 사람들만 오는 그런 바에서 노래부르면서 즐기는거 근데 때마침 유학 온 여주가 밤 늦게까지 놀다가 집 가려고 나왔는데 비가 엄청 오는거.. 그래서 근처에 아직 문 닫지 않은 바에 들어가서 대충 자리잡고 도수 쎈 술 한병 시키고 술잔에 쪼르르 따라 마시려 하는데 전정국이 노래 시작하겠지.. 사람도 많지 않고 조용한 스타일의 바길래 그냥 술만 마시러 가끔 와야겠다 생각했는데 갑자기 노래 시작하고 게다가 한국어로 부르길래 궁금한 나머지 무대 쪽 쳐다봤는데 자신의 남친인 전이안이랑 너무 똑같이 생긴거,, 놀라기도 엄청 놀라서 입 틀어막고 자리에서 벌떡 일어났는데 전정국이 여주 쪽 쳐다보다가 눈 마주친거.. 그래서 여주가 창피해서 자리에 다시 살포시 앉는데 노래 끝 날때까지 전정국이랑 자꾸 눈 마주치는 그런 거 보고 싶다. 그래서 뭐 어쩌겠어 전이안이 회사일 때문에 지치고 예민해서 권태기인 것도 모자라 만날때 마다 다른 여자향수 냄새나서 미치겠는 여주가 자신의 남친인 전이안과 다른 매력을 풍기는 전정국 보고 끌리기도 하겠지. 그러다 문득 정신 차리고 보니 노래 끝나있고 전정국은 어디 갔는지 모름.. 여주는 술도 다 마셨겠다 이제 집 가자 하고 나왔는데 아까보단 덜 내리지만 아직도 비가 추적추적 내리고 있는거임 생각해 보니 아까 바에 들어올때도 우산이 없어서 비 맞고 들어왔는데 지금 와서 어떻게 할 방법이 없음 어쩔수 없이 뛰어가야 겠다 생각한 여주가 심호흡 한번 하고 한발 내디뎠는데 검고, 또 약간의 빛이 나는 신발이 앞을 가로막는 동시에 비를 안맞게 되는거 살짝 놀란 여주가 앞을 보는데 딱 전정국 인거지.. 전정국과 어울리는 쿨한, 한편으론 따뜻한 그런 향수 향이 나는 라이더 자켓을 입고 한손에는 우산 들고 있겠지..

근데 서로 눈 안 피하고 계속 바라보면서 노래함. 지금 이 바에 나랑 저 남자밖에 없다는 생각이 들정도로 나만 쳐다봄.
그리곤 노래 다 부르고 무대 아래로 내려오자마자 나한테 직진해서 옴, 주위 여자들이 말 거는거 대충 대답하고 눈은 나만 봄.

술 잔을 빙빙 돌리던 나는 주변을 둘러보았다. 현실에 지쳐 도망치듯 유럽으로 배낭여행을 떠났다. 정처없이 발 닿는 곳으로 향했지만 마음은 여전히 답답했다. 텁텁한 입 안에 칵테일을 조금씩 흘려보내며 바보같은 알코올에 의지하는 나도 참 어리석은 인간인듯 했다. 적어도 다른 사람보단 낫다고 자부했지만 나도 그들과 다를 바가 없었다. 아는 사람 하나 없는 타지에서 익숙한 한국어가 들렸다. 뭐지? 고개를 돌려보니 두 눈을 감고 노래에 집중한 사람이 보였다. 동그란 눈매와 높은 콧날. 립밤을 발랐는 지 조명 아래에서 반짝이는 입술이 눈에 띄었다. 단조로운 운율과 부드럽고 따스한 목소리가 바 안에 울려 퍼졌다. 뭐랄까. 서정적인 목소리였다. 너무 빤히 쳐다보다 그와 눈이 마주쳤다. 난 화들짝 놀라 이내 시선을 돌렸고 날 본 것이 분명했다.
노래가 끝나자 박수가 이어졌고 그는 무대에서 내려왔다. 피아노 반주만 깔았을 뿐인데도 노래는 참 멋들어졌다. 그는 발걸음을 내쪽으로 옮기더니 옆자리에 앉았다.
“한국인이세요?”
아까 듣던 그 노래와 같은 목소리였다. 가성과 진성을 잘 섞어내던데. 원래 목소리가 좋구나. 하는 생각이 들었다.
“아, 네. 맞아요.”
“여기 현지인 아니면 찾기 힘든 곳인데. 어떻게 오셨어요?”
“원래 잘 돌아다니는 성격이라.”
“저는 유학 중이에요.”
자신의 이름은 정국이며 유학 중이라는 말과 함께 이곳에서 일하게 된 이야기에 대해 말을 해주었다. 자신이 겪었던 일들을 비롯해서. 우리 둘은 많은 대화를 나눴다.
“만나서 반가웠어요.”
“저두요.”
“저 다음 주면 이 가게에서 일하는 거 그만 두는데. 그전에 다시 볼 수 있을까요?”
“다시 찾아올게요.”
“기다릴게요.”
일을 관둔다는 마지막 날이 되었다. 가고 싶었지만 나도 이곳에서의 일정이 끝났고 기차표도 이미 끊어둔 탓에 가기 힘들었다. 오후 8시 반, 머릿속의 전정국이란 이름만 메아리쳐진다. 가야할까. 숙소에서 나와 캐리어를 들고 있는 나에게 그는 혼란만 가져다 주었다. 손에 들린 기차표가 이질적으로 다가왔다. 어쩌면 좋을까. 이대로 흘려보내도 괜찮을 사람인건가. 나에게 계속해서 질문했다. 놓칠 수 없었다.
그 가게로, 정국을 만났던 그곳을 향해 냅다 뛰었다. 가게 안으로 들어가자 정국은 보이지 않았다. 실망에 가득 차 돌아가려던 그 순간 뒤에서 목소리가 들렸다.
“보고 싶었어요.”
내 눈을 마주본 그가 말했다.

You sat on the high stool, leaning forward, resting your forearm on the polished wood, a empty glass which had contained a shot is between your two hands, you hadn't made any movements after gulping down the drink, since your mind has wandered into space, zoning out like your usual self.
You zoned out so much that you hadn't noticed the bartender was trying to get your attention, you snapped out from your dreamland and faced him, he gestured towards the empty glass in your hand, and you handed it to him willingly.
"One glass of wine please." You ordered before the bartender left, he soon returned with the drink you desired, your lips made contact with the round-shaped glass, and you took a sip.
Just then, someone started singing, his honey-like voice had captivated your attention, you set the glass down on the polished wood, and turned your body to face the stage. You met a beautiful man, his black hair was tied into a man bun, he wore a simple white shirt with jeans to put together. His hand grasping at the microphone, you were soon mesmerized by him.

You listened to him while he sang the first verse, a genuine smile crept upon your lips as you couldn't stop feeling the mixed emotions in you. It was so calm, so soothing, you had never expected this kind of performance in a local bar.

He stopped at a table, where a black duffle-bag has been placed on, you walked over confidently, and called him.
"Excuse me?" You asked, looking for his attention.
"Oh- hi, how may I help you?" He asked, you got so lost in his dark brown orbs that you almost forgot what you were here for.
"Oh uhm, I just wanted to give you this." You said, handing him the folded note you scribbled earlier, he took it raising an eyebrow at you, suspicion were written all over his face.
"Please consider it," you pleaded, "we would love to see you join us." You brought your left arm up, glancing at the watch, reading the time, you had to go home before it's too late, or you will be late to work tomorrow for sure.
"I have to go," you said, "bye!" And you walked off, leaving the young man dumbfounded.
The man unfolded the note you passed him, and his eyes widened at the words that were written.

Everyone's posting their short stories so whatever here I go:
I'm tired. Exhausted. Bored. Lonely. A finger traces the rim of the beer in front of me, slowly, almost afraid to complete the circle in fear that it would have nothing left to do after.
The sound of a beer being filled up. The sound of a text message sending, and then one being received right after. The sound of hushed conversations and drunken laughter. Everyone is relaxed and enjoying this temporary moment of escape from the rest of the world. Men boldly approach women, encouraged by the alcohol pulsing through their blood.
I sit, tucked away in the corner, and observing the scene in front of me as a spectator instead of a participant. Was this it? Is this all life really held? An exasperated sigh leaves my lips and my entire frame deflates. A hand raises my beer up to my lips and I take a small sip. The taste is repulsing, but still, for whatever reason, I find myself drinking more.
Another sigh. Another sip.
I move to rise from my seat, done with people-watching for the night and simply wanting to go home. But right as I'm about to do so, a spotlight slowly switches on, growing brighter until there is a clear view of a single mic standing alone, waiting to be used. Its pleas are answered quickly.
A man ambles into the light, a casual button-up tucked into jeans and a hand shoved into a single pocket. Hair curtains to the side from a middle part and silver hoop earrings shine in the luminescence. Two hands grab onto the mic, one covered in small tattoos lining his fingers and knuckles, and I see others peeking out from underneath the sleeve of his shirt. His head tilts back as he takes a short sip of water and then smiles quietly to himself, full of hidden secrets and thoughts.
Some conversations have died down, but most people ignore him, continuing on with the topic they were discussing with friends. Being left alone to converse with no one, I sink back into my seat and lean against the bar counter, legs crossed. Expectation rises with each second as the attractive young man prepares to perform.
And then he sings.
Involuntarily, a gasp escapes my lips in pleasant surprise as the clarity of the singing reaches my ears in delicate waves. Crystal-clear water flows over rocks, birds soar through fluffy white clouds, and sunlight reflects on the surface of water, sparkling and smiling and dancing hello in greeting. I'm left staring at the man in complete awe, watching as his eyes close and each note vibrates his vocal chords, stringing together to create a song of longing, wishing, pleading. I'm left wanting to run up to the spotlight and hug him so he no longer has to ask.
By now, the only conversations to remain are quiet whispers to friends, complimenting the gorgeous voice. Phones are raised to capture the moment while others wave, flashlights on and adding to the romantic atmosphere. Everyone is left in a trance, having no option but to listen and sway, the lyrics and melody taking everyone to different places and bringing up different memories.
Soon, too soon, too freaking soon, the final note of the song rings out, and there's a moment of silence. A moment to register, a moment to remember, until simultaneous applause greets the ending. Another sigh escapes my lips. I was unlikely to see him again, but the attractive singer had made me feel a little less lonely for just a moment more. Just a moment longer. Somehow, I felt motivated to continue forward with effort and purpose.
"Thank you! Thank you guys," the man says with a smile, waving and bowing to the enthusiastic audience. He steps off the stage and starts walking.
It takes a moment for me to realize that he's walking towards me, and by the time this fact registers, he's stopped in front of me. The gentle smile on his lips lifts up the corner of mine.
"Hey."

약간 속상한 일이든 짜증나는 일이든 있어서 기분이 별로인 상태로 간 바에서 담배 하나 물고는 술 대강 도수가 꽤 높은거 시키고는 한숨만 내쉬고 있는데 갑자기 바 안에서 노래가 나오고 가사가 완전 내 얘기 그래서 그 노래소리를 찾아 고개를 돌렸는데 노래를 부르고 있는 남자랑 눈이 딱 마주침 그리고 나만 바라보며 노래를 부르는 꼭 나를 위로해주는 것 같은 상상을 했습니다.

일주일을 귀에 피 흘려가며 들은 것치곤 생각보다 평범한 바였다. 어디 알바가 그렇게 잘생겼다고 누가 그랬다더니, 여긴가 보네.
잔잔한 방울 소리가 작은 소음들과 함께 울렸다. 이미 몇 잔 마신 건지, 붉은 기 도는 얼굴로 나를 반겼다. 왜인지 울듯한 눈에 이유를 물으니,

거하게 까이셨단다. 마주한 순간 사랑에 빠지셨다나, 뭐라나. 그러게 얼굴만 보고 달려드는 것 좀 고치라니까. 걱정보다 괜찮아 보이는 상태에 과일 하나를 집어 주니, 잘도 받아먹는다. 약간의 기계음이 들려왔다. 그러고 보니 노래 때문에 유명해졌댔나. 이름이, 뭐랬더라. 알 게 뭐냐는 생각에 달았을 즈음, 마지막조차 기억나지 않는, 오래되고 익숙한 단어들이 들려왔다.

적잖이 당황했다. 이 울림을, 그것도 이곳에서 듣게 될 줄은 상상도 하지 못했다. 언제 친해진 건지 바텐더로부터 들어온 정보에 의하면, 대충 그는 한국인이고 말도 능하지만, 한 번도 가 본 적은 없다고 한다.

묻기가 무섭게 자기가 찍었느니 어쨌느니, 득달같이 달려드는 걸 무시하고 노래에 집중했다. 어쩐지 눈을 마주하고 있는 듯했지만, 형체만 간신히 보이는 거리에서 이곳을 주시하고 있는 것만이 확실했다. 이쪽, 정면 아닌데.
노래가 끝난지도 모른 채, 빤히 바라만 봤을까, 갑작스레 들려온 박수 소리에 느지막이 손을 움직였다. 희미한 미소를 본 건 기분 탓이었을까.
연신 누군가와 연락을 주고받더니 이내 나를 두고 가버렸다. 먼저 오자고 한 게 누군데. 여전한 방울 소리와 함께, 작지만은 않은 빗소리가 울렸다.
있을 리 만무한 우산에 세차게 내리는 비를 구경만 하고 있었을까, 작은 인기척이 느껴졌다. 검은 바지와 검은 라이더 재킷, 오른쪽 어깨에 기타 가방과 붉은 기 도는 갈색 머리. 그리고 순간,
“JK.”
“제 이름, 물었잖아요.”
코끝에 닿은 그 향은, 비였을까.
