What an absolutely fantastic approach and landing. I loved the Toronto skyline. It took me back to my first visit to Canada, landing at midnight (5pm UK time) one Canada Day weekend. Trying to drive on the ‘wrong’ side of the road, navigating Younge Street to get to the Delta Chelsea (as it was then, in 1991), was a real adventure! But we really loved our holiday - thank you Canadians for making us feel so very welcome. It’s no wonder that I’ve been back several times. I love your country!😊🎉
Glad you enjoyed the video and had a good trip to Canada all those years ago. I can imagine what trying to drive on the "wrong" side of the road after a long flight would be like!
In my opinion Canadá did not, that is not, do the correct action, the Antonov _ 124 belongs to Russia. Whether or one is for or against the actions of Russia, confiscation, or stealing, the property of a other is just plain WRONG. If the situation were different and Canada found itself in a war situation, and Russia confiscated an aircraft from Canada ,the same thing would apply..Stealing is morally wrong!
The quality of the video is so good I can read the street sign for Dixon Rd. at 8:29 That is amazing. Let's not overlook the overpriced Park N Fly on the right folks. This plane landed at Runway 24 heading South West. I took off from that spot once about 20 years ago and I could see a storm about 3km out to the West towards Dixie Rd. I remember thinking I certainly hope they wait because that storm is heading right for us. Sure enough we sat on Runway 24 in a hold for 5 minutes and that storm just crushed us for about 5 to 10 minutes......lightning, plane rocked and shook, torrential rain........then we took off it was sunny after it passed. Surreal!
This is the best video that I have seen of what is undeniably the best landing approach to YYZ - the route that takes you right over downtown! Imagine being on that plane as a first-time visitor to Toronto not knowing anything about the city or what to expect. Your eyeballs would be falling out of their sockets as you saw for the first time Toronto - "the Mega-City" - unfold beneath you. Even the most jaded world traveler would be impressed. As an added bonus just as you were about to touch down on 24L you can see parked a Russian-owned Antonov 124 that was seized by the Canadian government. The mammoth cargo jet had just delivered a plane full of COVID-19 relief supplies when it was seized.
I'm a pilot of Cessna. Flying final is the best part of flying . It seems defying laws of physics somehow to go from flying to touchdown. Watch that airspeed though ! 😊
So beautiful to see Toronto when you're in the plane. I don't live too far from Toronto I live in Hamilton Ontario. Sometimes I'll visit Toronto to go to Canada wonderland. Can you see Canada's wonderland from in the plane. Was trying to see Canada wonderland.
It’s cool to see this video and just see all the homes for miles and miles but when you see videos of landing at YWG, YQR, or YXE for example, it’s one city in a more circular shape, where you see flat land for miles past the city limits.
Beautiful view of the flight. By the way, does anyone know if an app exists that displays speed and heading direction that can be downloaded onto my Android smartphone?

8:24 I wonder if that the Russian Antonov-124 that was grounded by Canada, confiscated, and then handed over to Ukraine?
yes actually that is the Russian Antonov that was impounded by Canada.

the An-124 is still sitting there.....

Great views of the approach and landing......and you taxied through the de-icing centre!
I'm glad we didn't have to de-ice as well, or it would have taken even longer to taxi! haha
