- PepeCoin was launched on March 5th 2016 making it one of the earliest memecoins in existence, along with Dogecoin. It was originally launched using its own Proof-of-Work Layer 1 blockchain network, meaning the coins were distributed via mining (Like Dogecoin & Bitcoin) and not via an ICO or smart contract. The project was listed on Bittrex and several other exchanges in 2017 under the name "Memetic" as the exchange owners were concerned about the controversy surrounding Pepe the Frog during the 2016 US Presidential election.
In the meantime, a fake $Pepe launched. Sadly, the fake Pepe got more traction and "hype" than the original Pepecoin. The Pepening, refers to the flippening of the fake $Pepe project.

@@maintenancecapital I think when you stake you give them permission to use them for the network and they reward you with BasedAI and it's still yours and you can withdraw them anytime you want.

My portfolio has been about 95% pepecoins for the last 7 or so years that i have been holding Pepecoins. They have outperformed everything in the long run including even bitcoin and even has out performed physical gold or silver that I held for decades.
The pepening is inevitable.

Amazing video! PepeCoin is the best memecoin Ive seen in the crypto space by far.
I have been in to cryptos sence around 2015 mostly with mineing BTC but the og pepe was the first alt coin i ever got my toes wet with when i tripped over pepecoins in the summer of 2016, which I started with a small bag that i staked to earn more till I had enough to run my first master toad. then keep flipping my earned coins from toading into more toads.
and in all the years in crypto and being an active member in the memetic -pepecoin community i have never seen anything thats as good as pepecoins. Ive also done better over the last 7 years with pepecoins then i even had in the best of times mining Bitcoin.

you need to edit out tyler from the video. you can do it in the built in video editor. he didn't call anything. he got a locked allocation to promote it. then he acted like a fool and he has no more pepecoins. he didn't call anything he is a shiller. If anything. I was the first one to call it. I have a video on my channel calling the pepenning narrative when the coin just launched on ETH. it's all documented in real time on my channel.

Your storytelling was very confusing at 3:30. You said the ether version was called PEPE making it sound like the popular PEPE is the correct one because it came onto eth at about the same time. But what you meant to say is that they called it PEPECOIN, the same name as the original, and at the same time somebody else made a different ERC20 called PEPE which is the fake one with over a billion dollars in volume daily.
Looking at the charts I think PEPE got all of the market share simply because it got the drop on PEPECOIN. PEPE coingecko chart starts on 4/17/23 while you said PEPECOIN bridged on 4/29/23. Wild what a couple weeks can do.
