Thanks Roger, I found this video very informative. I just purchased the Pro 10W with Air and will be setting up very soon. I downloaded the 400x grid zip as I thought this was a great idea.
I bought the X5 Mecpow. For now, I plan on cutting acrylic with cutouts for rocker switches and 110v plugs and need to be precise where 0,0 is on the honeycomb bed but not in the bottom left corner. The gird you burned into the base board I like, but as someone else committed, it's not visible through the honeycomb. My sheets of acrylic are 11.75" x 11.75" x 1/8". I'm using the full width of the acrylic and 5" of the height. So, how do you find 0,0 on the honeycomb without using the bottom left corner as 0,0 as the acrylic has to be 90° to 0,0. While writing this question I came up with an idea of how to get honeycomb bed square to machine and use the bottom left corner as 0,0. But I would like any suggestions you might have.
Are you using Absolute Coordinates? You can also make a trial pass at low power on a piece of cardboard, then mark the bed with pins for repeated positioning. I do this with odd shapes when I need to be precise.
Hi Roger. Need your help here. I am gonna buy one of these in the next few hours but my lilema is, should I buy the Mecpow 10w or should I go for the Longer Ray5? I am a beginner and this is gonna be my first laser
If looking at the 10 watt model, both are pretty much equal. The Ray 5 will let you work "offline" via the touch screen, but if you do not intend to do that, there is not much difference.
I wonder if you could help me out with this little problem. I am using a Mecpow 10w with airassist. I downloaded an SVG file and am able to engrave it. At present, I am just engraving on cardboard. When I try to cut the same design, I immediately get a "connection lost" and it stops the laser. Any suggestions about what may be causing this. I am using a laptop.
got this as an additional message "ALARM:8 Homing fail. Cycle failed to clear limit switch when pulling off. Try increasing pull-off setting or check wiring

Thanks for a great video. I want to cut 4mm thick cork sheet. Do you think this model would handle it?
Yes, but may take two passes.

Would you happen to know of any Z axis adjustment mods? That little thumb screw is rather cumbersome. Thank you.
Not that I am aware of. Several brands have the same issue.
What version of lightburn should I get for the Mecpow X3?
Which ever is the most current.
merci pour cette vidéo interessante
Question: what’s the point of making a grid if you are going to put the honeycomb on top of it?
Honeycomb board is only there when cutting. I do not use it for engraving.
@@rogersshop that makes sense. With the Mecpow, would the honeycomb be ok to use for both?
Yes@@rickc865
Home Depot drip sprinkler tubing!
Silicone tubing works best. 6mm OD. 4mm ID

Bad USB cable. Happens a lot.......... That is my first guess.
@@rogersshop That's an easy solution. Will have a new one tomorrow.
Thanks,

@@ronaldderi7471 What software are you using? This sounds odd. If you can engrave, then you should also be able to cut.
This laser reminds me of my Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro
have tried to download your grid and have not received it in my email. Have tried several times.
After checkout, there is a link to download it.
hardi backer may make a great base .
