Couldn't find any hinges with long enough leaf's on them to work with so ended up mending these. All in all they turned out good and they fit like a glove.
Yep, new gears made a big difference, just letting it run out to see if the mainsprings for the chimes strike for the full 30 days. Mainsprings had some hard crud caked on them that I had to manually remove, could have been the cause of them stopping early. So far its running good.
@@jamesmartin5370 Yup it would only chime for about the first four days. The time movement would run for the full 8 days. I'm in no hurry for it, so take as long as you as you need for the test period.
I have a gustav becker that has the brass square face like this. With the pin holding in the hands. On the chimes it says dom gong. What year do you think its from? It still works just fine.
Tough to know exact year, Dom Gong was a trademark of Gustav Becker registered in about 1904, I don't know how long this trademark was used so sometime after about 1904.
Hi James !!! Got almost same GB wall clock. But, the quarter chimes are working good for less a day only. My guess is that the spring may have been cut short. Am I right? What type or size replacement of chime spring shall I get and where to get it?
Not sure if you are right or not? It will need to be inspect to locate source. Chime train gears and pinions may be misaligned due to wear causing too much friction.
You are a master. So fun to watch you perform magic.
Thanks Troy
Wonderful demo James, many thanks. Jim from AUSTRALIA.

You make it look SO easy, therefore, it's not easy.
Hey Jim, Steve from Georgia - thanks for making this video!

@@jamesmartin5370 welcome Sir
I was wondering if you’d be interested in doing a workshop tour video? I would be very interested to see your workspace/clock collection!
I will think about that, might be interesting, thanks
Great job
Thanks,
Tried to find hinges to match but no luck so fixed the original ones.
Дякую вам за працю 😊❤
Рад, что вам понравилось....
I'm facing the same issues as you've described regarding the winding gears. Where did you get the new gears?

Did you cut the new gears or did you have them made some where else?
I had someone else fabricate them.
