It is a fantastic deck. I love the mix of "old and new", the use of symbolism. The illustrations are gorgeous The touch of humour makes me smile. I don't buy many decks but I saw it in a shop on display and fell in love with it.
The artist also made a Marseille-style deck from what I remember. I guess I can see its effects on the majors, like Judgment having the mother/father/son, or the huge flames erupting from inside the Tower, the Death card being a hybrid of the two systems, and a couple more stuff. Though I also liked how she tackled heavily RWS trumps like the High Priestess and the Lovers.
I totally agree with you on the LoScarabeo guidebooks. They really feel lazy and it's such a shame especially since they published some really good decks that offer the substance for a really good guidebook. And also with all the other things it feels like they're upping their game (cardstock, layout of the cards, box) just the guidebooks are still almost a waste of paper. This deck is really interesting. I love the addition of the gold foiling. The way it's done here really adds sth. The cards feel more alive and elegant at least for me. Also the addition of the more unconventional, unusual details is super intriguing. Sometimes I really love them and they add an interesting aspect but in other cases I don't like them at all and they feel useless. But that's just me.
Yeah they really need to update their standards for their books for sure. I too love the whimsical additions symbolically, her art is wonderful and I would encourage everyone to check out her Instagram and website as she has some wonderful things on there!
Lo Scarabeo usually uses three kinds of card stock for their decks. Tuck boxes, kits, and the hard cases like the deck in the video all have different card stock. I have a lot of their decks in that kind of box and they all have that thick, stiff card stock. It’s my least favorite of their card stocks, actually.
OK, so I totally caved and watched this despite knowing I would probably want this deck after seeing it. And yes, I now want this deck. It's STUNNING, and I love so many of the choices that have been made regarding the depictions and compostion. I also really like how it feels both old and contemporary at once. The artstyle is gorgeous and the limited palette really brings an elegance to the deck I don't feel it would quite have with a more gregarious colour selection (though I do think that could be a fun alternative version).
Hehe! I agree! It would be soo interesting to se it colored. The artist has a wonderful style you should check out their Insta: instagram.com/elisaseitzinger/ There are are some wonderful works in color posted and it makes me want a color version of the deck!! ☺
I love this deck and enjoyed hearing your thoughts on this deck. I wish the artist had more input in the guidebook as I really would have loved to know more about their choices on the symbolism.
Thank you soooo much for the video… I have this deck and love it…. I am about to do a review of this deck on my channel as well.. I have just subscribed to your channel so I can watch more often and of course I have given it a a thumbs up….

Interesting deck, but I really dislike the Queen of Wands card
Thats fair. The world would be a boring place if we all didnt have different tastes.
