That was a very fine result . I love to listen to your commentary and thought processes as you carve . I find those very informative and useful. Thank you for sharing all this and best wishes
Really like the texture you got from the wire wheel. Made a small one of these last year & gave it ot the grandkids, gonna give the chainsaw version a try this year like you suggested for the garden to go with my gnome/fairy homes
Came out great Matt. Was that your first attempt and what happened to the ears? I'm glad you didn't copy the Disneyfied yum yum head from Night at the Museum, whichI've seen in quite a few videos. I carved hundreds of these, years ago, from tiny ones to big ones. What I found that its really easy to get something that looks right from some angles, but not others. Slight changes can make it look right, but can just as easily make it look wrong. My best seller was a stylised (stretched tall) version painted with Plastikote stone finish paint. My friends all have these as fence post toppers (3 x 3 and 4 x 4) and stair post toppers, these also sold well
Yeah I saw the ears and thought not needed for a beginner. That's a cool idea fence post toppers, I might have to borrow that and make some NZ money 💰 👍. Cheers for 👀 watching
Very effective carving. I might try a big version for my garden👍
Go for it! was thinking of doing the same.
I dig the wire brush look... But those are dangerous little buggers...👌👍😂😂
Yeah, I don't use those wire brushes often because of that reason. Cheers for watching 👍

Im going to try and be here; going to see momma. ✌️
Cheers. Sorry to hear your Mum is in Hospital - take care. Matt
Absolutely awesome Matt. Sandblasting, now that's an idea. Love the patterned effect. ❤❤❤
Cheers John. Are you back carving yet?
@@MattCarves Just put up my take on a watcher. I think it needs more work
Great video! I carved on a smaller scale (1in = 1cm) in a bar of soap! Despite some crumbling it went pretty well!
Nice work! that would of carved like butter
muchas gracias , me ha dado muchas ideas

Awesome. Will look good in the garden, happy Carving 👍
Nice one Matt! Think I’ll go out to the garage and do one now!
Wow. Getting it done 👍 cheers Jim
Awesome, those would make good incense stick holders.
Definitely! Cheers Mark
Hey Matt, thanks for the tutorial, I'll have to give it a go!
Would look good as a big chainsaw carving I reckon
Nice! I need to get the basics down first, such as touch and technique.
Ficou muito bom! 👏👏👏👏👏
👍
Спасибо! Очень круто!
Any tips if you dont have a bandsaw? Assuming a hand coping saw would do a similar job.
Yeah a coping saw could work is wood not to thick, but you could use a normal hand saw to take away excess then carve up to the lines.
@@MattCarves Perfect! Thanks for the reply Matt.
Love your channel, happy carving!
