Carnivore Rebel here! Please listen people, I am begging every family member and friend to please stop the processed foods and go carnivore or keto. My family has gone through hell this month July 2022. Three family members got Covid. Two were hospitalized. I brought them home and worked like a crazy person cleaning out their refrigerators and dumping all the crap processed foods. I cooked Real Food and cleaned. I had everyone's cooperation because I nearly died 8 months ago. I had Covid for the 3rd time and refused hospitalization. My family and my Long Covid Recovery Team went nuts when Dec 29, 2021 I dumped all MEDS and immediately ate one day fasted 2 days for one month. I switched to OMAD and am carnivore. My sister went back in the hospitol July 16 and they intubated her. She didnt make it. ALL BECAUSE SHE WAS GIVEN A TON OF PILLS AND WAS METABOLICALLY DISFUNCTIONAL. Dammmmm she was ready to CHANGE, I HOPE YOU ALL ARE!!!! I grew up on a farm , I have gone back to how I was raised. Good fats, lots of fats. My brother in law , who is usually never sick, is now recovering from Covid and now eating all meat. Yesterday I was diagnosed with the most recent varient of Covid, caught from my sister. Scripps ran multiple tests and said, " Whatever YOU are doing KEEP IT UP", YOU are far more healthy than you were 9 months ago and NO MORE FATTY LIVER". Whereas Covid nearly killed me before, today I have a mild headache, sore throat and runny nose while my sister died. She was my best friend. She was so happy the last week of her life with me cooking all grass fed beef and bacon for the household. The hospitol food was GARBAGE. Not ONE of my sisters doctors talked about REAL FOOD. I have stood in the ER in two hospitol recently and watched all the patients flow in. the #1 comorbidity of Covid isnt obesity per se , its METABOLIC DISFUNCTION. You can just see it in the people as they come in. It breaks my heart.

Dr. Chaffee, I'm wondering what you think about Judy Cho's assertion that a "beef only" carnivore diet can lead to a thiamine deficiency, especially if someone is coming into this way of eating with a thiamine deficiency. I''ve been mainly following the ''beef only'' crowd and I''m starting to wonder. I eat beef virtually every day, but sometimes want some pork belly or some chicken and fish for a more rounded nutrient profile. But to hear the beef, salt and water advocates, we''re getting absolutely everything we need from that, but Judy Cho absolutely disagrees. I''m almost feeling burned out trying to figure out who is correct. For now, I''m doing variety: beef, lamb, pork, chicken, fish, eggs. Thanks for any clarification you can add to this conversation. Our health is too important to have these conflicting recommendation by people I''ve come to highly respect and appreciate.

So i know you're against fruit and honey but I've been on keto for a year and full carnivore for 8 months and the other day I tried experimenting with fruit and honey, not even alot it was a cup of watermelon and a table spoon of honey and what I noticed was all my mental clarity went out the window and I had massive brain fog and I love reading but when I tried to read I had barely any reading comprehension? What do you think caused this, do you think it was a immune response which caused inflammation in my brain which caused the brain fog or do you think my brain would have to re learn how to utilize carbs as a fuel source since I've been in ketosis for so long, I figured you'd be the guy to ask since you're a neurosurgeon, if you have a thought about this I'd be very grateful for your input , it's been stressing me out wondering why this happened, thanks!

OK, let’s get one thing straight, your liver is still producing glucose(neoglucogenesis) which goes into the blood stream and your brain uses some of this glucose for the majority of its energy still.
When we are on long term keto or carnivore diets our blood glucose levels are the same as they have always been due to neoglucogenesis in the liver.
As for your experience with your honey and fruit, they certainly would have cause an insulin spike and this may have had something to do with the way you felt.

When I then eat my normal amount of salt, my weight drops a few pounds overnight. The biggest mistake I ever made was to "throw away the scale" as so many (too many) recommend.
