If any of you people are here from 8 Bit Drummer, (or not, it doesn't matter) I suggest you check out the full playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLFCp1PLqgPzCrfc4BALfINUs7ueJMkUcP.html
Especially Level Six. If you thought this was strange for a Tetris theme, Level 6 is even more so, in my opinion.
I am! I was so surprised to hear this out of a Tetris game, but I'm glad Jerod showed it to me lol. Such a great OST!
Yes I am :D its amazing... both, your music and 8-bit drummer ;)
Nope, I’m here from SiIvaGunner. :p
Honestly, most of the tracks here could pass for instrumental versions of Phil Collins songs. I’ve got no idea *what* they were actually going for with this soundtrack. 0__o
@@tdark987 Since I wrote the music, I’ll enlighten you a bit…
When I wrote these pieces I wasn’t looking at the game, I was looking at the backgrounds, which were all pastoral scenes, and my direction was to write to them and not worry about the game at all. Also, having just done the 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' video game for Disney (and having to compress my tracks down to 4, 3, 2, and 1 voices for that project) I was thrilled to be working in a format with NO restrictions. And, although I liked Phil Collins, my real influence at the time was David Foster. Very noticeable in some of the tracks.
@@mijnordna Thanks for explaining - it makes a whole lot more sense now that I understand the thinking behind it.
And very nice job too on the music itself. :-)
It’s really quite astonishing how many bad, mediocre or just plain forgotten games have great soundtracks.
Just an aside, but your comment about restrictions is interesting. It seems like there were two distinct ways game composers reacted to the switch to CD audio around the mid 90s; there were those who seized it as an opportunity to show their full potential, and those who seemed to almost lose their footing from the sheer amount of possibilities it’d suddenly opened up (some opted to stick with synths and MIDI-style track composition well into the PS1 era; e.g. Uematsu and the FF 7/8/9 soundtracks).
My name's Jim Andron. I wrote this music back in ‘92. I can’t believe what an afterlife it has had, but I’m very grateful. Thanks to all of you who continue to enjoy it!
Will we ever get to hear the soundtrack in higher quality?
@@betamax1815 I don't know. I have most of the cuts (missing level 7), but I'm not sure how to proceed. Have been talking to Unfortunateface to do another vinyl release, we'll see.
@@mijnordna The easiest and most accessible way would probably be some kind of digital release. If there's going to be another vinyl release I hope it's not limited to only vinyl.
Wow, no way! This music is incredible, I've loved it ever since 92!
I hope you can get a vinyl or a CD out of this and other works
Now, for the local weather
Heh. Good one, it kinda does sound like that. At least, I can imagine. I’ve never heard this used for anything like that, but I come from England, where we have the BBC, so that’s probably it.
For me it has either the weather channel sound or that music that dish Network has when it's telling people a channel is no longer on that number.
"Here's your local forecast, accurate and dependable from The Weather Channel."
"Currently in your area, it's 71 degrees with clear skies."
"Tonight: Cloudy. Low: 51, chance of precipitation is 20 percent."
"Your 3-Day Forecast."
"The Week Ahead."
@@fixman88 "A Tornado/Severe Thunderstorm/Flash Flood Watch has been issued for your area"
*cue peaceful music*
@@Zalure * *Weather Channel Chime Plays* *
Cd-I dev: "Ok its just Tetris, you can basically do anything, even Korobeiniki again, but you dont need to go too crazy with it."
Jim Andron: *begins levitating in the studio*
"Thank you for calling Tetris Inc. We are experiencing greater than usual held calls. We appreciate your patience while we get all of the blocks to fall into place to clear a representative for your line."

FWIW every Like warms my heart! ❤️
Imagine if Captain N had jokes like this
No. It's, "Thank you for calling The Tetris Company..."
Anyone else here feel nostalgia for this without knowing it prior?
platypusduck54 yes
me
That's the magic of this kind of music. It makes you feel like you're watching an educational video or something from the 80s or 90s, where the teacher had to bring in the big tube TV and VHS player on a cart. Yes, I'm old enough to remember those!
@@superstache7173 I'm old enough to remember 16 millimeter film projectors and 35 mm filmstrips.
That's... kinda accurate actually.
The music in this game is the definition of 90s aesthetics.
Tetris was made possible by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and by contributions to your local PBS station from viewers like you. Thank you!
This is so chill. Reminds me of Bejeweled series for some reason.
Dude, I like your taste. First soundtracks I paid money for were Bejeweled 2 and 3.
this does indeed give me beyond the network vibes
Exactly!
Bejeweled has an amazing soundtrack too
Definitely
This sounds like the instrumental to a Phil Collins song.
I can just imagine hearing his voice over this lol
literally
Ah hahaha that made me chuckle
I can hear the incoming drum solo.
Fun Fact: This song was used in the ARG series, "Liminal Land". In their "Company Training Tape" video, it is used as the background track.
I know some of the tracks were used in Gemini Home Entertainment too.
This video is called “visitors satisfaction.”
I just bought this on vinyl. God in heaven above I cannot wait to hear it
Gabriel Wolk where? :o
THIS HAS A VINYL RELEASE?!
@@silhouettoofaman2935 Yes, but don't expect to get your hands on it. It was sold by Unfortunate Face with only 500 copies being made, and the minimum price is US$150.
@@iammaybeabro4598 Dang...oh well, at least we still have UA-cam vids
@@silhouettoofaman2935 Yeah, they were pretty much just MP3 rips of this video, anyway. Jim Andron himself has the remastered versions of most songs available on his SoundCloud.
Sounds like a theme song for a late 80’s investigation or Crime tv show
True... also sounds like a Foriegner song?
I just came to the comments section to write that exact thing lol
This sounds like it'd play at a really sad moment in a jrpg before they realise there's still hope when the music soars up temporarily
Came here from Jacob Geller's videos. This song sounded so familiar, but there's no way I've ever played this version of Tetris before. There's no reason for this to go this hard
I just uploaded all the tracks I have for Tetris. Soundcloud, Jim Andron, Tetris CD-i album
Thank you! Those uploads are so crisp 🔥🔥
I love this song so much. Even though i wasn't born till 2002, i feel awfully nostolgic for this game because of it's music. Jim Andron knocked it out of the park.
POV: You take a walk just early enough in the morning that everyone else is still sleeping
4-6 AM. The liminal time of the world
god it just sounds so good
I didn't even know Tetris CD-i was a thing until I saw 8BitDrummer's cover. Dang, if this isn't the definition of "aesthetic" then I don't know what is!
bro i've had this song floating around my head for literal years, never remembering what it was called. Thank god I finally found it. Now I can die in peace
This song... This is as 1992 as it gets. Was a quiet year...
Just love that gated reverb snare sound
If it wasn't for the CD-i's input lag this would have been the best version of tetris EVER.
Ah... The theme of Google Images Puppy.
this literally sounds like vaporwave and its so dope
The Level 0 Theme from Tetris (CD-i) (1992) reminds me of On the Wings of Love (1982) by Jeffrey Osborne and Through the Barricades (1986) by Spandau Ballet.
Man, this track really tugs at my heart strings. I've listened to it recently, but it sounds so nostalgic to me. The aesthetics in this version of Tetris are strong.
It feels like I’m a kid in the 90s in the waiting room at the doctors office playing with the toys
Every time those gated drums come in I get insane goosebumps. So good!
Serious Twin Peaks vibes! I love it!
Such a beautiful soundtrack overall. Makes you think for a moment.
8BitDrummer Gang?
Hell yea!
Yeah!!
8BITDRUMMER GANG RISE UP
Yeah boiiiiii
🥳
Track 1 is sooo smoothly soft ❤️brings back peaceful memories. 👍
What is this?
What is this genre?
Have I played this game before?
Have I watched somebody play this game before?
Why does it make me feel so *_nostalgic?!_*
How did I get here?! Same as it ever was!!
1. A game.
2. Basically Vaporwave.
3. Maybe not. But you should play it.
4. Some people already played it.
5. Because its the old generations.
@@-Poka- More like 80's movie soundtrack since this sounds like you'd hear it in a movie from that era
1. Tetris CD-I soundtrack, says it in the name, ya cretin. The composer is actually in this comment section
2. I guess it's kinda like smooth jazz or something. Basically Easy Listening music. this ain't vaporwave, vaporwave is sample-based, and takes alot of inspiration from Easy Listening music from around this time (80s-90s).
3. Maybe, maybe not. It's Tetris CD-I, from what I've heard it's one of the better CD-I games, and has a really soothing aesthetic. It has a few game design issues, like as you play, it's split up into levels to change scenery, but it leads to a really annoying loading screen in between, which isn't great for Tetris, which you typically want no interruptions so you can keep focus. There also isn't any in-game noises for the blocks, which is a bit strange, and might harm gameplay a bit. Also, it probably isn't worth getting a CD-I for this, just emulate it.
4. Maybe, maybe not. Probably not frankly, it's not like you're gonna see people playing obscure(-ish) Tetris games much, especially when they're pratically all the same
5. You've probably heard alot of music like this, it's easy listening stuff, which appears in alot of settings to relax the people there. Also in alot of TV Shows and Movies too. But you probably haven't heard THIS before.
pfp checks out.
After all this time, I finally get to hear the unaired Law & Order pilot theme
If you stuck this onto a vaporwave album, I think it'd fit in perfectly. I almost get a sense of false nostalgia when listening to it; particularly, a memory of life in the 90s, even though I was actually born in 2000. That vibe makes it amazing to listen to, and if UA-cam still had star ratings on videos, this would get a 5 star from me.
Lo-fi beats to t-spin to (this is literally lo-fi before lo-fi, and I love it)
I wholeheartedly believe that 90s were a time where we peaked as a species. At least, in terms of pop culture.
There are lots of other good decades but none feels this magical.
This absolutely slaps
I can not get enough of this song
This is surprisingly relaxing for a Tetris song. I like it!
''Sir, a problem just came up.''
''What happened? We only have a couple minutes to prove my innocence!''
''Yeah sorry, but something happened and, uh... the evidence we have to prove you're not guilty got replaced with a bunch of Tetriminos.''
Real talk though, this track is surprisingly chill. And I kinda like it.
The game was just about stacking blocks, the soundtrack din't have to be this good
I love this so much. Very beautiful😇
1980's action movie, movies main hero walks into a resort for his contact and stumbles upon the contact's sister who climbs out the swimming pool to this music and who will end up being his girl by the end.
That's exactly what this track is lol
I was thinking it would play in the end scene where the main guy mourns the loss of his friends to the crime syndicate they fought
I've only listened to this music from the Philips CD-i game Tetris on UA-cam before and it sounds really relaxing. It may be perfect for helping people to get rid of their stress and forget unhappy bad times in the past.
I've heard Philips CD-i has few good games such as such as The 7th Guest, Burn:Cycle, Tetris, Pac-Attack, The Apprentice, and Lemmings despite being a poor console.
Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪
It's incredible to come by rare gems like this. Would love to hear this in tetris effect
Expect an influx of Jacob Geller fans! - Awesome music too!
I came to this video after listening to music from Irisu Syndrome, and this music really reminds me of that game.
Imagine being a guy in the early nineties getting paid by a company to make music for an ambitious console rendition of Tetris, and you just start cooking for absolutely no reason.
What actually brought me here is a retweet of gameplay footage of this game from Tetris' official Twitter page
WHAT IS THAT MELODY ⁉️⁉️⁉️🎵🎶🎵🎵🎼🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The CDI did something right? To be fair, this wasn't a very good port of Tetris and my God the music is incredible!
the cdi is the home of Hotel Mario
@@arcanepool That's bad, very bad!
Imo it wasnt really a good port. But the music is incredible!
@@NintenFoxy-pc8jz well sugar, I thought I spelt wasn't lol. Hey it is still the best CDI game, which isn't saying much.
@@NintenFoxy-pc8jz How is it not a good port? It seems to control pretty good, the 8-Bit Guy said it was his 2nd favorite Tetris.
Here from Liminal Land

Wow, beautiful.
80s and 90s music = godtier mystical perfection.
T r u l y legendary…
Very good music and used the menu
To me, it sounds like you woke up at four in the morning to the end credits of a detective drama from the 80's/90's.
This deserves way more views
Karl Jobst brought me here
Anyone else here because of The 8-bit Drummmer?
YOOOOO
A resident evil 4 hd video brought me here but this video led me to 8bit he's awesome
This is making me nostalgic even tho I just recently started listening to this soundtrack
this soundtrack is just otherworldly
almost sounds like gran turismo music but vaporwave
This is straight New Age music
If anyone can give me some suggestions of other types of instrumentals like this. I love it.
it's just so peak
This should be the end credits song for 2020
The only Nintendo franchise that worked on the CD-i
Came from The8BitDrummer. Holy crap, this is Tetris?
I'm pleasantly surprised as well
You think this sounds odd for Tetris? Try going down the playlist on my channel all the way to Level 6.
Such a beautiful song...
Incredibly 90s. Would fit right into an episode of Dorktown.
This sounds like a song that would play in a Plants vs Zombies anime, if such a thing were to exist.
CDi war damals eine Revolution und die Musik zu diesem Spiel saustark
Kinda reminds me of Plants vs Zombies.
For me, it reminds me of PvZ2's select your seeds theme and the boombox zombie's theme in Neon Mixtape Tour.
Reminds me of Dire Dire Docks
So... your telling me this is from a tetris game? One of, if not THE most calming songs i've ever heard is from a tetris game?
This goes so hard.
Perfect toilet music.
Ngl, the first second made me think this was gonna go into the title screen for OOT.
So nostalgic and dramatic... I'm like back to the past.
Also, 1001st like!
this game's soundtrack is real, it reminds me of vaporwave vibes
this music sounds so good to just zone out to
Thos would be great in an Ace Attorney game
Edit was for spelling errors
Is this what heaven sounds like?
Mario, why do you have a baseball bat?
Why does this sound like the wii forcast/weather channel?
