  • Back by demand, snippets of how Sky Box Office looked on Cable & Wireless back in 1998, CWC never took Sky's promos for a while, they instead opted out and used their own. Although they opt in early before the film starts.
The last clip is taken from August 1998 when SBO revamped, they changed their logo again in that September, when Sky Movies changed theirs.

2:10 that's exactly how I remember it back in the day! The countdown allowed me to start my VCR right on cue for the start of the movie, since I knew how long it took to wind the tape in and start recording!

This is a blast from the not-so-long-ago past. I remember that SKY logo.

So it was 2.99 on Sky, but 2.95 on Cable & Wireless? Huh, that's a savings of 0.04 pounds!

Incorrect. Every other cable operator in the UK did have Front Row, however Cable & Wireless opted to use Sky Box Office instead, as seen here. I know this as a) I recorded the clip and b) we were C&W customers back in the day. We received a lot of promotional material when the service launched. C&W did have their own opts to the service but these were inconsistent and were dropped after a few months.
Front Row only came to Cable & Wireless in 2000 when it had been bought by NTL and was getting incorporated into NTL’s platform.

@@steviegTVreturns Sadly channel 54 of Front Row wasn't available in these CWC areas in 2000

@@jamesmitchell8922 I want to say it was Channel 51 that wasn’t available. You’re right one of them was missing on CWC, but I think that was just in part of them pushing customers towards the Digital services when they were phasing out some services from analogue.

@@steviegTVreturns On the Archive website, I can see a Cable Guide (NTL) magazine that has 51-53 but no 54 on its listings.
