Manufacturers description:
Built from recycled 2.5-layer Pertex® Revolve fabric with a fluorocarbon-free DWR treatment, it is our first ever mono-polymer waterproof jacket. It uses a polyester outer and membrane, which means that, in addition to being 100% recycled, it also has the future potential to be fully recycled at the end of its life.
Waterproof to 20,000 HH with an MVTR breathability rating of 20,000g, it features a pair of zipped handwarmer pockets large enough for a map. To help tailor the fit to the conditions, it uses an adjustable hem and cuffs, plus a two-way adjustable hood with polymer peak. Lightweight and packable, it also comes with a pair of deep-venting pit zips to keep you fresh and in control when the pace, the trail or the temperature climbs.

Really appreciate the technical nature of this review
Thanks, great review. I´ll buy it. I've seen it on sales for about 70 €.
Thanks for the review - I really appreciated the explanation for the statistics, especially about the breathability !
You are most welcome, so happy I could be of help ☺️
Hi, you seem like a nice fellow and after watching your great review of this jacket i purchased 2 online brand new one for myself and one for my wife, the first time out in a light shower without backpack`s on we found they both wetted out within minutes on the shoulders and high back, did you actually try the jacket in the rain before the review, i was left very disappointed, Regards George.
Same here,
Bought one for my wife just a week ago. Tested under the shower and the front zip is not waterproof and there are patches on the front where it lets water through into the inside of the pockets so anything will be wet in your pockets.
And even on the label Rab says you have to apply waterproofing to the jacket when needed!
So it is basically a not even waterproof jacket only using recycled waterproof materials!
My 10 year old Jack Wolfskin Texapore jacket is 100% waterproof and never had to apply anything to it!
Bought the jacket Thursday and returned it Monday. Wore for just 30 mins and my back was wet due to condensation I have doubts about the breathability claims which is sad because I really rate Rab gear.
That’s unusual, I’m using this jacket for nearly two years now and found it being used more frequently that my £400 ME Lhotse, purely as it’s best balance between performance and comfort. Had to re-proof it just once a year and it works great. Not sure was your jacket faulty or you use it in more harsh conditions. Sorry if my review have brought you just trouble. I still have same jacket and it’s my go to for hiking where conditions won’t be severe, where I swap it for goretex pro jacket.
Brilliant review!
6 months later this jacket rrp £110 is £60. I have lots of Rab stuff, montane,ME are 2 other UK companies making good hiking gear. I been looking for a mid weight packable waterproof jacket,Rab downpour plus 2.0 is at the top of my list rrp £135 but not until 30%+ off price. If you dont want to pay retail then create an account with Rab as 1st order gets 10% off. So in reality nobody should ever pay full rrp for any item of clothing. Tee shirts/base layers should not be a loose fit. Good show keep it up.
Thank you for your comment and kind words. This jacket still going strong after another few month of use. For more extreme use I have ME Lhotse, it took me so long to decide between that and other Rab goretex jacket. I’ve even bought both and returned one to shop after two days of nitpicking every detail. Still feel like haven’t used it enough to make proper review, but so far I’m very impressed. Of course it’s heavier, much more noisy and at completely different price point. Rab Downpour plus 2.0 will be strong contender if I’ll have to replace my downpour Eco though 😉
Really well done, thanks!
What fantastic and very informative review 😊
Thank you so much for your kind words ☺️
Great review. Could you let me know how this jacket folds / stuffs in to pocket please?
Thank you very much for your kind words.
Not sure do I understand your question correctly so I’ll answer best I can. One of pockets have additional internal zip pull. So you stuff it like you would try to stuff it to your pocket inside out. It fills that space quite tightly but it’s easy to do, so in my opinion good balance between easiness of packing and size / form factor. Hope that helps, please let me know if you would have any other questions 😊
Busy looking for new waterproof jacket, thanks for the review
Hope it was useful, and thank you for watching ☺️
Cześć, fajna recka. Możesz zdradzić ile masz wzrostu i jaki rozmiar kurtki masz na sobie podczas filmu ? Żaden ze mnie model, a nie wszystko można stacjonarnie przymierzyć. Pozdrawiam
Michał
I'm a tall medium (6"1). Should I get a medium or large for better layering? Thanks for a great video

Hey. Thanks a lot it means a ton to me ☺️
Downpour eco or torrentshell 3L?
In a few sites about tests i saw that torrentshell had better waterproof, where downpour had better breathability. Do you agree with that? I searching for a best waterproof, but with cheap price. My heart wants downpour, but my mind tells me, that 3L will be better with that.
Please answer, best regards for You
Great video, thank you so much
Thank YOU 😊
Well done!
Thank you very much 🥰
Very good review
I purchased the Rab Eco Downour in March and finally wore in decent rain yesterday 1 May for about 25 minutes, unfortunately water permeated the jacket around the shoulders, arms and neck. Very disappointed and will be returning for a refund later this week. Definitely not waterproof.
Iam confused as to what jacket to buy.
This Rab Downpour or for £20 more, the Patagonia Torrentshell.
Please make any suggestions?
Hi, I don’t have personal experience with a Patagonia Torrentshell. At quick glance it’s made of 3L material which is potentially more robust, at the same time it seems to have lower ratings for waterproofness and breathability. Couldn’t find specific rating for material used on this jacket but in general their H2No material waterproofness is rated 10000-20000 which at top end matches Rab jacket and breathability 12000-15000 against 20000 for Rab jacket. That being said they seem to have similar features so I would choose one that you like more or even better fits you more. Hope that helps and sorry for delay with my answer.
@@hikingdad2855 Thank you for your thoughts and advice,it will help me with my choice.
@@alanrobinson2229 great pleasure, I’m delighted I was able to help ☺️
Is it warm?
No, it's a shell jacket not an insulated jacket.
Who else had issues with the zipper jamming?
i bought one and its abaolute rubbish it really is
1000 mm is one WHOLE meter!!....over three ft that is!!
It sounds insane when put in that perspective, still pressure we add on the top of that fabric is what makes biggest difference. And even Gore-Tex Pro with 28000 mm hydrostatic head, will leak eventually after continuous exposure to heavy rain and pressure.
om(f)g is that PO-ENG or GER-ENG???
Haha, pol-eng 🙈
Awful jacket. Used in 2 days of heavy rain and it let me down badly. Drawcord shute filled with water. Rain seeped through. Wets through as soon as you mention rain.
Returned for a refund.
Worst I've ever owned.
