Great footage, what’s happened to this fantastic Rugby league club? I went to all these premiership finals in the late 80’s, the power, skill and pace of this Widnes team was a joy to watch. Was also at the swamp to see the team win the world club championship against Canberra. Great memories.
@@zzzpip you’re right there, they had the most amazing quick backs like Offiah, Tait, Currier, and Darren Wright, but also had forwards who were equally quick like Phil McKenzie, Ritchie Ayres, Joe Grima and Mike O’Neil, the brilliant leadership of Kurt Sorensen. This Widnes team was absolutely brilliant, they were the best team for about 5 years, but never got the credit they deserved. It’s a travesty what’s happened since and to see where they are now. Hopefully they can get back into super league soon. Thanx for posting this brilliant memorable footage, it was great watching Widnes team cheer me up, usually following watching my beloved MCFC which at this time was very challenging to say the least.
As a ballboy remember this well, the earlier game featherstone v oldham was unbelievable
I am a Widnes fan whom went and watched both games. Watching the 2nd division final as a neutral, it was absolutely cracking game.

for me the most entertaining team for decades and still nobody can play like this at speed.
