I mean this point almost makes sense if you’re talking about a superhero or a character played by an actor but really the design and iconography of the character is worth keeping him in a few change anything else when it comes to these Hanna-Barbera designs

But to be fair HB characters are not the most personality rich characters in existence.
I actually grew up with these characters in the 80s and continued to watch them all throughout the early 2000s. So its hard to see Top cat characters who each had individual episodes have such a big change. A logical solution would have been to introduce new characters. Like Oggy daddy's daughter from another wife where the original kid got old and moved out. In Top cat's case they could have shown that the original members moved out and TC made some new ones similar to them. Re-imagining characters is ok for some like Jabberjaw but only when you explore a dynamic that wasn't explored before like Booboo. Also, try to understand that this is a piece of history that the writers are using. Remagining of history will always annoy people, but if you change their gender or race, then you will annoy most people including those that made them and watched for decades. Y'know, after decades of "hip" reboots and re-imaginings and aborted backdoor minisodes, I had kinda given up thinking that there might ever be a successful revival of the Hanna-Barbera cast of characters (with the exception of Scooby-Doo, which often manages to pull itself around). Glad to see they finally hit the mark with the whole lot of 'em.

Usually Im the one to get mad at when they changed the gender/race of a character but seeing that there is a HUGE lack of females in the original lineup and creating something new is not something they can do I dont mind at all.
Im all for different interpretations of media and different ways the same story could be told. So im glad the characters are their own thing and not carbon copies of the shows before, in design, gender, and writing.
I was one of those kids that was only allowed to watch boomerang when I was being watched by the babysitter. I can say I only saw looney toons and Tom n jerry on the network, it was really rare for me to see any other show. I will say jelly stone is a show I hope runs longer than most thing now a days, but doesn’t overstay it’s welcome. it was an actual fun experience watching it.
Jabber jaw was really just a water scooby doo, so I'm fine with the jabber change , also as for top cats gang changes...I bearly remember any of the gang besides top cat himself and his cop buddy (who is seemingly missing from jelly stone) so the changes with them don't bother me either. Honestly loving the show so far it has the super chaotic energy of classic hanna barbera.
No joke i had to look up one of the character's history "Loopy De Loop" To see the bigger picture. and now I like her. when i saw the episodes i literally said "this is Too wholesome" and i feel CN is missing out on a lot of potential they just don't give a fuck about. I literally looked up their schedule and its a mess in fact i think i only saw 4-8 shows airing and about 5 of them are reruns while a few are just annoying. I can't wait for the next season of Jellystone as its just something to enjoy, love and respect for past characters in the modern new era that i think Hanna and Barbara will be proud of.
I like what they have done with Top Cat and his gang. It is both quite refreshing to see a new look on them. It dont matter if two character were gender swapped. It has not stopped the characters from being who they are. Plus, that scene where ChooChoo sees the "anime pillow cat"...LOL
6:05: I'm not disagreeing with you on the subject, but don't tell me I don't know Jabberjaw, the character was originally voiced by the lord of voiceover himself, Frank Welker, I made a list: ua-cam.com/video/qAZMt-M5t_c/v-deo.html
Also let's not forget, those Hannah Barbara cartoons where more often than not just complete shit. They where cheap and where by enlarge not funny. And yes that does include Scooby-Doo. This Jelly Stone is so much better than those other shows.
The exact last moment I cared about jabber jaws was that one mascot cross over episode in mystery incorporated, also hell yeah trans augie for the win!
The fact that this show made me actually care about Boo-Boos self esteem and can use “doggie daddy” in a completely G rated subtext is amazing! And I don’t this fox character but she seems pretty rad. I originally thought this was going to be TTG with Hanna Barbera cut outs, but I was pleasantly surprised. And no over abundance of internet slang jokes! Only Gumball can do those justice 😒 But yeah, good stuff. Wish more re-imaginings put as much effort into their comedy as this does
I think the original Yogi Bear was kind of a Ned Flanders and the new one is more of a Homer Simpson. And making the Banana Splits an inept criminal gang was a great idea, although I would love to see them playing music again.
I like this show! it was definitely enjoyable to watch and caught me off guard multiple time with the jokes which made me burst out laughing. Also does anyone know where 1:23 is from? I wanna see the whole thing but can’t find it
Normally not a big fan of gender or character changes for new shows, but yeah I don't see a big reason to be mad over the changes here. I was probably just surprised they changed them.
This show reminds me of the Looney Tunes show, I just like a slice of life shows with good comedy. I wish people would stop overreacting to reboots and give them a chance. There is only a hand full of reboots that are actually bad (Powerpuff Girls), most of them are cool or funny like Rise of the TMNT, Teen Titans Go! and Ducktales
I usually dislike when people genderbend characters but yeah this? This was a fresh take on all that and it's well done, the characters feel great and totally naturally. It's a really great show overall.

I can say I only saw looney toons and Tom n jerry on the network, it was really rare for me to see any other show. I will say jelly stone is a show I hope runs longer than most thing now a days, but doesn’t overstay it’s welcome. it was an actual fun experience watching it.
This is some really insightful and cool commentary
Also 11:05 GRAND DAD
I can't wait for the next season of Jellystone as its just something to enjoy, love and respect for past characters in the modern new era that i think Hanna and Barbara will be proud of.
this series is a love letter to Boomerang, just like how we had CN city back in the day, this is their version of it and i love it
Question for the interview: What was it like working with C H Greenblatt?
Seeing Jabberjaw always brings a smile to my face.
5:37 was a huge call out for me. I was like: "I listen to that one song all the time" and then you immediately said that it didn't count lmao
Only Gumball can do those justice 😒
But yeah, good stuff. Wish more re-imaginings put as much effort into their comedy as this does
Nice video 🔥🔥and i simp for Jabberjaw 😵💫😵💫✨
jabberjaw being a black woman is somehow a change that works.
I think the original Yogi Bear was kind of a Ned Flanders and the new one is more of a Homer Simpson. And making the Banana Splits an inept criminal gang was a great idea, although I would love to see them playing music again.
I love Jabberjaw, Loope, and the Banana Splits in this! X3
im just glad they bring back the bananna splits i really missed that show
My Q: Is there a common thread in how you translate and exaggerate physical comedy in your animations?
OH, THIS is a good one.
I like this show! it was definitely enjoyable to watch and caught me off guard multiple time with the jokes which made me burst out laughing. Also does anyone know where 1:23 is from? I wanna see the whole thing but can’t find it
It was from an advertisement Boomerang did to promote their app set to "BOOM THERE IT IS". It's def on UA-cam.
@@A2Adam Thank you!
Finally, something to fill the void of the looney tunes show.
I am loving this series so far
Normally not a big fan of gender or character changes for new shows, but yeah I don't see a big reason to be mad over the changes here. I was probably just surprised they changed them.
This show reminds me of the Looney Tunes show, I just like a slice of life shows with good comedy. I wish people would stop overreacting to reboots and give them a chance. There is only a hand full of reboots that are actually bad (Powerpuff Girls), most of them are cool or funny like Rise of the TMNT, Teen Titans Go! and Ducktales
@Ultra Sapphire Gamer Yes I did, it not all funny but some parts of it are
@Ultra Sapphire Gamer Nah, people are to busy attacking He-man and they probably don't care about Teen Titans Go! Anymore, so I safe
Teen Titans Go IS funny and you should say it.
I usually dislike when people genderbend characters but yeah this? This was a fresh take on all that and it's well done, the characters feel great and totally naturally. It's a really great show overall.
Great video Kash!!
Loved the show and the review. Good show il’ bean
Glad there’s someone who shares the same head-canon of Jabberjaw being trans as I do!
I remember watching Boomerang on Cartoon Network when I was a kid.
I think it should have just used original characters instead of old HB characters.
the banana splits had to be redeemed one way or another
I know who jabber jaw is I watched that one episode of mystery incorporated
Loopy De Loop is great
Great video as always, Kash!
THANKS CROW! You're cool yourself
This Is BOOMERANG From Cartoon Network
This is basically the high effort version of Nature Cat
You're an underrrated youtuber! Your review is so good that I subscribed!
Gonna have to check it out
Fun video can't wait to watch more of it.
I do miss all those old Boomerang bumpers
Hundreds of characters have been put of the back burners for freaking decades. Bout time they reused em.
The shark lady is funny, I’ll give it a watch sometime
Bruh I’m actually wearing a Jabberjaw shirt while watching this, but in all honesty it’s nice for Jabberjaw to have an original voice.
Augie the new chowder
