This was arguably the darkest spiderman game i have ever played the tone and atmosphere felt so dark it felt right we need more games like this for spiderman

i think the best shot for a dark spiderman story and more serous could be a setting in the noire universe, we could have for example a Kingpin that is the head of a huge alcohol mafia maybe even an apperance of captain america and the redskull with spiderman having to rescue with the help of captain some important character of the story that are locked in extermination camps, (this could be a crossover with xmen and that character that needs to be saved to be magneto), we could have a DR octopus that is forced somehow to work for the redskull on some nazi like woder weapons, all of this while Peter when is not spidy is struggeling in the great depression. to avoid racism problems they could say that in those camps are locked people with special powers that are rejected by society for being different or something like that. the posibilities are endless for a spidy that is not childish

I had the exact same reaction to it (I'm 17 now). But wow...I was blown away by this trailer. Making spiderman so dark and adding the music to make it so depressing. It is definitely my favorite spiderman game (and I really don't like most of them).
Honestly I think this shook my core as a younger boy seeing this dark desolate version of New York combined with Spider-Mans dialogue about his morals and if he can do this while still being a good guy or if he’ll have to show a darker side to justify the means. Gave him so much character before the game even came out and then the morale system in the game further solidified how important ur take on being Spider-Man really was and the choices between good and bad. To this day nothing has hit harder than seeing Spider-Man with his head down looking at maximum venom, it’s enough to send chills down any Spider-Man fans back, please remaster the game!!

Just the ability to switch to two different suits with totally different powersets on the fly with the press of a button was amazing during combat. sure, the physics of webslinging was sorta wonky but damn if this wasn't a good game nonetheless. way better than the ASM games we got recently... Hope Spider-Man PS4 can break the status quo on spidey games and make something amazing we can all remember!

This is by far the best Spidey game, and who hasn't wanted to see what it would be like for spidey in a symbiotic zombie outbreak. it was badass and they hinted at making another, at least with the black spiderman ending ( I can't really remember the good ending) and I wish they'd make another, but get carnage in there! or something! Like the game or not, this was a superbly well-made trailer - Moonlight Sonata, especially remixing it to make it action-y towards the end, was a unique tonal choice, and some of the shots here are legitimately haunting and almost cinematic, despite the graphics. When the game was coming out this trailer got me about a thousand percent more hyped for it.

Forever this greatest spider-man classic game I’ve played. This graphics and everything about it was simple and on perfectly point. It’s a shame the a sequel was declined due to leaks. But if they ever remaster this, it would be a blessing.
This game was just amazing! Ultra-fun gameplay, I found the story interesting, nice colorful graphics (any spider-man game veteran wouldn't care about this), I found it to be even more fun and nostalgic than spider-man 2! We really need a sequel! D:

Although the insomniac version of Spiderman possesses its own unique style and merits, this version of Spiderman consistently demonstrates a more intricate combat system, encompassing both ground and air combat techniques. While the webbing slinging may have exhibited unrealistic aspects, such as connecting to the sky, it nevertheless provided an enjoyable and expeditious experience. Should a remastered version of this game be released, I would readily purchase it.
One of the most iconic trailers ever! I remember being in elementary school when this was announced and launched. In my head this reminded me of a dark spiderman comic with the original story, characters, theme, and atmosphere. I was hooked on this game since then and still am now as it's one of my favorite games of all time. This game walked so that Spiderman PS4 and Spiderman 2 PS5 could swing. If they ever remaster this game I will forever be happy 🕷

Coming from someone who beat this game 200+ times I’m here to say that with each play through I always discovered new mechanics in Web of Shadows that made the game immaculate and replay able. Insomniacs Spider-Man is ok but the game doesn’t really offer anything new and seems to hold your hand the entire time

it's crazy to think that i remember watching and playing this game when i was 5 years old. i'm 18 now and i still feel that WOS was a very underrated spider-man game. it's not a perfect game, but it deserves way more recognition that it received. definitely up there with the likes of marvel's spider-man, ultimate spider-man, and spider-man 2.
This game, solidifies the MEANING of Spider-Man, and his mission in protecting New York. The Fact that this game really, and I mean REALLY dwelled deep into the psyche and mood of a Darker Spider-Man Storyline / Spider-Man himself is the pinnacle of what makes this game so ancient and memorable. The mood swings of Spidey from Red suit to Black Suit is jaw Dropping, you really could feel the anger and anguish Spider-Man is feeling as he descends into darkness while using the black suit. The combat system is mind-blowing, the scenes and dialogue are amazing, and the although atmosphere of the Game is so dark and eye widening that it felt like it was ripped straight out of a Comic-Book. I remember writing a story that matches this game so well it came across as odd to me. I was inspired by the PlayStation Spiderman game and wrote a story about symbiotes actually invading the city and taking over. I had drawings for the concept and everything. I got so frustrated one day I just threw it away. When I saw this I was in shock. Years later a Spiderman game was released telling and very identical emotional, grim story so similar to mine I found it hard to believe it was a coincidence. But then again who finds a story for Spiderman in the garbage. My drawings for the symbiotes were exactly the same as this game and the story was the same up until you confront Wolverine. I was so frustrated that somehow someone got hold of my concept and made it into a game that I never even played past that point. I guess I should be happy that my idea was good enough for a game and that it was actually put into production. But the chances of it actually coming from my tossed story in the garbage are so slim. Could be a coincidence (most likely) or I could have written a successful concept for a Spiderman game that Activision finished. How do you explain the same base story with the symbiotes drawn the same way as well as the story being close to perfectly matching mine up the the point your with Wolverine?
Here a week before Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 releases on PS5. Before it does I want to say Web of Shadows has always been my favorite Spider-Man game. I’d buy a remaster on day one if it happened! I can go on how amazing this game and characters are! A masterpiece!

Still remember it to this day. 2008 was a good year, and an amazing game, with an amazing trailer; especially the excitement seeing wolverine venom. Nowadays things look more hyper realistic; but back then, we were used to graphics looking like this and not looking like real life. And it still looked good. This was my first Xbox 360 game, and is still my favorite Spider-Man game. This trailer actually touches my heart with how much atmosphere it and the game have. I know a sequel was planned, and it ended up getting canceled, which truly breaks my heart...Activision, port this to Next-Gen, or give us a proper sequel. Lee Lanzini Well, being perfect with the game, it would also contain the perfect story if Activison made a sequel of "Spider-Man: Web of Shadows", and it featured both Jet the Hawk from the Sonic the Hedgehog series as its main playable protagonist and Carnage from the Spider-Man series as its main antagonist, Lee Lanzini.
Activision actually did begin to make Web of Shadows 2 back in '09 I believe. There was concept art, and Carnage was set to be the main villain this time. However, for reasons I don't know, it's been scrapped, and the rights to the production of future Spider-Man games went to Beenox while Activision still publishes the games. I really want them to continue the project, since it seems that everyone loves Web of Shadows, and because of the backlash from TASM2, but I doubt it will happen. It would be awesome, though.
If Marvel really wants us to believe that we should trust their judgment on them now owning the Spiderman rights once more, then they should do the following: Make a solo Spiderman movie of this happening, not an origin story again. I can even see the intro in my head as I'm typing this. Spidey's just out and about, doing his every day thing as usual, what we expect him to be doing on a daily basis, before a meteor crash occurs in Times Square and incredibly quickly, a strange plague begins effecting people. at first, some people believe it to be the work of some villain that the Avengers ticked off at some point, before Venom arrived. In short: make this a film that both Introduces Spider Man and Venom within the same movie, thereby rectifying the atrocity of Spiderman 3's Venom, while also showing just how much potential Spidey has, as nearly all members of the Avengers have been infected after not listening to Nick Fury and going into New York to stop this outbreak, regardless of whether or not their immune to the sickness.

Playing Insomniac Spider-Man 2 and the symbiote combat in Web of Shadows still superior.
All combat is far superior in WOS compared to Spider-Man 2. It's way too simplified compared to this

While the webbing slinging may have exhibited unrealistic aspects, such as connecting to the sky, it nevertheless provided an enjoyable and expeditious experience. Should a remastered version of this game be released, I would readily purchase it.

One of the most iconic trailers ever! I remember being in elementary school when this was announced and launched. In my head this reminded me of a dark spiderman comic with the original story, characters, theme, and atmosphere. I was hooked on this game since then and still am now as it's one of my favorite games of all time. This game walked so that Spiderman PS4 and Spiderman 2 PS5 could swing. If they ever remaster this game I will forever be happy 🕷

I have a lot of respect for Insomniac and Spider-Man PS4, but this still remains my favourite Spidey game. The Web-Swinging too is exactly how I've always imagined Spidey to be. Realistic or not, I don't care.

Coming from someone who beat this game 200+ times I’m here to say that with each play through I always discovered new mechanics in Web of Shadows that made the game immaculate and replay able. Insomniacs Spider-Man is ok but the game doesn’t really offer anything new and seems to hold your hand the entire time

it's crazy to think that i remember watching and playing this game when i was 5 years old. i'm 18 now and i still feel that WOS was a very underrated spider-man game. it's not a perfect game, but it deserves way more recognition that it received. definitely up there with the likes of marvel's spider-man, ultimate spider-man, and spider-man 2.
This game, solidifies the MEANING of Spider-Man, and his mission in protecting New York.
The Fact that this game really, and I mean REALLY dwelled deep into the psyche and mood of a Darker Spider-Man Storyline / Spider-Man himself is the pinnacle of what makes this game so ancient and memorable.
The mood swings of Spidey from Red suit to Black Suit is jaw Dropping, you really could feel the anger and anguish Spider-Man is feeling as he descends into darkness while using the black suit.
The combat system is mind-blowing, the scenes and dialogue are amazing, and the although atmosphere of the Game is so dark and eye widening that it felt like it was ripped straight out of a Comic-Book.
This will always be my #1 Videogame, Spider-Man game, and Spider-Man Story.

I still come back here. One of the greatest spider-man games. Point Blank. This trailer had me sold from the jump.
I remember writing a story that matches this game so well it came across as odd to me. I was inspired by the PlayStation Spiderman game and wrote a story about symbiotes actually invading the city and taking over. I had drawings for the concept and everything. I got so frustrated one day I just threw it away. When I saw this I was in shock. Years later a Spiderman game was released telling and very identical emotional, grim story so similar to mine I found it hard to believe it was a coincidence. But then again who finds a story for Spiderman in the garbage. My drawings for the symbiotes were exactly the same as this game and the story was the same up until you confront Wolverine. I was so frustrated that somehow someone got hold of my concept and made it into a game that I never even played past that point. I guess I should be happy that my idea was good enough for a game and that it was actually put into production. But the chances of it actually coming from my tossed story in the garbage are so slim. Could be a coincidence (most likely) or I could have written a successful concept for a Spiderman game that Activision finished. How do you explain the same base story with the symbiotes drawn the same way as well as the story being close to perfectly matching mine up the the point your with Wolverine?

Remember being 8 years old, my older brother and I watching this trailer for the first time. Still remember it to this day. 2008 was a good year, and an amazing game, with an amazing trailer; especially the excitement seeing wolverine venom.
Edit: and was kind of weird how back then when games released, this is what graphics looked like. Nowadays things look more hyper realistic; but back then, we were used to graphics looking like this and not looking like real life. And it still looked good. Though back then, this did look really sharp and realistic.
This was my first Xbox 360 game, and is still my favorite Spider-Man game. This trailer actually touches my heart with how much atmosphere it and the game have. I know a sequel was planned, and it ended up getting canceled, which truly breaks my heart...Activision, port this to Next-Gen, or give us a proper sequel. After getting that average Amazing Spider-Man 2 tie-in game, everyone will be eating this up. If you read this, think of us, the Spidey-fans, and we'll love you for it. Please.

Lee Lanzini Well, being perfect with the game, it would also contain the perfect story if Activison made a sequel of "Spider-Man: Web of Shadows", and it featured both Jet the Hawk from the Sonic the Hedgehog series as its main playable protagonist and Carnage from the Spider-Man series as its main antagonist, Lee Lanzini.

Activision actually did begin to make Web of Shadows 2 back in '09 I believe. There was concept art, and Carnage was set to be the main villain this time. However, for reasons I don't know, it's been scrapped, and the rights to the production of future Spider-Man games went to Beenox while Activision still publishes the games. I really want them to continue the project, since it seems that everyone loves Web of Shadows, and because of the backlash from TASM2, but I doubt it will happen. It would be awesome, though.

If Marvel really wants us to believe that we should trust their judgment on them now owning the Spiderman rights once more, then they should do the following:
Make a solo Spiderman movie of this happening, not an origin story again. I can even see the intro in my head as I'm typing this. Spidey's just out and about, doing his every day thing as usual, what we expect him to be doing on a daily basis, before a meteor crash occurs in Times Square and incredibly quickly, a strange plague begins effecting people. at first, some people believe it to be the work of some villain that the Avengers ticked off at some point, before Venom arrived.
In short: make this a film that both Introduces Spider Man and Venom within the same movie, thereby rectifying the atrocity of Spiderman 3's Venom, while also showing just how much potential Spidey has, as nearly all members of the Avengers have been infected after not listening to Nick Fury and going into New York to stop this outbreak, regardless of whether or not their immune to the sickness.
