A giant among the Redeemed. Packer's book 'Knowing God' is a masterpiece and if it were up to me, every Christians would read it. Many thanks for posting this. :)
"and if it were up to me, every Christians would read it." There is a famine in the land; not of eating or drinking, but of hearing the Word of God (cf. Amos 8:11). Genuine believers need to prioritize and get a solid foundation on God's word first. I could ask any so-called Christian please give me a line from Nahum (for example), a verse, or even what is it about; and I would get a blank stare. This is the state of the American Christian today.
That would mean then that there are those predestined for hell would it not? What's the point of free will and the offer of salvation if predestination is involved?
Of course it means some are predestined for hell and others to glory. God is the first cause of all things, even those who were fashioned unto damnation by the potter.

quick answer, yes! we choose to repent and believe or not. so simple
J I Packer was a 'commoner' who epitomized the every-man's theologian. His serenity really seemed to emanate how one might view Christ.
I believe our destiny determines the choices we make, not the other way around.

No marking time. N O marking time.
He said: we are not just standing still and marking time.
Dr. Packer and his Anglican views are really a drag. 0:01

Perhaps as you say this to your brother, it is you that requires such mercy.
Those who are "the elect" have chosen to be such in response to hearing the gospel
yes, Packer is an apostate as he signed the ECT agreement and joined the harlot
@@davidw969 What is the ECT agreement? Dr. Packer is a calvinist.
