The Hesitation Shot or Hesi: Game Break Episode 7

In this Game Break we break down the hesitation shot in water polo. This shot attempts to freeze the goalie by pausing in the middle of the shot and finishing the shot by continuing forward. Students who want to learn this shot should analyze this clip and work on being able to shoot at any point in your pump fake motion. Students will also need a very strong wrist.

Thanks for another great video that demonstrates the idea perfectly. Out of curiosity, would this be an effective technique when shooting from the 4-5 side as a right hander?

Thank you, and yes I think this would be effective from the 4-5 side. Obviously you have a poor shooting angle from that side but if you’re able to freeze the goalie I think that would be helpful anywhere.
