I had a ramune bottle and when he was talking about the bumps in the glass that kept the marble at the bottom I wanted to test it myself, so not thinking, with no covered top, I tilted the half-full glass to see if it was true, and ended up getting my legs soaked in melon ramune.

The solutions reviewed in this video include parts of the solution that I discovered, which is WAY EASIER than what is shown here. The author was on the right track with the butane lighter, but not exactly. As you may surmise, he rejected that solution because the flame will BURN the plastic, releasing noxious fumes. As an alternative, I tried heating the plastic with my heat gun on "low" setting. I heated while rotating the bottle to get the cap evenly hot, until it turned glossy (started to melt). Then with the screwdriver, the cap just slid off effortlessly! No danger of the screwdriver slipping and stabbing me in the hand, no danger of cracking or chipping the glass with excessive force from the screwdriver. Very very easy.

Great idea, and excellent comment! I tried as best I could to limit my tools to items you may find in most homes. A heat gun is an Awesome tool, but not everyone has one. That said you may have the absolute best solution in this comment.

I assume it’s Ramune, but mine doesn’t have plastic, the glass itself is shaped smaller which prevents removing the marble. Maybe an older design? Has a greenish tint to the glass. Anyway I think it’s cooler with the marble in there!

A decade ago to get the marble and save the bottle, I used a lighter to melt the plastic and my pocket knife to scrape the plastic away. I practiced safe knife handling and kept the blade away from my hand...except for the ONE TIME that I accidentally had it towards me, and my blade slipped, slicing right into my left hand's index knuckle, exactly where the radial artery runs through. It was a partially-serrated knife, so it wasn't exactly a clean cut, though my blade was still sharp. I bleed a good bit, took a while to heal with just a bandage application, and I've got a nasty scar...BUT I GOT THE MARBLE OUT!

I purchased this one day, threw it into the bed of my truck, and a couple of days later my son climbs in to truck bed, picks up the bottle, shakes it, and asks..."is this a marble? Can I have it?" I said, "Not right now, I have to figure out how to do it." Long story short, the next day, today, I get this video suggested in my youtube feed. 😮 So I'm theorizing that my phone heard the marble clinging about in the bottle and it registered in the algorithm. thus, this video was suggested. 😬

So uh funny thing. I found this out recently but the marble rlly isn’t all that difficult to get. The blue lid part on the top is actually reverse threaded (aka you just need to twist it the opposite way then usual so instead of lefty loosey, you need to unscrew it going right) it’s rlly that easy and I find it kinda amusing that everyone has been stumped by this for so long. Everyone’s first instinct after they finish the bottle is to try as hard as they can do unscrew it but are doing it the wrong way, subsequently making it tighter and harder to get off lol. No glue and it’s not super tight, We were just all played :\

That's true, but only in some parts of the world and depending on the manufacturer :)

I just put it in a plastic bag, got an old rock hammer (it has a flat bit on the back end instead of a claw) that belonged to my maternal grandpa and lined it up with the narrow part of the bottle. Two good whacks to keep it from going absolutely everywhere even with the bag and I had the marble. Apparently back in the day when the UK used to use Codd-neck bottles more often, the marble inside would be collected by the kids to play marble games and larger marbles used in the games would be called "Bottle Washers" because of the use of marbles in the Codd-neck bottle.

That is awesome! Depending on where you live in the world they actually make the bottles slightly differently. And so in some places you can twist it clockwise or counterclockwise and it'll come off, but in a lot of portions of the u.s. you cannot remove it normally and they do that to prevent the choking hazard. In case a kid were to open up the container and then swallow the marble. May I ask what region of the world you're from? And if in the US which coaster closest to?

With 10 minutes of doing this at 5 am with conscious effort not to cut towards me I made a line up the side, and then eased the blade in slowly pulling it back along the cracks until it breaks away from itself in the inside part of the bottle then I used the lip as leverage to peel back the rest of the inside metal then it all just came right off and I have the marble and no injuries!!
