I have been binge watching your videos. Thank you so much for putting in all the hard work you have in making these. You have no idea what a blessing this has been.
Thank you so much for this video! You make it all sound so simple! I love the way you share your tips to make affordable hat blocks. You have inspired me to have a go! Thank you 😘
That cool little brush is a "nap raiser" or lifter...and you can still get them! It's a tool used for various fiber arts to raise the fibers for felting.
Lovely!!! Do you have a video that talks about stiffening felts? I’m struggling because I can see a sired sheen after I used shellac stiffener. Maybe I need to work it more into the wool? Or maybe the shellac wasn’t totally dry before blocking the shape? I’m not sure.
I do have various videos that talk about stiffeners. Shellec needs to be almost scrubbed into felt, and you can use a brush to work at the sheen to reduce it. I always use pva on felt ua-cam.com/video/2BEaiv25mi0/v-deo.html
3:55 That is not a slip knot. That is an overhand loop knot. The thing with slip knot is that it slips, it becomes tighter when you pull it, and helps keep the tension, while it being quite easy to loosen up when one needs to remove the hat from the block. (Also, the millinery knot isn't really a slip knot either, but that's neither here or there. :-D)
How do u spell the inside hat band ,it is petershim? That's what it sounds like to me on video....I like that name...lol mikelle newyork strong mom😷👋🕵️♀️🧵

Hello,
thanks for sharing you knowledge with you. Do you work with Swiss straw braid ?
Regards from Germany
Hi, no I don't, I did try but having only domestic sewing machines, it is not easy to form the crown
Hello, what is the fabric you used?
Wool felt
Do you have a preferred sewing needle type?
No I use a lot of upholstery types with big eyes, and a variety of others depending on what I am sewing. So I keep crewel, leather, etc
also on the machine I only use schmetz
Wow clever hey!
Would love to make one.thanks for sharing
