- It's time to continue with the Doll 512 Overtype Clone!
Today, there's alot of Turning, Soldering and Sheet metaling involved,
as we make the Governor, Firebox and all the little stuff attached to it.
Enjoy!
“Not too shabby” 😮 Bloody marvellous says I ! 👏👏👍😀
Always love to watch you work. The finished engine will be very lovley. The boiler support / fire box and stack adds real size to the project. 31-45B
What a beautiful steam engine. I was having anxieties about the Model A. Glad to hear that you'll be working on it. Spring.
Is finally here and I'll be driving mine soon.
Thank Goodness there are TWO of you !!
I feel the need to call out (in a positive way) some of the amazing stuff shown in this video:
* The hand fed "cut the part out of solid" shaping (1:17)
* excellent (learnt from a meister?) hand filing skills (3:01)
* the x/y slide dial twiddling to make spheres (4:47)
* the super sharp large drill bit making curly chips on the drill press (9:57)
* the sheer boldness (and mighty Myford) of the GIANT hole saw (plus milling slide) (10:57)
Well done, and WOW!
Thanks alot.
The filing and radius turning just involves alot of practice - we had plenty of it during apprenticeship,
and by the time I bought the shaper, I had done so much sawing and filing in the home shop,
that it's quicker for me in many cases to just file things down before getting it set up in the machine.
The drill is actually a CNC starter drill which is not meant for drilling through-holes at all. It constantly gets stuck and takes alot of force, BUT
it is the only straight shank 14mm drill I have, so it had to be done.
The holesaw is 104mm, and is just about the largest I can get a grip on. Lowest spindle speed (with reduction), and careful infeed makes for a much easier and nicer result than a ThisOldTony judo chop ;)
Nice workmanship will be keeping an eye out for the model a updates
I just love watching you turn raw stock into precision machined parts. I am in awe (and more than a little jealous) of your skills.
Nice recovery using the old bearing race to replace your "OOOPS!" A minor pothole on the road to progress!
8:46 I KNEW it! It was only a matter of time before you machined a duplicate of yourself. No wonder you get so much work done!😂
9:17 "Catywampus" Ah, yes. You are clearly well versed in technical jargon!
Loving the music by the way. Count Basie, Artie Shaw, Dooley Wilson are the ones I've been able to recognize. You must have a fantastic record collection.
The engine is looking so fine. All of your hard work is clearly paying off. Can't wait to see the next installment.
Thank you. I only have a very modest record collection, most of the songs I only posess digitally.
Genial!,muy bueno como siempre! increibles tus trabajos y tu taller! Saludos desde Argentina
Good thing you didn't had any angle iron in the beginning of the video. It allowed you to play a bit more with the shaper :)
Very nice result. Looking really good.
As for the car... well, one day maybe :)
In the long run, it probably made for the nicer result, too. No mill scale, no soldering joint, etc etc..
That really starts too look like a nice complete machine now!
For a next project you might consider having a look at machines Wilhelm Bischoff made in Dresden back in the day…
btw. watching your videos made my decision of buying a small lathe a little easier
picked up a slightly neglected MD65 "Hobbymat" today for just 100€ including some accessories
now I need to get the corner of my tiny garage set up for it properly and then start learning to use it…
Excellent
immer nice work...😉👍👍👍
Danke :)
The Caddy Wampus never made it into production at GM.
Excellent work as always. How is the Model A doing? Are you going to have a video with the Ford?
Hi, I've addressed the topic towards the end of the video.
So, I guess you will be rebuilding your transmission?
@@romjone4801 Might be ;)
The difference between YOU and ME is that I don't use Drawings !! 🤣🤣
Hats off to You, I don't have that much imagination.
@@AstraWerke And I don't have your meticulous patience :)
Es gibt linke, und rechte Blech-scheeren. Du solltest dir mal beides zulegen 😂😂
Kostet aber Geld ;P
Cattywumpus - you been watching yer' self a little Blondihacks? The Mighty Quinn?
Does she say that alot? xD
you are the best
Thanks!
