Excellent question! As long as your ornaments are plastic they should not fade. If the ornaments have any thread, yarn or dyed material my fade or bleed and change to color of the water. Hope this helps1

Why not just use water? I also add live greens and cranberries. The cranberries float to underneath
Because if you use water they will just float to the top lol
That's why I do it: the cranberries float to the top and form a base around the candle. Very pretty and festive.

Excellent question! the water beads allow the illusion of the floating ornaments. Without the beads they will not stay in place.
