Awesome Video..Great. Been working on small engines for 40 years and this is one of the best videos. ..about the belt. I've seen the belt come off the pulley.. Just a simple fix.. New Belt time
Thank you so much !! I bought a used but very good condition hhr216 and never owned one before . So was worried why it was abit of resistance pulling back thought a Something was wrong
After 10 yrs, needed new rear tyres, looked at my (HRX217HYA) gear and there is NO DOT visible on either side. Once i get smaller snap ring pliers i'll see what's up.
Excellent information! Just what I was looking for when I disassembled my mower and didn’t remember the sequence the gears and washers went back on. Very detailed and easy to follow reassembly instructions. Thank You!
Great video. Do you have video that goes beyond where this video stops. I want to replace the washer and clips between the transmission and height adjuster. I dis-assembled to the point of removing the height adjuster and 22mm clip between adjuster and transmission, but cannot remove the axle rod. The collar on the left side appears to be fixed to the axle rod so I can only slide the axle rod a certain distance.
Then it's not OEM bud, "Install with punch mark facing Left- (inside) Right- (outside)" Thats straight from the Shop Repair Manual guy... Thanks for playing.
@@dadsworkshopbykipplabrie7982 I got three, but I think the head tips are too big. That’s why I’m asking. Is there smaller ones or are they all standard one size?
Can you take all the gears off if the trannie is shot? I did all the regreasing and cleaning gears. Mower rolled backwards. Took it out for test run and everything seemed fine for minutes. Then the trannie froze. Won't roll backwards now or self propel. Yes belt is fine
Ive a 2019 hrx217 k6vla versamow that is kinda dragging the left rear wheel and when it does roll its making a clacking noise as it goes around. The drive still works fine. It seems ti only be like that when im pushing it without engaging the transmission. At first i thought it was a wheel bearing,so i replaced the left wheel where im hearing the noise. Noise didnt go away obviously. At a glance the gear looks ok,tire sits nice and straight, shaft seems tight. Im really stuck on this one, please help if youve any ideas.
Also I would confirm where the “clacking” noise is coming from and or isolate the noise. Is it coming from the wheel and the transmission gearbox. The gear oil inside the transmission is just 10W30 motor oil so I would just peak under the deck and make sure the gearbox isn’t saturated in oil, I would all so apply some marine grade axle grease to each wheel gear spur and see if the noise improves.
@@dadsworkshopbykipplabrie7982 I'll give it a look. I've gotta buy me some new snap ring pliers before I can. Broke one side of the one I need. I just sharpened the blades a week ago. I'll start with the key and spring and the grease you mentioned. I've cut alot of wet overgrown grass and I mow alot of hillsides too. Hopefully its something simple, hate to have to buy another transmission. I'll let ya know if I find anything certain
@@dadsworkshopbykipplabrie7982completely disassembled the wheel and gear setup. Gave everything a thorough cleaning and greased the gears and key way assembly. The noise is completely gone and it pushes so much easier now. Cant thank you enough
Great camera work & description. Got mine apart and couldn’t remember the sequence to reinstall the parts. Life saver - thanks - now I won’t have to explain to my wife why we need a new mower.

Thank you for the video! This has been a big help with my repair. I did have a question. If the bushings in the height adjuster do need to be replaced, what are best practices when installing the new bushings? Do they require any lubricant at all? I wasn’t sure since they are plastic. Also do I just use a hammer to tap it down into the wheel assembly hole?
Should be the same concept, if I can remember correctly L,R should be stamped on each side of the gear spur just make sure both letters are facing the same direction on both axle bolts. Thanks for watching SWARLCPL.
I know there will be a really good answer to this question, 'why was there no lubricant in the gear/s on dis-assembly and none on re-assembly'?

Why u r talking about dots, arrows - if originals do not have those?

So this might be a silly question but what size snap pliers were you using as I just bought a pair and I think they’re too big
They should of came with different size inserts inside a tiny plastic bag

Yes my bad, here’s the part# Channellock - 6.5 Retaining Ring Plier (926)

Great video thanks for posting. My gears wear out every few months, do you think this is a design fault with this model.
dont think he said why the 1 dot on the leftwent in and the 1 on the right was facing out?
Thanks for this, helped me solve my one wheel not driving, not a Honda but principle the same . Thanks

Just curious, Do you know how much oil (I have 10w-30) goes in the transmission? I don't want to put too much or not enough?
