@@jabangun sorry to correct you mate but I'm a fisho from Perth and I've caught plenty of Mully's best place to grab em is the side of the lip. They don't thrash around as they are usually too buggered for anything and just lie there. I do take the hooks out first though to save anything stupid happening. If your not aware of this technique you can jump on UA-cam and lookup kob fishing in South Africa. There are plenty of pros and avid anglers that utilise this technique. In saying this I wouldn't do it with a fish like a pinky though, they'd make mince meat out of a finger in the wrong spot and they don't have the type of soft side lip like a mulloway.
