The roof is probably too low for the villagers to breed. If the baby can't jump on the bed, it won't spawn. Not sure if the game checks where the parents are standing in addition to the bed. Also, you have bone blocks. Your hunger crisis could have been solved the day you made your nether portal. You probably figured that out when you went white dye hunting.
