    Great to see you guys stop and help out a fellow traveler in need, that's the Aussie spirit. My parents went on a trip to the rock and had a bit of a mischief of the way and fellow travelers heading in the opposite direction turned around and asked if they were ok. Look out for each other so everyone can have a great time ☺

    Good on you for stopping to help that guy. We did Laverton to Uluru, Kings to palm valley then onto Alice in 86 in our Subaru DL1800 Wgn towing a Road & Trak camper. Your trip has bought back huge memories, I climbed the rock then.

      Some people just wouldn’t feel safe stopping for a stranger in the middle of no where.
      I’d also say it’s a self fulfilling prophecy carry on 1 spare, no sat nav in a clunker like that.

    • @jimmybe64
      @jimmybe64 9 місяців тому

      @@matgill6963 yes that is what I was thinking. Bad people break their vehicles. You stop to help and they do what they want to take your vehicle. It happens all the time so people are wary of strangers in remote places now

    • @SarahandKeelanTravels
      @SarahandKeelanTravels  9 місяців тому +3

      What about you mat? Would you want someone to stop and help you?
      if you feel safe being out remote like that you should feel safe enough to stop and help someone.. this is the issue..

    • @matgill6963
      @matgill6963 9 місяців тому

      You are kind of missing the point cock.
      Just because you feel something doesnt mean everyone else does. Showing your naivety and age I reckon.
      Obviously in an ideal world people wouldn't have these concerns because people wouldn't be criminals, rapists and murderers.
      Also in an ideal world someone travelling these roads would have more than 1 spare tire and a sat-phone.
      for the record I would stop. But can also understand why others might not.

    Longest trucks over here (Switzerland) are 18.75m, we saw a sign in WA allowing trucks up to 53.5 metres which was insane for us. Our roads aren't made for this. We loved seeing road trains 😊

    We were doing the road from Hells Gate to Boorooloola and came across a family of German tourists in a Nissan Xtrail with a puncture we stopped helped them change their tyre to the Space Saver and we lowered all their other tyres and told them to take it very careful so they could get to Domagee and hopefully get a new tyre or repair…

    As always - awesome video. Just came back from the Centre. Didn't see a single soul on the Birdsville Track over 2 days... other than the nice couple running a hotel midway ("what are you doing here - are you nuts"). Only a handful of people on the Oodnadatta Track and the Pink Roadhouse was shut for accom (but Simon was kind enough to open it up). To not stop is horrible... but you can't expect to see many folks in 50 degree heat at this time of year so pack a lunch and lots of water/beer. The upside to the heat is the flies have mostly given up or died and the solitude at this time of year makes the trip even more special. Corrugations seem to have a sweet spot where at the right speed you float over them. Yulara price gouging is what happens when the government runs EVERYTHING and there's no competition.

I was driving up to it pumped and all of a sudden I looked and saw her tearing up next to me. So I had to laugh at that. FYI, we were also the couple that said G'day to you half way around the rock when (and I hate to say this) you guys just come out of the toilets and were getting back on your bikes lol. Uluru is awesome. Back in the early 90's, before I had any idea or consideration for the cultural heritage of it, I did the climb to the top. I took a photo of the road below, when I was close to the top. Cars looked like ants.

      As much as I can chuckle at this it’s statistically unheard of for things to go wrong stopping and saying “are you alright” lay off the horror movies mate!! Go watch step brothers instead hahah

    Love your channel my Grandfather was Born in Adelaide in December 1900. His family moved to the US a few years latter. I have a travel trailer with Cruisemaster ATX suspension and 33 inch tires. I would be interested in knowing what pressure you run your tires. Oh the trailer weighs about 7,000 lbs. I hope to convince my wife for us to cruise the back country for 90 days some time in the future.

      @@SarahandKeelanTravels that is really awful, especially in the location! We always stop & check & always will. What a terrible feeling to watch cars drive by when you need a hand; a little kindness goes a long way. Thanks for spreading the word, people seem to need the reminders of how to be decent humans.

    I didn't quite catch that, did you say it was "pretty corrugated"? btw drove an old HR Holden down that road to Kings in the late 1970s loaded with 4 dudes and heaps of stuff and the only break down was one puncture

    WoW the grandeur of Uluru - truely spiritual alright! But how come its there? What is it? - besides a rock. There has to be more to it.
    Thanks for taking me there guys.
    Might be a bit of fun to do a meet n greet in my town - Melbs 🤞
    Can't wait to see the rig too❤
