Gabriel malgahaes was the key man at our defense for instance celebration after he block a shot and against city he was the defender that dealt with halaan most of the time, the goal against Liverpool at Anfield

Gabriel doesn’t get the flowers he deserves, he’s been more consistent over the whole season than any other defender in my opinion.
In the business end of the season Saliba was better. Gabriel made critical errors which could have costed us the league

Interesting but players have cycles of form and a player who has had a poor season can have wonderful one next year. So the main task must be to build a squad with depth and work on the basis that the excellent players can be encouraged to step up and if they have a drop in form, the talent behind them have the ability to step up. So we should recognize players like Jesus and Martinelli who, without injury, could end up being our best players next season and not just ditch them for a bad season when the ability is there.

Raya is crucial to the XG being so low. He calms the backline and the build up starts from him. If Ramsdale is in goal, he face more shots for a reason compared to Raya.

how does a 22 yr old put up 34g/a with 8g/a in his first ucl campaign not get POTY shout. he has been one of our most consistent players bar Saliba and Rice this season. he was triple teamed every match and still produced. he delivered the most in the big games. Saka and Nketiah were carrying our attack beginning of the season. Nketiah won us the pen against palace away from home. Scored against fulham to put us up 2-1. Saka scored or assisted in our first 8 pl games this season. in our January to March run he was unplayable too

Saka so under appreciated by this fanbase. The most available, the most prolific in terms of goals and assists. Fans Always more excited by the new shiny toy. Saka Odegard are our two best and most important players. Others like rice and Gabriel saliba are close that’s it.
Zinchenko only worked when Xhaka was able to cover LB whilst he was inverted, quality player but he’s similar to Trent - it’s risk vs reward with his defending.
Saka and Gabriel have been the most consistent from the first beep of the season. These guys had won games singlehanded when there seemed to be no outlay of results. Others are getting POTS shouts from a short-term thinking pov.
Saka has had a number of poor games this season. I don't know how you can say he was consistent. He went missing in a lot of games.

Saka is average, looks good compared to other average attacking players we have. He cannot do anything by himself. Goals only from penalties and lucky rebounds. Slow and predictable movements combined with desperate shooting from outside the box, 50% are blocked and 50% flies over the crossbar

We need to accept that David raya may make the odd mistake but so do all keepers now even Allison and ederson but the positives he brings outweigh the negatives by far. Ramsdale didn’t win the golden glove with the exact same defence
It wasn't the exact same defence though. We lost Saliba for the last 10 games of last season and Gabriel has been much better this season than last. Context matters.
People forgot, Saka was not marked by three players last year. The boy was marked by 2 or 3 players at every time he receives the ball. As good as foden was, no game plan to mark him out of games like Saka.
Tomiyasu’s ranking is only because of his injury. He was solid throughout when he played!
If you, as a CB pair, can keep the World's best striker.... who plays in the World's best team..... so quiet that nobody knew he was even on the pitch, you know you've done extremely well.
Our core defenders, in Ben White, William Saliba and Gabriel M have been absolutely outstanding this season, its such a shame that a game changing player in Jurrien Timber wasn't able to lock in that left back position that he was obviously going to occupy.
That back 4 of White, Saliba, Gabby M and Timber will be the best in the league next season...... I'll bet my house on it.

His goals per 90 are high because he doesn't start games. So he has fewer minutes/fewer 90s than others. Most of the time when he starts he's not good but sometimes he will pop up with the odd goal. He's the perfect 12th man for the team and I'd argue the best in the league. Maybe even better than Alvarez.
That's why he's in the same tier with Saka who scored more goals but would often not offer much in terms of creativity in games.

I have to say Gabriel has been the best player in our defence this season. Better then Saliba and White (this season) and for me, comfortably in contention for player of the year. Most Arsenal fans ive spoken to have said similar. Id go as far to say POTS is out of Rice, Gabriel or Odegaard.
Regarding Gabriel. 1st half of the season Saliba was actually shaky. Gabriel was the one who coached him through. It flipped in the 2nd half. Gabriel is definitely contender.
I normally really respect James opinion but him saying re Raya 'some would say he's been dissapointing' is madness - 1st Season, playing with new teamates, learning a new system, all the preasure from fans and media (re Ramsdale) and he absolutely smashes the Golden Glove, after not playing 15% of the season is ABSOLUTE MADNESS!!! He SHOULD be in contention for Player of the Season - the only reason he's not mentioned by pundits etc... is because EVERYONE piled on in the 1st few months and were questioning Arteta and by association Raya - saying what a mistake it was, how we didnt need to change, seeds of doubt in dresssing room, Raya not better than Ramsdale etc..... ALL these people got shown up, but NO-ONE wants to fess up and admit they were WAY wrong.

Arteta brings Raya in and his 1st Season tranforms the defence by playing out from back as an extra with ball at his feet and sweeper keeper, making us the lowest number of goals conceded in the Prem and SMASHES the Golden Gloves.... He'd DEFO get Player of the Year and be lauded.... its ONLY on the basis of Ramsdale love that all this BS comes out.

With the tiers edited at the end, i think this list is pretty perfect.
White, Gabriel, Saliba and Rice have been the part of the best defensive team in the league. We have kept teams from clear goal scoring opportunities let alone goals scored. All 4 deserve to be candidates for POS. Then Odegaard had been the driving force going forward, knitting the team together, working tirelessly and showing real class throughout. All 5 of them have been on a different level this year and even if some weren't 100% at the beginning of the year whether that's through injury or tactical and personnel changes, they have been exceptional when it mattered in the run in where we dropped only 4 points in 2024. An argument could be made for Saka as well with the numbers he has delivered once again.
I suspect Rice will win it for the official Arsenal one with Odegaard 2nd and then I think Saliba will snatch 3rd place. But we have an exceptional foundation going forward with the defensive unit and I don't see as many changes happening next season which should bode well for the whole campaign next year. Exciting to see what we do next year. COYG.

Benny Blanco is so criminally underrated within our fanbase, let alone outside of it. Best RB in the league this year. Rest of this list is pretty spot on though!

Saliba 100% player of the year. Honestly feel like he’s the main reason Raya got golden glove and that’s a huge compliment seeing how golden Gabriel has been. Fully sticking to the fact I feel Saliba has been the one this year. Still incredibly young but has such a mature head on him.

I actually agree with Turkish on the Rice 6 or 8 debate here, if we bring in a player like Bruno G..... who is a genuine box to box number 8.... Rice would be absolutely phenomenal in his natural surroundings of a number 6 role.
An Odegaard/Bruno G (or similar player) midfield anchored by Rice at number 6 would be an extremely formidable unit and definitely in the question of best midfield in the league.

I am not saying this is what I think. But for David Raya, would he have done as well at Brentford, or could you have any decent Keeper in with Gabriel and Saliba in front of you, and do well? What I like about him is how cool and calm he is. He is a keep for sure, I just wonder if he has been overrated with arguably the best center back pairing in the world in front of him.
If you’re not making the squad or not pushing for a place in the team that’s disappointing. It’s on you to push the coach based on your training and when you are subbed on.

Like the fact that he gsthers the most crosses of all goal keepers across Europe? You should find the average of all their points which you do for player ratings at the end of each game and then place them on this show at the end of the season.
Inspite of putting in the numbers, Saka does not take on players often... He is always banking on an Odegaard one two or a lapse or slip by the defender to get in.... If he wants to be like a Foden, he has to go througj 3-4-5 players with ease... He needs to be fleet footed like Odegaard... Then you get a player who is a remarkable finisher, great physical strength, can use both feet definitely, and can do everything on his own....

Good rankings overall except Saka has to be a shout for player of the season given he had the highest combined output I especially agree with Turkish on Raya. The golden glove is at best 5% attributable to him this season. He should be splitting it into three and giving it to Saliba, Gabriel and white.
To mimic their actions this season how about joint winners? Saliba and Gabriel both deserve it equally. I think this season has shown why City sold zinny and jesus to us. Last season we were not at citites level imo, so they looked like great additions to the squad. Now we have improved as a team all around, they just look like rotational players for us moving forward and are not first team calibre.

I don't believe it, not that I am a big fan of him, but objectively he is the second most essential player for Arsenal after Rice. We would have beaten City if he hadn't been injured. We are nothing without him in attack or defense. Anyone who watches soccer with the use of brain knows what I mean.
Gabriel had a better season than Saliba, he does most of the tackling and dirty work to allow Saliba to stay back and sweep things up. Saliba also made a few mistakes which wasn't pointed out. Saka was our most productive player and I understand he seems a bit passive at times in attack but people forget he has to cover for right back and is the main focal point in our counter attack with Martinelli out of form. The distance he has to travel from defence to attack is impressive. this led to his fatigue and eventually minor injuries in which he has to endured.

Saka is the POTY nobody comes close to his impact on the pitch. There would be no title race without him this season especially in the first 3-4 months when he was carrying the team with output and performances while our captain was terrible even dropped at a point because arteta decided to give Ode the spotlight in attack. Odegaard has captain privilege, recency bias and aesthetic bias over Saka even though ode has been good for what 2 months.
