@Stephen Valentine Good. You morons are very stupid we know that. But, you will come in our countries as well. Well, maybe not you because idiots like have never been outside their shithole.
@Stephen Valentine if a person is living in the UK for over 20 years is legally entitled to get the Full Settled Status. That grants an indefinite right to reside in the UK, like it or not. For people who are in the UK for one day or more, they can apply to the Pre-Settled Status, that gives them the right to remain in the UK for five years. After that time, they can apply for the full Settled Status. Like it or not, the UK needs workers to come and do the jobs Brits don't want to do. Like working in the field to pick up fruit and vegetables or serving in pubs and restaurants. And don't even make me start on the NHS, where the staff shortage was already critical before Brexit and now nurses and doctor applying for jobs dropped drastically. Who's going to do those jobs Stephen? You?
I’ve got my paperwork in order. If the U.K. want to throw me out that’s fine. I’ll just pay my taxes somewhere else. At least I’ve got a whole continent where I can choose where to work. The British public have lost those rights and will never regain it. So who is really loosing here? Don’t forget this. Compared to British citizens we are super citizens. My partner is British, I am Polish, and I do want to leave in the light of what is happening but it will be very difficult for him to move somewhere else because of having his family here. It's an awful situation for all sides. I only have this last hope that maybe Scotland will become am independent country, stay in the EU and we can then move there.
@@janber887 It won't happen. Scotland won't join the EU even if it got independence which is doubtful. Brexit is the best thing that has happened to the UK in over 40 years.
Let's leave Britain to the Brits. Welcome to Scotland and Ireland in Europe! Scottish should be allowed to get their referendum since they were not allowed from the UK to separate from them and access as an independent country to the EU since they would have vote in opposition. Ironic that with Brexit they forced Scotland out of the EU and Scottish people have the right to claim for a second referendum.
An independent Scotland would not qualify for EU membership. They would be using a foreign country's currency, how is that being independent. Many of the devolved powers they have would be ceded to Brussels. I would imagine that those EU countries who have seccecionist movements in their countries would be delighted to welcome Scotland.

@sax "there's absolutely nothing wrong with anglo saxon!" - Denial is a wonderful thing, isn't it? "it is eating us within." - Thanks for confirming it...
@sax "you know about the anglo saxons" - Actually, I don't. I am not aware of any people who either identified (i.e. "called themselves") or were identifiable (i.e. "were called by others") as the "anglo-saxons"... I am, however, aware of BOTH the Angles and Saxons - two DIFFERENT Germanic tribes who used to inhabit the middle and Southern/Continental parts of the Danish peninsula and who invaded (or were allowed to settle - depending on the historical sources being lent credence) in the South-Eastern part of the former Roman province of Britannia (i.e. modern-day Kent), as they were used as mercenary troops to defend the province both by a declining Roman empire and the later-abandoned province. The term "anglo-saxon" is only used in literature (and other media as well) to refer to these two tribes COLLECTIVELY and to highlight their common origins, traditions and history. It should NOT be conflated to refer to a unitary group of people. It also DOES LITTLE to outline the DIFFERENCES between the two... "they haven't ruled England since 1066?" - Unfortunately, it's NOT about who ruled what; it's simply (if one can say that!) about ancestry and lineage.
@sax "did you know the angle saxons had never even seen coloured people?" - No - and neither do you. (I even suspect is not actually entirely true...). Also, why is that even remotely relevant?

EU citizens need physical proof for settled status. I find the fact that they don't give one, marginally sadistic. Like they enjoy to see EU citizens feel stress and uncertainty. Honestly, how difficult would be to give physical proof?
A digital code does not sort out the normal issues that come out as an immigrant. People needs to QUICKLY be able to proof their legal residence in their host country, to everybody, not depend on a stupid digital code that might not be available when needed due to internet issues, typos with emails, or code itself... It's far too complicated. What if the site is down? Loans, mortgages, jobs, lets, education, NHS... it affects far too many daily life situations. If they insist in treating EU citizens in such a discriminatory way, all British immigrants to the EU should be refused any documentation and have to use a similar messy system. My question: WHO got the contract to get this stupidity done?
It is certainly not difficult nor costly to send an official printed confirmation to each applicant, or is it???? Gosh what a bunch of incompetent narcissistic stingy uncivilized Servants.

I remember that suit from Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) In a “shocking blunder”, the British government has undercounted the number of European Union migrants living in the country by over two million, according to figures compiled for the post-Brexit immigration settlement scheme. Some 5.6 million EU nationals have applied for settled status to stay and work in post-Brexit Britain as of May 31st. The true number of migrants from the European Union in the UK is likely to be higher, given that it is unlikely for 100 per cent of migrants to have come forward and apply for the settlement scheme, applications for which will remain open until June 30th. Even so, the number is more than two million higher than the official estimate compiled by the government in the year to June 2020, which claimed that there were only 3.45 million (non-Irish) EU nationals living in the country. The latest figures, which detail the number of EU migrants living in each local authority in England and Wales, show that certain areas of the country such as West Sussex, Wolverhampton, and some London boroughs had undercounted the number of EU nationals by over 80 per cent, reports the BBC. The government also revealed that certain nationalities had been vastly undercounted, including people from Romania, 918,270 of whom have applied for the right to remain in the country - of which 852,310 have been approved - compared to the previous official population estimate of around 400,000. So far, some 2.75 million people have been granted settled status, which allows people who can prove they have been continuously living in the UK for at least five years prior to the country’s departure from the EU at the beginning of the year. An additional 2.28 million have been approved for pre-settled status, which will allow people who have been in the country for less than five years to remain.
Companies are already asking for a copy of the settled status, which we can't provide because what Home Office send us clearly says it is not a proof of settled status. Don't know how the companies will accept this if they can't have a copy of the proof on file for reference.
@Karolina 998 exactly. In Spain they give you a card, they could do the same here. I bet it would save a lot of headaches. No settled status proof, no utility bill, they were demanding a card... of course, afterwards they let us board the plane, but you can see people aren’t educated about what is going on regarding EU citizens living here.
Brit here married to a Pole. Just claim for settled status. I'm not being funny, this shouldn't come as a surprise and you've had literally years to sort this out. Even my wife was surprised how easy it was. It does sound like there are some technical issues. I do genuinely sympathise for those hundreds impacted who have done everything right but have fallen through cracks for whatever reason. The report says there are 5.4m applications, with 300K pending (again, why would you leave this so long before applying?), and there have been "hundreds" of cases where checks have failed. Let's say that's 500, or 0.009%, and I would favour a small team in the Home Office being established and manually manage those as a priority. I'm also not against a letter being sent out to the 5.4m people so they have a hard copy, that's not exactly difficult or super expensive, few million for peace of mind seems money well spent. Likely the hundreds are only those known to have failed, and there will probably be more, so a formal document would seem wise.

I think we need more details and may be even defend the GB authorities. As much as I follow the Brexit news, this report do not answer the important questions. There are three important things missing: 1) when did the women chosen as example submitted the application with all needed attachments/documents? 2) why did she work before 2021 (or is this a misunderstanding on my side) without a written(!) contract. 3) Why is this showed as wide problem and what are the main reasons for delays? This is important, at around 2:48 the report tells us, that 5.4 Mio applications were submitted to the authorities and that there is a backlog of about 300K. Of course this can be problematic for the immigrants. But those problems have only about five percent (5%!!!) of the applications -> vice versa the GB authorities already finished 95% of all applications, right? Btw (I am a EU 🇪🇺citizen from Germany 🇩🇪) here, and also at our friends and neighbours in France, Spain and so on, the applications (in time) submitted as the post Brexit rules for immigrants were published, that means already in 2020!, are overall totally all approved.

Over 5 million EU citizens in the UK not the EU , why's that?
Exactly. If individual EU member countries are so good, why do they all leave to come to the UK?
I remember that suit from Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased)
In a “shocking blunder”, the British government has undercounted the number of European Union migrants living in the country by over two million, according to figures compiled for the post-Brexit immigration settlement scheme.
So you don’t believe British citizen shouldn’t be first to get a job in Britain?
If you are worried , then go home ! Simple
Companies are already asking for a copy of the settled status, which we can't provide because what Home Office send us clearly says it is not a proof of settled status. I have used the method of sending the code for them to access the info online, which is only valid for 30 days. Don't know how the companies will accept this if they can't have a copy of the proof on file for reference.
@Karolina 998 exactly. In Spain they give you a card, they could do the same here. I bet it would save a lot of headaches. Last year we were stopped from boarding a plane home because they required a residency card. No settled status proof, no utility bill, they were demanding a card... of course, afterwards they let us board the plane, but you can see people aren’t educated about what is going on regarding EU citizens living here.
Isn't this situation the same in Spain and Portugal for Brits ? How, or why is this different?

As much as I follow the Brexit news, this report do not answer the important questions. There are three important things missing:
1) when did the women chosen as example submitted the application with all needed attachments/documents?

A number of long-term British citizens have expressed alarm at receiving letters from the Home Office telling them they risk losing the right to work, benefits and free healthcare unless they apply for UK immigration status in the next six weeks.
The letter, which was wrongly sent to numerous people who have lived in the UK for over 40 years, states: “The United Kingdom has left the European Union, so to carry on living in the UK after 30 June 2021, you and your family members need to have a UK immigration status,” the letter states.
Among those who received the letter were several people with dual citizenship, including retired nurse Marianne Howard, 82, originally from Germany, who has been a British citizen for over 50 years; retired structural engineer George Smid, who was born in what was then Czechoslovakia and became a British citizen in 1987; Isabella Moore, originally from Poland, who has had citizenship for over 40 years and spent 33 years working as an NHS doctor; academic Jan Culik, who holds a Czech passport and naturalised in the UK 36 years ago; and architect Eva Apollo-Crawshaw, originally from Poland, who has been a British citizen for 40 years.

It's a win win win win if you are on the take and ripping off the UK TAX PAYER.
And all of this next door to me .
Open doors immigration is just so wholesome.
The time to make your mind up for the EU Citizens stay or go ❕ it's up to you.
I stay so i can see your faces every day and tell you i told you so
I trust you will learn to be ashamed of your statement and it’s callous lack of empathy. After the way this Govt.treated the WINDRUSH generation…….do you trust the likes of Priti Patel (a guest at Murdoch’s wedding !) Ever considered the contribution that foreigners make to your life………or do you never go to Chinese,Indian,Italian restaurants ? Fool.
Soon one of them will be uk mps
What a Kerpfeffel!
Brexit means #winning
Winning what? "Sovrinty"? Happy fish?

Tell that to the people that are going to get seriously hurt when it all kicks off in Northern Ireland next month.
@@Rumpelstyltskin Why will it kick off
@@deanbryce8263 Because the Unionists have their yearly bigoted march and are going to kick off.

Dont appreciate all the social political blackmail why dont you leave it to the gothernment u can all vote cant you
A better word for discrimination is English racism.
Spot on.
If we can support "refugeees," we can certainly open our arms to any European friends who are here, just as we Brits would hope to be treated anywhere in Europe that we emmigrated to. Brexit doesn't mean forgetting our friends. We've broken up with the government, not the citizens.
If you voted Brexit you wanted this. It was always obvious this would happen
@@dorbid That's not true, and if you genuinely believe that, you've not understood, or taken the time to understand, Brexit.
I love immigrants so much I married one, a Pole. Even Farage is married to a German. Many people who support Brexit love Europeans and Europe, we just don't much care for the European Union. I find it sad when the EU stands behind Spain as she sends in troops and imprisons elected representatives because they can never choose to leave, whereas we are willing to give democratic votes to our citizens.
Continuing to conflate the EU with Europe and Europeans is lazy. There are literally hundreds of millions of Europeans who are outside the EU, including another 60m today.
Whilst the OP talks with warmth about continuing to work with our friends in Europe, you, and people like you, sound bitter and frankly, sad. You need to take an honest look at yourself.
@@dorbid More than half of Britain did NOT vote for Brexit.
@@liamhalliday8437 but we don't want to in Europe anyway or Poland or Germany
@ I'm not sure what you're trying to say?
Interesting
.. Government estimated 3 million would apply for SS. Turns out its nearly double that.. No wonder public services are failing.. Policy requires accuracy of numbers to work.. Thanks Tony Blair for freedom of movement we didn't have a say on
The Portuguese lady after 20 years in Uk could obtain a British passport and simplify her life. I did my British passport 15 years ago and now I have dual citizenship (Italian and British). Now I use British in Uk and Italian in Europe so not complications for me.
Some countries don’t allow dual citizenship
Yes true. Portuguese people I believe they can.
Indeed. You cannot help those who don't help themselves. I'm glad it's working out without issue for you.
But it is not necessary to ask the citizenship to stay in UK . This is not the rule. Brits who are residents in EU are in the same situation and don’t have to ask for a second citizenship.
By the way nowodays it is more difficult to get the british citizenship .
@@metphmet it is not the rule but now I don’t have post brexit rules to follow. I did not take British citizenship to stay in Uk . It felt weird that I could not vote but had to pay tax. It is more difficult and expensive now but I would still do it. It is a choice of freedom. if I want to go and work a few years in Europe I can go and come back without restrictions and fear of losing my settled status. Boris Johnson’s father took his French passport.
Apart from not being able to vote lol.
Something you will not read anywhere, a high percentage of "British " in Italy are Russians who somehow have British paperwork , when they speak and I say you are not English they are really angry
eu has no citizens
Maybe making European people wear an armband would be a easy way to identify if they are able to receive state support in the UK.
Maybe a big yellow diamond or star on their clothing? Tattooing their foreheads or deforming their features using a branding iron? Chains would be ideal - you could hear them coming, and they'd slow the aliens down. Must dash off and tell Priti - she will be pleased in that angry, bullying way that melts my heart!
