I do not remember all the details, Gbay99 covered this topic extensively in his video about Dignitas. This tournament organizers had random rules and treated players badly, among other things. As a result, they agreed to turn the finals into a clown fiesta as retaliation. A similar thing happened with Smash bros finals when two players picked Bayonetta and stood there doing nothing.

That was a sweet gesture by the teams to just want to have fun and give something different to the show, and share. It’s a shame they were penalized for it. But they should have talked to their coaches about it first and probably would’ve been advised to at least play as normal because that’s what people came to see, an attempt at a serious competition that will help put the game on the map for eSports. This was still early in the history of the game and they aren’t going to want their athletes messing around like that. If the teams decide to share the prize that should be a good thing, but they still have to try to be serious in their game.

Yes maybe unfair for the 3rd team or other teams and can be a show of bad sportsmanship too.But if you think about it they were still playing a game of skill.Non meta champs and at a year where bets are probably not very popular since now there are a lot of methods of betting but I don’t understand why people are using today’s logic for something almost 10 years ago.The outlets available for betting are totally different and less then today.
