I threw all of my beachbody DVDs out. My routine is now your sword exercises. SWOOORD SWOOORD SWOOORD & BLOCK & BLOCK & BLOCK. My arms get tired now, but I feel I am getting stronger.

Love it. Your thought processes for game design are so fun and entertaining.

Pretty wild. The game has so much depth, my mind kind of boggles over how structure damage could be implemented

The level of detail and amount of work you put into this is amazing...keep it up, dude! I need to start playing again...

Yes, Dharma, we use our imperfect grid religiously by normal 5e speed rules. And yes, the boards limit larger encounters..thats a bummer. The table is only so big! I do think a longstride rogue is just too mobile tho...

Love your channel. I am so glad I found you through Cult-Moo. I love the cool slow-mo voices you have in your videos. Keep those videos coming. :D

I also like unpredictable magic worlds, but if I had chosen to play a wizard I might not be happy with the change.
One thing to keep in mind is that what is experienced )as a player) is that the DM's magic always works while the players' magic is wild. The players don't get to create gravity swords and giant Duergar...which are magic things that always work. Even if you stipulate via backstory or discovery that 90% of Duergar and gravity swords die/fail during the enlargement process, a player's experience is limited to the successful ones.

Haha, spell of "Monkey Person". I'll have to remember the flaming wig distraction trick. Good stuff, man.

Your videos are highly entertaining hahaha. Some of my favorite for sure. I haven't browsed them yet, so I'm not sure if you have done any tutorial videos or just time lapses of how you physically build your rooms, but if not, I would love to see that. I just get anxious to build stuff like that and am always eager to see how people do things so I can implement new techniques in my crafting.

Awesome stuff man! Really love how you can recylce all the parts you made for the underdark in your forest settings. They dont look out of place at all.
I would love to see you do a board with an ice theme biome to it. The stone pieces you've done would look awesome on them because they have a very cold stone feel to them.

I've been curious how you handle movement & range on your boards. Since you have been doing a loose/imperfect grid, I didn't know if you adhered to it. Can you talk more about range restrictions you've enforced, and how do you handle movement distance?
I lean towards bringing the dynamics into play, regardless of scale. In my mind, covering most of the board in a single round is a little bland for every encounter. So like you said, allow & even force scenarios where you are out of range, are at extreme ranges, can't advance far, can't reach high enough, etc, to bring out the different tactics.

Another way to think about it:
You like dwarves and visceral combat and solving The Riddle of Steel. You have said that you view magic as _unleashing_ cosmic powers. People who like mages take the view they are _harnessing_ primal forces.

    Nice ---love the troll timer.
Do you find that the group just defaults to "ATTACK!" rather than coming up with creative ways to deal with stuff though? Or does it make them quicker at being creative?

Did you switch to DCC from 5e, or do you simply use the magic mechanics from DCC? Looking it over, I might add in a few Magic items that cast spells with the DCC rules rather than the 5e ones.

    • @Runehammer1
      @Runehammer1  8 років тому

just hijacked the mechanics for a destabilizing effect on magic..lasted about 4 sessions...

How do you make those damn nice looking natural hedgerow?
Is this only lichen moss glued to foamboard?
    No painting?
How do you make them hold on the foam? Simple PVA glue or hot glue? Does it deteriotate/loses material when you touch them?
    SHARE YOUR SECRETS! :P

Runehammer ohhh, is that like ADnD style spell "memorization" and all that jazz? I've been intrigued by it for some time
Edit - just googled this jazz, yes, Vancian magic, brutal stuff. You said it was your players first time with it, so you apply the spell check effects in 5e, or did something happen to the world to make magic less stable? I'm very interested in this. Anyway, thanks for pointing me in the right direction, I've got a rulebook to go read now
