We love Panama and are getting residency there. We were also very impressed with the grocery stores there, both price and quality. I was curious how Panama compared to the DR in this regard, so this video was informative.
My recollection (although I could be off) is that these prices are similar to Panama's. Doesn't seem cheaper or more expensive. But the quality and selection in Panama seems way better.

Brother you love junk food, get serious. And by the way Dominican supermarket are great and we a huge selection. You are first person that question the supply of products in the DR.
Thanks for the comment! It’s nothing personal or about national pride. It’s just fact and the way to deal with claims if they matter enough is answer with facts: 1. Pick a product range apart from tubars. 2. State which country has less than DR. 3. List what they are. Let the facts speak! BTW I am also critical of the consistency of supply of some products in Panama too. And stupid things like they increase the price 1/3 when there is buy 2 get 1 free etc jaja. There is no bias, I just share the facts.
@@EverythingPanama what l tried to say that you are the only one saying things about DR supermarkets. I’m not say you are wrong. I live in USA and when l go to the DR the supermarkets are in my opinions the best l see in Latin America. I’ve been to many Latin countries including Panamá. Peace brother
Very thankful! I'm looking for a close to Caribbean Sea destination either a Caribbean Island or a country around Central America which safe, good infrastructure and decent health care. Which one has relatively cheaper prices compared to countries like UK, The Netherlands, Germany? What other countries besides Panama are an option?
Welcome! Those 3 things are not really the fortes of Caribbean islands. For a random example of why not, you have the hurricanes. Panama does not have hurricanes. Panama however is not a budget destination, although how you live makes a huge difference to costs. There are too many things to go through in a comment but I highly recommend watching this video to get a feel for Panama ua-cam.com/video/elNQU2FuzPA/v-deo.html For significantly lower prices + infrastructure + great food + generally good manners and level of education, Colombia is worth looking at if you’re willing to sacrifice more security. Medical care is also - on average - good, but unfortunately there are many inconsistencies.

Pesos. You will see a lot of people, especially locals, tell you to use dollars, if you ask. Of course they will! Their self interest has nothing to do with yours. The image of naive “ rich” foreigners throwing dollars around is very appealing and often reinforced. The real question to ask is what do locals do. They are spending pesos.
