Method:
1. Prepare Milk Mixture:
• In a pot, combine milk, sugar, and half of the elaichi. Bring to a boil over high heat.
2. Prepare Balls:
• In a mixing bowl, combine milk powder, elaichi, baking powder, and mix well.
• Add an egg and mix thoroughly.
• Knead the mixture for a few minutes until it forms a cohesive dough.
• Roll the dough into a tight log to ensure the balls don't break when boiled in the milk.
3. Shape and Boil Balls:
• Cut the log into pieces and shape them into balls. This should yield approximately 10 balls.
• Once the milk comes to a boil, carefully add the balls to the milk.
• Cover the pot, leaving a slight gap, and cook for 10 minutes.
• After 5 minutes, turn the balls over in the pot and optionally add a pinch of saffron to the milk. Cover and continue cooking.
4. Check for Doneness:
• After 5 more minutes, check if the balls are fully cooked by using a spoon to break one open. It should be fully cooked through.
5. Add Pistachios and Cool:
• Once cooked, turn off the heat and add pistachios to the pot. Cover the pot with a lid and let it cool completely.
6. Chill in Fridge:
• After the mixture has cooled completely, transfer it to the fridge and let it chill.
• Add more milk to the mixture according to your preference.
• The dessert can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days.
