Sorry, it was 3 years ago and I can't remember the exact route we took. But we did the Grossglockner, Stelvio Pass, the Great Dolomites drive, and a good section of the Great German Alpine Drive. If you look those up you'll be able to see where those roads go, and just plan how to link them altogether. I hope that helps.
Great video Barry, thank you for sharing such amazing trip and scenery. I`m sure some riders got fully convinced now to ride to the same destinations you went...I`m one of them in due time, for sure!!
Great video! My wife and I did an Edelweiss Best of Europe tour in June of that year. While watching your video and seeing the bike you rode I noticed the license plate. Turns out it was the exact same bike we used! It was brand new when they handed me the key. It had 1 kilometer on the clock!! We plan to go back but next time we want to do what you did. Rent a bike and go on our own. Thanks for sharing!! Cheers!
Sorry for the late reply to your comment. How coincidental is that. We both rode the same bike. We really enjoyed doing the trip on our own. We went where we wanted when we wanted. It was a good way to do things. We did get lucky though and met some local riders the first night we were on the road. They gave us some great suggestions of roads to take while sitting around a map!
Hi Barry, enjoyed watching your video. I did a similar trip in June 2018 , stayed in Sell Am Zee for the Gross Glockner and Merano for the Stelvio. Just got a Gopro last month so hope to record my future trips like you did. Mark
So totally loved the video. Please do share details about your expenses from bike rental to accommodations to train fares and dinning. Your response will help my wife and me plan our European bike trip next summer (pending Covid-19). Thanks.
Video never captures the full essence of being there, but the video was spectacular so it must have been UNBELIEVABLE in real life. Was that an OzSTOC jacket I spotted in the reflection on the Navman screen Barry? Awesome. Skip.
Na ja, da wären Karteneinbledungen sinnvoll. Und... fahrt ihr ein Motorrad oder eine Musikbox? (well, a map insert would make sense. And...do you drive a MOTORbike or a jukebox?)
My daughter and I did this trip 7-8 years ago when she was 15 and I was trying to do a Father-Daughter trip before I lost her to the boys! We did it on a BMW 1100LT two up, and looking at the pix of Stelvio Pass still scare me to death! I had ridden all over the Western USA and Canada for 25-30 years, and this Pass was heart stopping! I dropped the bike twice going up (at 5 mph around turns, no injuries and used up the bike deductible!), and was still shaking an hour after we got to the top and took a break! Great Trip! Edelweiss is a GREAT company and we still are in touch with our guides....friends for life.
Hey Barry. Great trip! Can you please add some experience about average accomodation, fuel, toll road costs? Im planing to go too and just started gathering info
Exactly Glen. We were also aware that we were a long way from home and didn't need to take any unnecessary chances. Having said that. I felt much safer getting around those twisting roads on a bike than I did when we were in our hire car.
Hi Rick. September was a great time to go for us in 2018. It was after the main European holiday peak season. However we were aware the weather can get a bit iffy the later in the year you plan to go. We got lucky and had great weather in September and October. Enjoy your trip!
Hi Paul. We shipped our own gear over. It was just easier with intercoms and video equipment that was already set up to work with our own riding gear. It was a bit expensive to post over, and because for the first 4 weeks of our holiday we travelled with another couple in a car, we really didn't have the space for riding gear as well. So we posted it straight to the bike hire company.
@@brieneaton8578 thanks mate. Yes the scenery was breathtaking a lot of the time and it was hard not to look around. But the mountain passes would be pretty unforgiving if you mucked them up. So that keeps you focused. We rode at a relaxed pace and loved every moment.
Tanks gays for sharing your trips nice fouto and films
Good video good place👍👍
I have watched many adventure videos but this one is ranked top list...
Thankyou
@@BarryK1200LT waiting more exciting videos dear like your tour to Europe ..

What a bike, what a couple, congrats from a little town in Segovia, Spain. Beautiful video.
Great photography, spectacular views, thanks for sharing that. A most enjoyable watch.
Brilliant, looks like you had an amazing time! 👍
We certainly did. I hope to someday return and do another Alps ride.
Fantastic video one of the best I’ve seen.
Great video. Thank you so much for sharing.
Wonderful ride. Beautiful place.

Planning to escape to these parts in 2020,your vid' is inspiring...much obliged for an hour well spent ;)
You'll have a ball.
Great video & great memories. I'm gearing up for trip #14 to the Alps this summer. Can't get enough.
We're keen to go back and see more.
@@BarryK1200LT The problem is that the list of places to go and things to see and roads to ride keeps getting longer, not shorter.
... nice video! ... nice story! ... SALUT from Austria
Awesome video.
Beautiful, better at really seeing the architecture and mountains than most. I liked it very much!

Thanks Mark. Its a great place to go riding. I'd love to go back and do more some day. Only thing stopping me is money ;)

Did you miss the Franz-Josef Hütte am Großglockner? That's sad...

True. Film never captures the essence of touring. Yes it was the Ozstoc Jacket :)
Great trip, me and a few mates are planning ours for 2020. Can't wait! 👍🏻
You'll love it. I can't wait to go back and spend more time riding over there.

I can't remember sorry.
What time of year were you there? Ta
September/October.
I am planning similar trip in September, 2019. How was the weather and crowds?

Hi Barry, beautiful trip, do you have a Google map? I'd like to use it :)
Sadly no I don't.
Did you take your own riding gear or hire it?
