Back in the day, when I purchased my first home to live-in; that was Miami in the early 1990s, first mortgages with rates of 8 to 9% and 9% to 10% were typical. People will have to accept the possibility that we won't ever return to 3%. If sellers must sell, home prices will have to decline, and lower evaluations will follow. Pretty sure I'm not alone in my chain of thoughts.
If anything, it'll get worse. Very soon, affordable housing will no longer be affordable. So anything anyone want to do, I will advise they do it now because the prices today will look like dips tomorrow. Until the Fed clamps down even further, I think we're going to see hysteria due to rampant inflation. You can't halfway rip the band-aid off.
You're spot on! It's essential to be aware of the housing market and financial markets. With the new mortgage rates and evolving guidelines, it's smart to think about adjusting your investments. Consulting with an independent financial advisor who comprehends the financial markets can guide you in making the best decisions during these uncertain times.
This report really shows the reality that this issue is affecting all types of people. Sick of seeing those silly comments where people blame single mothers for their choices, because this report shows there are father and couples who are going through the same thing. This is affecting all of us!
I get your point but at the same time it’s the responsibility of young people and young parents to know their financial situations so really it’s kind of their fault the situation there in I’m young and yeah I’d like to have children but not until I’m absolutely sure I’m financially sustainable to pay and bring up my children or child people that have kids with no job no money and no sustainable life with housing are simply stupid people
@@DonSoprano47 if inflation goes out of control and then so does interest rates and therefore rent a few years after having children, then how is it your fault? Are people supposed to be wealthy enough to manage absolutely any financial crisis and cost of living crisis?! Quite impossible. Let's ignore lizz truss and quazi mini budget disaster, let's ignore major mismanagement by government, all the dodgey ppe contracts, millions claimed back on credit cards for MPs, 5 star subsidised meals in the houses of parliament and the list goes on
It is affecting so many people, but if I say anything, then people say it's not true. My granddaughter had a lovely flat and after 4 years she couldn't pay the rent because it had trebled. It's not fair that the landlords can do this it's just greed on the landlords part. I live in West Yorkshire, and 1 bedroom flats in rough areas are going for over a thousand pounds a month it's totally unfair and ridiculous. Whereas just over a year ago the same flat was 375 per month. That flat has trebled, and it needs to stop. The flat my granddaughter left was empty for 10 months after she left, and the landlord, if he'd been reasonable, could have got another 10 months rent.
@@DonSoprano47 right now, if you have a 7 year old, you may have decided to start a family when you had a salary to support one... since then several challenges have happened back to back, brexit, inflation, energy crisis, covid... This is on top of any personal challenges they may well have been preparing for but that money they had doesn't pay for as much anymore. Wages are not going up with inflation. This is not as simple as everyone that is struggling is just reckless...
Mortgage rates are currently at an all time high since 2000(23 years) and based on statistics on inflation, we might see that number skyrocket further, a 30-year fixed rate was only 5% this time last year, so do I just keep waiting for a housing crash before buying or redirect my focus to the equity market
People working full time jobs and still homeless…come on England why are these families on their knees? It’s disgusting and heartbreaking. Makes me so sad 😞

Council houses should never have been sold off in the first place. Here in my town ex council houses are selling between £290-£300k! If you were one of the first to buy in the 80`s you'd be laughing but at the expense of todays working homeless
It really hit me when they spoke to the boy. I saw myself in that clip. Me and Mum were evicted from my childhood home when I was 14, this was during the credit crunch as it was called in 2009, as my estranged Dad stopped paying the mortgage for a year without warning. Back then, we had to rely on Enfield Council to rehouse us and council housing was in a shortage. We were given temporary accomodation only a few miles from my house almost immediately and luckily only had to move once more into another temporary accomodation before getting a permanent council place. It took 8 years to get a permanent place but at least it was in the same council area. I found that tough growing up and it really scars you for life but at least it was proper accomodation. I can't imagine what it is like now for these people, it is just not fair! What does months of uncertainty in a hotel room or a tent do to someone!!! These people and really everyone are being failed by councils and the government and it is an embarassment. Why should someone have to uproot their family 100s of miles away because housing is so unaffordable?! These people are just trying to live their lives, its not fair! This problem won't be fixed unless councils can buy all the empty homes cheaply and start a mass social home building programme. Right to buy without replacing the council houses sold was a colossal mistake.
True and no adult should be having children if they don’t have the means. If you are still renting you are not ready for children. Wait until your life gets better.

The law that states we should help everyone who floats over on a dinghy needs repealing too.---Its just a magnet, we have our own - we don't need imports.
They’re all homeless because private rents are scandalous. Something needs to be done about these landlords. Why is a single room in London £700?! Edit: I live in a cheaper part of London, £700 is the starting point.
Because in the vast land of the UK lots of people seem to want to contain themselves inside within the M25. Planning laws mean we dont build tall enough apartments to house everyone to charge a more affordable price. So it makes London into a playground for the rich and those that bought their houses when they were cheap.
Your right about mentioning london. So much is location. In my northern town the average rent, including houses is £600 pcm. It's a town of low wages so people discount it as a place to live so there's plenty of property for sale or rent. A semi detached house is only £130k and you can buy a terraced house for way less than £100k. Yes wages are lower than other areas but when I'm on only £28k per year, buying my 1800 sq ft, 50s built semi for £70k was no problem even as a sole mortgage holder. Yet people earning double the money than I do can't afford to even rent a place in such as London. Too many people look at London with starry eyes.
Sorry but you are blaming the wrong people - this is down to the government and government policies over decades. It grinds my gears with people constantly blaming landlords……this is exactly what the government pushes, and the people have fallen for it. I’m a renter, but I also understand enough about the rental market to know this is not all down to greedy landlords. Are there greedy unscrupulous landlords, absolutely but they are not the majority. There are multiple reasons why we are in the housing mess we are in today - firstly we don’t build enough houses, and that has been the case for decades. Not only do we not build enough houses, but when we do build houses, they are often the wrong type of property for the people most in need of housing. Also in this country we have a free for all when it comes to foreigners investing in property. Many countries put various restrictions on foreigners when it comes to property ownership, but not here. Foreign investors in large cities like London buy thousands of properties and use them as places to park their money, this artificially inflates prices, and adds to properties being unaffordable for local people. On the subject of Landlords - it is estimated that in 2022 alone 127,000 private rental properties were lost to the market. This year 2023 it is estimated that 10% of private rental properties will be removed from the market…..in 2024 it is expected to get even worse. Landlords are selling up in their droves…..the primary reason; the government. Several years ago the government began to change the way landlords were taxed on rental properties. In some cases the taxes paid by landlords have become so punitive, it has become unviable to keep the property. Some landlords actually ended up paying the government more money in tax than they bought in via the rent. The government were warned that it would result in a mass exodus of landlords, but as they were so keen on pushing the agenda of greedy landlords were the problem, (to cover up their own deficiencies) no one cared that landlords would be taxed more (and why should they) This is only the start….given the hike in interest rates, and even more punitive rules against landlords to come, and it’s going to get much, much, worse….as more landlords sell up, and there are fewer rental properties prices will rise even further. There is no prospect of more houses being built, because the government has no interest in doing so….plus add to that the NIMBYS who are masters of getting new housing developments delayed, or even canceled and the future looks grim. On a final note, it used to be the case that 63% of landlords owned just one property, that figure has now dropped to around 43%. Interestingly the tax changes I mentioned were specifically designed to penalise small landlords of this type. Larger landlords who hold their properties within a business are not affected in the same way by these tax changes……it just so happens that scores of government ministers, and other politicians own large property portfolios held within businesses. They look after themselves but screw over the little guy, more for them, and we all lose as a result. This is far more complex, than the stereotypical greedy landlord…true in some cases, but often a sound-bite used by the government to deflect what’s really going on.
This program touches my heart, I take things for granted to see a young boy just glad to go to the park with a ball at his feet and other families struggling I'm in tears.
A lot of immigrants were positively affecting the economy, they were the cleaners, cooks and builders of the country.....stop blaming immigrants for a rigged class system that has existed in the UK for decades and decades. I left the country and never looked back, its rigged. I was a uni graduate and didnt see a path to owning my own property. You try your best but the wages are shite and the houses are comedically expensive.
How about people from this country abusing this system, living off their rented second third and fourth property or buying houses purely for investment and keeping them empty? It is not the immigrants that ruin this country’s housing, its the home bread greed and benefiting from the situation economically. Look at how many of MPs are landlords!
See and people are being call racists for saying that, but it's just logical. There should be a sign saying sorry "WE CAN'T EVEN PROVIDE A PLACE FOR NATIVE" try again in 50 yrs! I mean what's the point of providing for others when we can't even help ourselves?!!
@@jacquelinebailey3637 unfortunately that idea would never work, in practice. You can't stop paying a tax that you never had a choice to pay in the first place, for example income tax.
Been there and it's horrible. The fear you feel especially when you have a child. I was top of the list and classed as homeless after my marriage broke down. I applied for my area and was told it could take up to 6 years even though I was at the top of the list. I ended up having to move to a place I'd never been before and it took so long to find it. My son had to change school. But I am eternally grateful. We had a roof over our heads. I never want to be in that situation again. Having to smile to your child when inside your crumbling and your world has fallen apart is one of the hardest things I had to do.
Hopefully you were able to get a job in your new area. The big problem is that anywhere that has full employment has very high rents and very low available rentals and anywhere with cheap rents or a lot of available rentals either has poor living conditions or little or no suitable employment. As an Irishman I was shocked at the cost of rail travel in the UK and its increasingly unaffordability for commuting as a way to access affordable rents. The system seems to be set up to get the ordinary worker either by high rents in job rich areas or high commuting costs from reasonably affordable areas. Ireland faces a similar housing problem in that the local councils who traditionally looked after public housing provision have almost ceased operating in that area. A perfect storm of high labour costs, high material and energy costs, lack of trained people willing to work in construction and a totally obstructive and slow planning process has led to this disaster. At one time in the 1990's an average single Irish worker could afford a basic house on 3 times their annual wage. Mortgages were for 20 years, sometimes less. Now the person needs 10 times the average industrial wage and a mortgage for 30 years or more to get the average modern house.
I'm glad your life is better now. I hope you don't mind me asking, Are you British? The reason I ask is because this seems to be happening in most if not all industrialized countries. I've seen stories like this in Canada as well. My thought is that corporate greed has taken over even more during and since COVID, and this is the result. I have really come to realize since I retired 10 years ago, how fortunate I am to have a home.
@@titanman8302 Thank you. Yes I am British. Back in the 80's Margaret Thatcher brought in the "right to buy" meaning people living in authority housing could purchase the property at a big discount. Which at the time would have been great for people I'm guessing to be able to own their own home and have that security but fast forward to now there has been a lack of social housing since. The government haven't built enough social housing meaning the register or waitlist is huge. It has given Private landlords the chance to cash in because of the lack of housing they can charge more, meaning people like myself wouldn't be able to afford to rent privately. It frightened me and I would go as far to say changed me as a person. Before that I was married for 16 years, a stay at home mum and working part time. My marriage broke down. My husband said he would pay the mortgage instead of paying me maintenence for our son and I agreed but he stopped paying the mortgage without me knowing. I had a letter months later from his solicitor saying the house was going to be repossessed and that "You and your son will be removed by bailiffs" My then husband had moved away and in with another woman. He cut contact with his son. It was just a desperate situation and all I could think about was my son. Do I tell him? How can I not tell him but more than anything I didn't want to scare him. The word "bailiffs" scared me. In the UK when you are on the waitlist they use a bidding system. So they put up houses that are available and every Friday you have to place a bid. Whoever is at the top of the list will get offered that property. Hundreds of people bid and sometimes there will be just 5 properties that week. I was top of the list but there were always 60+ people above me bidding on any one property. A property came up one week, in a place I'd never been too, miles from where I lived but I put a bid on it and had to wait till Monday to find out I was successful. I nearly clapsed from the relief. I signed on the Wednesday. Fast forward 3 years we are still here. You never think you will ever be homeless but life can change in a split second. I would be scared to leave here now. If I got into a relationship where it progressed I know it would scare me to move in with someone because of what happened. On a positive note though I consider myself extremely lucky. We made it out before the bailiffs got there ....my son didn't have to go through that or temporary accommodation. We stayed together. We were offered something secure. My son is now working full time and is fiercely independant. I'm still trying to heal from it all but I appreciate things so much. I have alot of empathy towards people who are going through the same. We never think things will happen to us ..until they do.

Then let's hope the high earners can wash their own windows, clean their own work's toilets, and mow the grass in the local parks - because if they won't give people in low income jobs a wage that will allow them to live within a reasonable distance of their jobs, they will try to find both a job and home elsewhere. I used to have to travel into London from quite a distance, because I was so badly paid (gardener). It meant getting up at 3:30am and not getting home until 8:30pm every day. I used to pick up a sandwich on the way home, eat that, go to bed as soon as I got in at night. It's so tiring to have to travel a long way between your job and home, and you can't give your job your best when you're tired all the time.
If London will not change this, it can lead to " rich people only" place. How come those hard working families cant rent or live in tents? Your political leaders and councils should talk to these people where to meet in the middle.
It's happening all over the country. The Lake District is being leached of its local community because of rich people and their panic-bought second, third, fourth holiday homes. Truly, the rich float above reality.
@@debbiehenri345 Their plan is to do what has always been done in third world countries, have the low income people that serve the city live in slums just outside the city (the tents that they show here are the start) and make transportation accessible, but really bad, so they can have the low incomers come into the city just to do those maintenance jobs. This is what they are going for. But they forget that the youth of today is very different from past generations and won't accept that kind of treatment anymore. So among the things one can expect from the UK for the next 10 years, is first a lot of suicide, and then civil war, the union breaking and Westminster going to hell, where it belongs.
Absolutely outrageous, I am in a similar situation for myself, old disabled etc! but I have no children or babies to worry about ( child now an adult , I still worry but has a roof for now) this government needs to get a grip ! I am beyond furious.
Something has to change FAST. Everyone I know including myself fears their rent being put up or being told to leave. No matter what walk of life you are from everyone's finances are so finely balanced right now that anything can tip you into a crisis. It's really scary and needs to be addressed. Where will this end up???
It's not easy to fix: All measures to stop rent increases are doomed as those are meant to cover costs (which are also rising, nobody wants to let to lose money). And even if we somehow magically get all the boomers to remain quiet and stop sabotaging residential development for a while, you can't just build 200K family houses in a year extra. It's not that simple and there's not enough planners, not enough builders, etc.
Mainstream media and that includes ITV have failed to cover what is really going in the UK for years. Finally, ITV might have woken up to what is happening. GBNews and TalkTV have been covering this topic since they both launched. I no longer watch live TV and have not for 7 years, I do have the odd look in on these mainstream news channels on UA-cam just to see if they are covering what is really going on.
Stay strong England. The homeless shelters are full up in the “powerful & wealthy” USA w/no housing options/pathways out of poverty in sight.” - reporting straight from the heart of the Bible Belt/Midwest United States
The issues are NOT just not building enough new homes it’s also allowing “normal” expletive to become landlords who then don’t have the skills to manage their housing properties because they are over leveraged or they farm out the responsibility to agencies who then take a big cut of the monthly rent making it impossible for a small private landlord to offer a sensible rent. Additionally many houses / homes in rural towns / villages and sea towns are now plagued with second homes used by the rich to holiday and rent out via AIRBNB and other means instead of being rented by locals to actually live in as homes and be part of the community. Locals brought up in an area can no longer afford to live where their families are and so there is very little support for anyone who wants to raise a family. Successive governments have allowed this to happen but it al started with Maggie Tatcher and the selling off of local government social housing!
It wasn’t the selling off of council houses that caused the problems, it was selling them off at ridiculously low prices and not building more with the monies raised!
@@kev845 You say "then buy a house" like most people don't dream and work towards owning their own home or something. You're conveniently skirting the fact that house prices have balooned to 8x the average working salary. In the 1960's it was about 4 x the average working salary and very feasible to own property. The vast majority of people have been priced out of ownership, it was the 80's where it took the biggest turn for the worst and then spiralled out of control when Blair & Brown took over with New Labour in the late 90's. The problem is only going to get worst, this is the tail end of what greed, corruption and crony capitalism looks like, the system is about to collapse.
No it is down to unmanageable levels of immigration that this problem is caused by, other factors contribute in small percentages but the overwhelming influx of migrants is causing this problem.
For anyone in this situation struggling down south : things are better up north and you can still be well connected to major city hubs like Manchester if that’s your thing. Rent can be hovering around 550 to 700 per month for many quite nice flats and terraced houses which would hopefully be affordable for someone on full time pay. You might not have family and friends up here but there’s lots of green space, job opportunity and things to do.

75% somalis in the uk are in social housing. so have a think. we can put people born in another country into social housing, but not uk born people. we have had a decreasing birth rate for decades but we have less housing available. why? adding 10 million adults to the country in recent years is the reason. there is housing up north. and much cheaper. the housing crisis is mostly in London. this is because most immigrants want to live in London with London being the financial capitol of Europe. That's why London is struggling with housing. You increase the demand, and so the supply is an issue, and that means the cost of that rare commodity goes up. I don’t even bother bidding anymore, by the time we’re offered bigger space I will be in a better position. I’m taking the necessary steps and I’ll be in my own home one day.
I live on an estate of semi detached houses. Over half have now been bought by developpers to turn into houses of multiple occupancy. 6 rooms per houses, rented out at £200 a week. Families mostly gone now and the once lovely community destroyed by greed. One landlord owns four of the houses.
It makes you think what the point of living is if you can't get your own space or place, a catch 22. No affordable housing or renting from landlords cashing in on it. How are you supposed to survive in this day and age.

In this economic climate the brutal truth is that people need to think very carefully about whether they can afford to have children and provide for them in the longer term. Otherwise it is desperately unfair on the kids.
I seem to recall that after the war the UK was bankrupt, huge swathes of housing had been destroyed, food was rationed and the country in mourning for those killed. AND YET the government fixed that, the NHS was founded, council houses were built, money was borrowed and new industries started. So, government, how about a bit of thinking rather than worrying about how to fund your new swimming pool out of taxpayers money 🤬

Even more then £700...
The government were warned that it would result in a mass exodus of landlords, but as they were so keen on pushing the agenda of greedy landlords were the problem, (to cover up their own deficiencies) no one cared that landlords would be taxed more (and why should they)
This is only the start….given the hike in interest rates, and even more punitive rules against landlords to come, and it’s going to get much, much, worse….as more landlords sell up, and there are fewer rental properties prices will rise even further.
A, because they can,
And b, because people will pay it.
This program touches my heart, I take things for granted to see a young boy just glad to go to the park with a ball at his feet and other families struggling I'm in tears.

I left the country and never looked back, its rigged. I was a uni graduate and didnt see a path to owning my own property. You try your best but the wages are shite and the houses are comedically expensive.
Not to mention the shocking amount of homes/buildings being used (mainly by european scumbags) as cannibis factories.

Brave lady, stay strong for your family!
@@RJ-ql6ff Thank you ❤️ I'm trying.
@RishiSunak and the Conservative Party are to blame. He gives Asylum seekers and illegal migrants priority and decent homes.

It sounds like the plan for London is to price every normal working class person out so only high earners can afford to live there.

My landlord is selling so I'm being evicted for no fault of my own. Always paid my rent. Scrapping no fault eviction doesn't change this fact as they can still sell under section 8.
@@SS-hl6utin New Zealand that's against the law . They changed alot of the housing laws in New Zealand if you want to evict a tenant because u want to live in the property or a family member does like an immediate family member you have to have the paperwork in place . You cannot evict a tenant just to increase the rent and get new tenants
You’re not alone. Many landlords are selling right now due to the high interest rate and inflation. It’s a business for them.
Interest rates are rising they are selling its their best option unfortunately
@@Bebedollie well alot get away easy with breaking the laws here we are a fairly lawless country fearing the law is a thing of the past....when even you get put in prison you are out in two seconds flat on good behavior you can be a rapist and murderer and we back walking the streets in afew years. Plus if you do go in nick....you get free rent and food and tv and games and all the lot....so is it really punishment sounds good when you are destitute.
Rents r out of control and r still rising. It’s all causing worry and concern. Even the elderly r becoming homeless, it’s a sad situation for all. 😔😔😔
Its not your country anymore
LEAVE!!
Families need to move up north and we need to stop all migration to the UK until we have a handle on the housing, NHS, education crises.
This is ridiculous. All that wealth and so little for working families
moral of the story don't be poor.

Really need to Bring Back Proper Council Housing.
@chrissyp2890agree 100 %. And once kids have grown and left. Be moved into a smaller place. So it can be given to another family.
We need to bring back the nuclear family
@@maxspurlin2002 We need to bring back wages that can support this, as opposed to two parents barely being able to afford a flat for themselves and one child miles from where they work...

Need to stop immigration
That's bang out of order 3 young kids with a young single mother who works and is trying her hardest but yet she has to go through hell and back.
Disgraceful. This government makes me extremely angry. No empathy or care for anyone apart from themselves.
VERY GOOD! 😂😂😂. More migrants are deserving than you salty english folks
They seem to care about the non-British

This country is broken
Yep! Yet they let in thousands of those sand-dwelling c0ckroachs from middle east. The Royal Family deserves to be hung.
Then leave. It belongs to the migrants
How has the UK done this to its people?! And the arrogance to take in people who have nothing, when they cant even support the people born here?! The wealth this country has and yet the working people are pushed to poverty. Its sickening.
Why aren't the government building available houses for god's sake ? God bless these people . Its heart breaking . I was from the generation where I worked and was able to buy my council house . Now people can not get a council home. That is where money needs to be placed. The number of empty buildings can be made in lovely 3 bedroom properties . And help these lovely people .
This seems to be a problem across the western world. I live in Australia, and we have tent citys in public parks. I have seen reports of lines of tents on footpaths in the USA.
It's very bad in California.
All over the u.s., Illegal immigrants given housing, food, medical, $40,000 start up money, while our own veterans and unemployed live destitute
@@J.Marrs76true but the majority of homeless in California are mentally ill drug addicts. Very few are working, functioning adults.
Tents in all the towns around Seattle. I made video of Burien tents and in Portland.
Wet cold weather here in UK 😮.warm and dry in your country.easy to survive.😮
Near Paddington Basin, under the flyover there are people living in tents....... near Edgware Road station! See for yourself!!!!
The impact is massive! And it's getting worse everywhere.
Perhaps we should be looking after our own population instead of sending money abroad and giving
Access to hotels for our illegal invasion
And here I am worried about my 1 bed flat that I share with my 7yo girl. We are blessed. I work full time, she’s got so many toys, gadgets, devices, full fridge. I’ve got that security and a solid foundation. I’m only 23. Working full time 40 hours a week. I have great work experience and skills. Going back to uni full time in September too. I don’t even bother bidding anymore, by the time we’re offered bigger space I will be in a better position. I’m taking the necessary steps and I’ll be in my own home one day.
I’ve been living in Enfield for over 14 years. It is The Worst council ever. It’s utterly disgrace!
Luton is worse
It's same here in Sheffield the council are a disgrace
most of them same 😢
they only talk sweet and only trying to say that they doing well but if you go inside people life its too sad ,,this is my experience
many things are wrong unfortunately
I live on an estate of semi detached houses. Over half have now been bought by developpers to turn into houses of multiple occupancy. 6 rooms per houses, rented out at £200 a week. Families mostly gone now and the once lovely community destroyed by greed. One landlord owns four of the houses.
I literally cannot believe my eyes. The government needs to be ran out of office.
It makes you think what the point of living is if you can't get your own space or place, a catch 22. No affordable housing or renting from landlords cashing in on it. How are you supposed to survive in this day and age.
Be an asylum seeker. Everything is free and you get to choose the london borough you want to live in.
Dan Hewitt really is the people’s champion in his journalism Thank you so much for fighting the hard fight and shining a light on this and all of the reports you do! Seriously thank you so much for fighting the good fight!
Problems when you open up the floodgates!
England should limit immigration and start helping the poor in this country first.
Same in the United States.
Count your blessings cause many are REFUSED a hotel room. They are kicked out on the street. Bide your time. It will come. I went through it myself, it’s scary. I was just greatful to be on their books and put into emergency accommodation, many don’t even get that luxury it’s really sad 💔
I was told all sorts, they wasn’t going to help me, to go private rent as it was my only option. I sat right through crazy anxiety and it all worked out for me after doing 13 MONTHS alone at Xmas! Dogs In a foster home relying on me otherwise they would of been released back to me and we all would of been on the streets. So while everyone woke up to their families Xmas morning I woke up to a very lonely room, my blessings came as now I have a loverly little home and will always be forever greatful. When you’ve had nothing in life you evaluate things differently, don’t expect to get a house straight away cause it won’t happen. Stay positive and just hope for the best it’s all you can do. 🤞🙌🏼💯
If the council hadn't let people buy their council houses then there would have been more accommodation.
I know 3 people who bought their council house and after a few years sold them.
Or the likes of Patricia Bright Nigerian mother who bought them for next to nothing and rented them out to make money on them. Disgusting
You're seriously arguing against people being able to own a house? You're against private property? This country wasn't built by people relying on the council for everything. You sound like a socialist, boring.
Yup, a terrible policy, really paying for it now.
Mate 1.2 million council houses were given to non Britishers families. Somalians and Pakistanis are the highest tenant's in council housing in London and Birmingham.. wake up.. we wouldn't have neded extra housing of we didn't take the third world to our breast. Don't get me wrong the government need to build more housing but let's remember immigration might not be solely to blame but its sure didn't help.
Keeping The Rich, Rich
And The Poor............. Homeless.
Disgusting what is happening. A friend recently despite earning 40k a year had to give 6 months rent in advance for a 1 bedroom as he couldn’t get anything otherwise. Then 6 months again in advance for the second half of the year. I feel awful for everyone affected.
Edit: to clarify you need 3 x salary vs rent so for a 1 bed at £1,400 a £40k income is not enough
And he's on 40k!
If you are on 40k a year you should be able to live like a king , people are utterly useless at managing money.
@@topfuelteddy i think that is one problem yes. 40k netts to £2600 take home. By the time you've paid rent, council tax, heating, electric, food and full time childcare you are probably left with around just 800 for everything else which isn't a lot.
@@thepikeangler2022 What's rent ? Why don't people save a massive deposit on a house and get a mortgage like we all did back in the day ? Oh I know, they're not capable.

Even though the birth rate is getting lower, the population keeps going up, how strange.
Bruh, how can you not get that? It's the easiest thing to understand, the birth rate hasn't yet lowered the enough for population to stop increasing. Basic logic. Can people not think logically anymore?
