- Courtney Fritz Pandolfi, who was driving under the influence, struck and killed Yesenia Aguilar, who was 8 months pregnant in 2020. NBC Los Angeles' Hetty Chang reports.
Poor girl! Her birthday is mom’s date of death.
Didn't even think about that. That really got to me.😢
Terribly sad!
Really sad that she'll never know who her birth mother is. My thoughts, prayers & condolences goes out to that little girl & her family
Wow,how terrible… no one’s deserves that.
😢
THREE prior DUIs!!? She should’ve been locked up years ago 🤦🏽♀️
I hope they finally revoke her license.
What would that do? People drive all the time without a license...
yeah... how do you get THREE DUIs, then get in the car again ?
She should have been arrested years ago
@@daynasafranek7807 are you really gonna do anything you don’t need a license to drive hello do you know if people drive a license do you think doing that is just gonna make some forget how to drive criminals don’t care about laws and technically yeah you don’t need a license to drive and there was a time that we drove cars without having a license at all just saying
Why did it take 4 years for this drunk driver to come to justice?
I dunno...what could've been happening in the world 4 yrs ago🤔
The court case of Woodward who killed Blaze Bernstein has finally come to court. The murder happened in 2018. It takes a long time
You call that justice? 15 is low. Especially for someone who drinks and drive often.
@@almightytowerdiveking4636 she won't get out at 15 but when she does get out she'll be an old woman
@@sh0t0kanolder yet.
Drugs have sucked the life out of that woman! She looks destroyed for only being 44.
Yeah, sympathize with the drugged out drunk driver, not the pregnant woman that she killed.
@@davemathews7890Just so…
@@davemathews7890they hope the boarders all the time. Easily replaceable
THOSE were ALL HER CHOICES! STOP LYING!!!
@@zerotodona1495Try English, you DOPE!!!
She should have gotten LIFE!!! The whole time he talked she didn't even shed a tear, she just looked at him. (I was 😭sobbing and I didn't even know the story until I clicked on it) Then she boo-hoo cried reading her statement that wasn't even sincere! My prayers go out to that man, his daughter, and their family.
15 to life means parole starts at 15 years. In theory, her release may never happen, not sure what the maximum is though.
According to ABC7news, the perpetrator had 5 DUIs since 2008. She should never been allowed to drive. I feel if you get 3 DUIs you should lose the privilege to drive forever.
Did she have a license or was she driving without one? She may not have had driving privileges. I personally think that she should have gotten jail time or at least house arrest. She had already proven herself to be a danger to society.
That news coverage didn’t cover that information.
Who cares about the licenses at that point. Why wasn’t she in prison. People drive without licenses all the time.
Whoever didn’t catch it needs to be in prison with her!
@@weskelly4538it’s about the DUI…5 means she should have been in prison
😢 the parents looked so in love and excited for the baby in their photos
3 priors wtf, she should have been locked up
Totally, agree! Ridiculous! Cali is too soft on DUI 😤
Agreed
I remember this case..it was so heartbreaking. Lord, how it gave me joy that the baby survived!!!!❤❤ Now she is 4..
15 years for taking a young mother and her baby!!! The courts should be ashamed!!!! She deserves life especially for having 3 prior DUI convictions!!!
No, that's not how this went down.....This woman, in all likelihood, will end up doing closer to 30 years. It's not 15 years, it's 15 to life. And, what 15 to life means exactly is that her first shot at parole comes up in 15 years. And, even though it's possible that she gets released in 15 years, it is not very likely. Historically, request for parole in these kinds of crimes gets shot down the first few times. Plus, the victim's families always show and petition the parole boards to keep the offenders locked up. Yes, she will get out eventually, but until she has done at least 30 years in prison. And, who knows, it's 15 to life and if she is not a model prisoner, she could actually end up doing life.
@@RumbleFish69 All I can say is I sincerely hope you are correct.
@00pinkman00 I'm a retired attorney. So please believe when I say, I've been in front of enough parole boards to know how these things normally shake out. No one wants to release people who have not paid their societal debts back out early. If someone is going to get out, they need to first pay their debt. Believe that, my friend.
@@RumbleFish69 Thank you for your further explanation. I hope the parole boards sees at every step of their process that this family will never be whole again.
@@00pinkman00 Yes, you are absolutely correct. The destruction of this family is something that can never be fixed.
You know, there are never any guarantees with parole boards, but I can tell you that cases like this never rule in favor of the person who is in prison. This woman will be in jail for a long time.
No one, especially the media, ever really explains what 15 to life means. So, I am happy that I was able to clarify. Thank you for the exchange. 🙂
I'm wondering why technology to determine a driver's sobriety hasn't been installed in every car. Imagine a world with no more drunk driving related deaths. All we need are the right legislations to get something like mandatory sobriety detectors in every single vehicle, assuring a car doesn't turn on if you are under the influence.
They did a long time ago. But people felt it infringed on their rights.
Lord Jesus, the husband's speech is so heartbreaking...
She robbed a woman of the wonder that is motherhood. She robbed a child of her mother. She created a painful hole in all those who loved her ... one they'll never recover from. And all she gets is 15yrs to life?!? WTF?! She deserves minimum 25yrs W/OUT the possibility of parole.
The wonder of motherhood? Give me a break.
@@davemathews7890some love motherhood some don't. Just like some likes drugs some don't.
@@rokywangxu7134 I have no problem with motherhood. But after raising two children of my own, I would hesitate to call child-reading a "wonder." It's actually mostly a lot of hard work and watch out when your kids hit puberty.
@@davemathews7890 again as I said you don't like all this hard work but others would love this hardwork. Their is no judging here. Everyhuman being have their own traits.
@@rokywangxu7134 Some people are masochistic, that's a human trait. I love my kids but would I recommend having children? I'm really not sure. I do know that half the people who have kids aren't prepared for them and have no business having them.
That’s it? But that little girl has been sentenced for the rest of her life. Disgusting.
only 15 years??????
15 to life. at 15 yrs you get a chance of a parole hearing to be let go or not.
Crazy isn’t it She should get life forever behind bars
Even after THREE DUI'S her punishment is a measly 15 years, THEN parole. Absolute insanity.
She's white she gets away with leaving a child without her mother. She never got a chance to be a mother.
That’s the shocker! She should’ve already been in prison.
She’s not sorry
She’s sorry bc she got caught that it
That was one of the bravest best impact statements ive ever heard. Bless u and ur daughter!!! So sorry for ur alls loss...prayers
44 years old?? She looks like she’s 70!
Sorry this happened but please don't say she "ruined" her life, she's a miracle child
If you are an alcoholic and impaired, get someone to drive you..
What a slap in her wrist huh? 5th dui (and + ) and I don't see any remorse or sorry in her eyes. She is only sorry for being caught. I bet as soon as she get out she will kill again. God bless this beautiful little girl and hopefully her mommy will still protect her wherever she goes.
15 Yeras?!?!?!??! Thats It!!!!! White Privilege If I Ever Seen It..
Rest in Peace beautiful and precious Mommy.
3 previous DUI, why allowed to commit drive snd kill.
This is so fucked up😢😢😢😢
Three previous DUI convictions and she got only 15 years?
You've got a beautiful little girl your wife will always be with you both in spirit so sorry for your loss sending you and your little girl lots of love and hugs from Perth western Australia ❤❤❤
Fifteen years is ALL a life of this woman, wife and mother is worth? The penalty is not even close to the loss her family will continue to suffer.
15 years is that all !! Not fair she should never get out ughh so sorry for that family's loss to the victim rest in eternal peace 🙏
A devil has no heart.
Drug addiction is a serious disease. I feel sorry for both families. I pray that they will find away to extend forgiveness and find healing and comfort 🌻💕🙏
Yes addiction is a disease but as a recovering alcoholic/addict no she does not deserve sympathy. I chose every single time to drink or use drugs myself. No one held a gun to my head or hers. She as well as I was completely selfish when it came to others. I was lucky I didn't kill anyone. My oldest boy dont speak to me anymore. I am blessed my daughter and other son does. She killed a young woman and almost killed that baby as well. I had to lose everything to get clean and stay clean.
Especially frug addiction to alcohol. One of the most obvious drugs as anyone with real heart can see from this awful tragedy.
@@lynn55885sorry it didn't tag 😅
I have no sympathy for any drug addict or alcoholic. They were not held down and force fed the drugs/alcohol that put them on that path. They had choices, they could have said "NO". They must be made to pay when they kill someone because of their own choices. It seems like she had 3 previous times she could have redeemed herself and changed her life path but she chose not to.
@katbar6066 have some sympathy for those who started off innocently taking prescribed opioids and ended up addicted.. have some sympathy for those with the disease of addiction - yes it is a disease, and you can be predisposed to it genetically - bc not everyone is driving high, or hurting others, or stealing. Not all of us addicts are bad people who don't learn our lesson.
44??? 💀
Blanca.
I cried so very much.. God hold that family.🙏
So sorry for your loss!
Life sentence !!!
3 times ??? This is unreal
So sad for the family😢 but glad her daughter survived❤
The consequence is not that tough until you kill someone apparently because she had two or three prior DUIs.
From 2001 to 2020, the average jail time for DUI with fatalities. Men: 22,1 years, women: 8,5 years.
She should have got 45 years not 15 years it seems like a slap on the wrist search for the victim families.
Why only has 15 years in prison?
THIS IS EMBARRASSING!!!! Wow
Only 15 years?!?!?!
Only 15years? She still sounds like she’s on something. Also, dui need to have more extreme punishment. Too many murderers have had past duis until the dui that finally ended someone’s life. I hope a law can change and make their be a bigger punishment for drinking under any influence
Life for her she killed a Mother
I feel sorry for everyone in this situation.. God bless that little girl 💖
So sad such beautiful couple. So sorry for your loss.
No need to bring a young child into a courtroom!!!!
15 years she already served four years and she would be out on good behavior in six years
I remember seeing this on the news like it was just yesterday. So sad and still is 😢
She be out in 7 years why the little angel will have no mom 😢😢😢
Three previous dui’? Wat happened to the three strikes rule? Just for her to go out and kill someone?
6 months sober tomorrow.
There's help. Don't be afraid to ask.
Uh she had dui conviction why is she driving then ,
What a beautiful family so sad
I'm so sorry for your loss
My bro in law was crippled for life by a drunk driver who had 8 prior convictions. The system is broken.
How awful and preventable.
She was sorry that she'll be locked and no chance of drinking, doing drugs
My condolences to your family. Your daughter s birthday is right next to mines. Praying for strength
What a mess
Wow 15 years 😢only for killing a pregnant woman .
I pray my rosary every day for those affected by violent crime. Now, sadly, I have a face to go with that prayer. It's not fair for this sweet little girl to be without her mother.
Whats the incentive to plead guilty if you still get the maximum sentence
This is not fair very sad situation. We have to have justice for this family
How is 15 years the max sentence? 3 previous DUIs? The state failed this family.
She gets a short sentence of 15 years for committing a crime, while the mom AND the family gets LIFE for committing no crime....
Three previous DUI convictions, l guess she didn’t care, because she thought she would get by again.
Damn shes 44? She looks 60! My geart goes out to the woman that died, especially her husband and daughter. 😢
Tragic. So sad 😰😰😰🙏🙏🙏
I’m crying!😭😭😭
Should be 25 to 30 years
Agree
That cuz she white but if she was Hispanic or black maybe 55 years to life or death penalty
Beautiful family. They are strong. That father is going to move forward and do great things.
Only 15 years ?!!!! 🤬😡
May she rest in Peace. And may God protect the Little girl and her Daddy.
She's crying for herself
Life in prison not 15 years 😡
Did you hear that 4. DUI. That needs to be changed to mandatory on your second DUI you’re doing time. And you can never ever get a drivers license in any state in the United States. Think about it. This has to stop.
Unfortunately people will still drive without a license
Only 15?
3 PREVIOUS CONVICTIONS
what is wrong with tribunals?
3 previous convictions? Why not jail from the start?
ONLY FIFTEEN!?!?!?!?😢😠😡
She needs to be locked up for life 15 yrs are u serious
This had me tear up
Notwithstanding the sadness that the little girl will bear for the rest of her life, but let’s also remember and focus on her father too, who has to raise her and provide the extra love without his beloved wife. The tragedy of losing his wife and the challenge of raising his daughter by himself. What a tragedy for him too.
My dad has 5 DUI and nothing gets done by the justice system. I fear one day he’s going to do the same, we need better laws this world is such crap it’s sad:( they need to be behind bars after the first one 😭
😭 😭 I cried so much listening to this wonderful great man now a widower raising a child. I’m praying for you my brother hold on to our Lord with our beautiful Little Rose. Your daughter is a heavenly blessing 🥰🙏👏May the Lord be with all your family.
😢no mom
Sad
This is absolutely NOT justice!! With her obvious past DUI behavior she should have received a much stricter sentence!! Our justice system is severely broken.
🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
I’M GLAD SHE GOT TO SEE THAT PRECIOUS & BEAUTIFUL LITTLE GIRL WHO LOOKS JUST LIKE HER MOMMY & WHO’S LIFE SHE ALMOST TOOK,
THEY WERE ONLY OUT ON AN EVENING STROLL, SO INNOCENT, MINDING THEIR OWN BUSINESS. IN THOSE PICTURES THEY LOOK SO IN LOVE & SO READY TO BE A FAMILY, IT’S JUST HEARTBREAKING 💔
PEOPLE, FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DO. . . IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY LEARNT PLEASE LET THIS BE A LESSON,
DON’T DRINK OR TAKE DRUGS & DRIVE.
DON’T TAKE & RUIN LIVES, INC. YR OWN.
NOTHING GOOD EVER COMES FROM IT.
she looks so much like her mother god bless that little lady
Rest in peace Yesenia💓🕊🍃✨️✝️✨️We love you!
Prayers for the family🙏💓.
If you committ a dui, your car should automatically be revoked until you become sober
should be life imprisonment. she's a repeat offender
I think that law should be updated personally to 25 years for a DUI death. We need to take a good hard look and start making some hard choices. There is no reason with the amount of transportation available through rideshare.
😭😭😭😭
One day all cars will have breathalyzer
guess three strikes only apply to "them" not her
The system is a joke and clearly if she got out she more than likely do it again!!
Crocodile 🐊 tears 😭
WTF happened the other three times that didn't get this woman scared straight?! Change should never have to come after a tragedy.
What? 15 years only
