He's more of a Wing back than a Left Back Apparently he started out as a forward in Brazil probably at youth level. When he was at Inter Milan he was used as a Winger at times which didn't suit him as he was caught out defensively a lot.
If i were to put best all time left backs R.carlos = Recovery tackles Marcelo = Creative Ashley Cole = Support Maldini = Defense It depends on your all time formation. For me, Roberto Carlos is my number 1 pick because my all time 11 is stack with creative players
