I am legally blind and I dealt with discrimination and harassment at work. While I was stuck at what was a dead end job, I was suing the shit out of my employer. I was seething with anger and frustration. This song helped me get through the fight. I won and heads rolled as a result. Justice prevailed and now I have a career I always wanted.

Wow, same here. I sued my former employer (I had a semi Government job, examining ppl on sick leave. (My office had house visitors, doctors and a simple lab to examen the ppl who called in sick/not being able to go to work and we had to see/examen if their sickness was true or false (lazy day/week)
After 15 years a reorganization started, my smaller office closed down, so we all moved to the bigger one in our province. Later, 3 departments had to become 1 (new laws for sick leave) and many employees had to go. My close colleges and me from the former smaller office all had to go, despite that our smaller office was one of the best in my country at our job. The new colleges from the 3 departments of our big office were all friends, definitely NOT the best at their job, knew nothing about my job (medical) and my colleges and I had to teach them everything before we all would be fired.
I was never late, did the best job, was never on sick leave, always helped (lazy) colleges etc etc, I never had a complaint from bosses/colleges/patients and I had to go in 1 or 2 years? OFCOURSE I didn't agree with that.
I sued them for being dishonest, not following the rule age x employment years and how we were functioning in our job. I functioned perfectly, had NEVER a complaint. They kept their office friends instead!! Our entire smaller office employees had to go, tsssss.
Ofcourse I won the lawsuit!! Employer had to pay me big money because I didn't want to stay at that (once so great a very well payed) job. Instead of stayiing I started my own business. Most funny part is that they wanted to help me doing that. (Education payment etc) I REFUSED!!! A CLEAN BREAK UP IS WHAT I WANTED. I didn't want to say "thank you" for their help with starting my own business! I already started my business before I officially fired lol because I didn't need education.

Honestly, their last few albums have had some fantastically motivating songs with great lyrics. Songs that aren't just about chaos and madness like their first several albums. Just to name a few, some of their more recent ones that have become among my favorites are The Light, You're Mine, and Are You Ready?.
The songs they’ve produced over the years have really become sensational. They definitely have become my favorite band of late. Songs of Strength and Motivators are what get me going. Just turned 33 as well lol.
Turning 32 this November and this song has me pumped up into standing up against the lies deceit and tyranny that we've been experiencing the last several months.

i was in 7th grade when indestructible came out. i didn't have internet at the time so i had a casset tapes of music ripped from the radio. it was the first album i ever bought. the second was nightmare by avenged seven fold. both bands are my top musical goto's when i just want to jam out.
I totally feel this. I was victimized I'm not a fucking victim. You might have put the demons in my head, but you created a beast. You bastards will never control me. It's my life and I will take it back, and when I'm done ill help others that are broken and abused. Thankyou David Draiman for writing these empowering songs and helping me get my strength back. We really aren't alone.

Oh god please don't add the over-the-top angsty edge to this. I love metal, nu metal, punk rock and a lot of early 2000s music, but everyone nowadays seems to hate it because of the whole edgy emo, attitude, Affliction, Tapout, etc. culture that came along with it. Can we just get rid of that part? Divest the good 2000s music of its social shell? Cuz atm the only alternative seems to be a flashy, high-end social movement centered around today's bs love songs and pop, and I don't want that.

You can't judge any song till you're atleast hearing thru some beats or similar. Theres too much being tweaked in the small areas of songs these days. Theres a reason digital audio quality and technology is chosen now to the point it's the baseline in recording audio tracks

I love that they’re coming back. Yet something feels so underwhelming about this song. It doesn’t feel as heavy anymore. The lyrics are kinda subpar, and this song in particular feels upbeat and optimistic.
According to the radio station I listen to they met with so much overwhelming success from Sound of Silence that they altered their sound a bit because of it.
I have to disagree with you, respectfully of course. I find the tone to be heavy. The message is different from what they used to be; they've gone from purely psychotic in the beginning to political in the middle and have recently developed a motivational feel as of recent. Do any of those hint on what you're feeling about this song or am I missing you completely?
Richard Terry I find your argument compelling, fellow Mark fan. See, the thing is, I was more of a fan of the old Disturbed. The first two albums were, as their name suggests, disturbing, and really brought justice to what you’d expect from them. The two albums after that were also really good. Yes their tone wasn’t the same, but at that point they were still heavy and dark (10,000 Fists is one example of their prime).
Then Immortalized came out. I listened to a few of the songs from that album, and I wasn’t pleased, nor disappointed. It just seemed lackluster. I listened to The Light, and completely forgot I wasn’t listening to a Christian band (which I have nothing against). Sorry if this is too long to read.

I remember that a similar change happened with Metallica and their Load and Reload albums; the music had changed and some fans didn't like it. Although I enjoy Immortalized, you're right: They changed fast. Faster than I realized in fact. I hadn't thought of Christian band, but that describes the feel of The Light succinctly. Still... I wonder if Dan Donegan has given up playing guitar solos at all. I miss what he did in Another Way To Die, Perfect Insanity, Inside The Fire and Stricken. Come on, Dan, you're better than a lot of guitatists that play solos! Show some of your class in that direction! You're such a double powerhouse with Dave, such a great guitar-voice combo! But without solos it doesn't sound the same! In comparison - Trivium who Dave also works with have two lead guitarists, so guitar solos are not dead and you know it!
