I found this trying to find #selfie to see what everyone was bitching about, and I was like, "This is catchy, what's so bad about it?" Then I realized this wasn't the right song and now I'm sad this isn't popular and the other song is
sa1uk123 *her* but thanks for the defense. Btw, I'm not knocking on the instrumentals. I'm knocking on the fact that "Selfie, Selfie, let me take a Selfie." is not even singing or rapping.
I like the beat, and she's not singing about how pretty she is, she's singing about how we fabricate our lives for others through photography and online profiling.
Hear hear. It’s great satire of vanity and how people pour the gravest importance into the most trivial things. It’s also just a great post-breakup song in how the protagonist is alone and in control of every aspect of her photo shoot yet is still utterly powerless in her mind.
Hiranya J Well, it's a song about why some girls take Selfies and post them in the hope of getting compliments which in turn would make them feel better about themselves and raise their self-esteem a bit. :P
I know this song may seem stupid at first, it did to me like who makes a song about selfies but It actually has a good meaning, "selfies; the life we want to show you" it's about how people only put up pictures of the way they want to be perceived on the internet. No one shares the bad things about their lives.
Saw Nina in NYC's Central Park performing at the NYRR Scotland Run this morning...she's not just a pretty face, but a legit talent...plays good rhythm guitar, her voice has great range and resonance, her songs aren't just pop and she has real stage presence...watch out for this one...she's making it big...
Was in a hospital bed(2014) back then when it came out, twaz such a hit that raised my recovery bar! Since then had forgotten about it only just rememberedit this morning. Let the flash lights on
Ugh... People hating on the song, but they don't understand the meaning of it. Shes taking selfies because she's going through a bad time and just wants someone to notice her and tell her, "Hey, you're pretty." I admit it isn't a 5-star classic, but it's a pretty good song with a good meaning behind it. I know everyone has their own opinion, but I just wish people would use their brains as well while making one.
There is a deeper meaning to this song. It's not really just about selfies. The following is what she wrote to explain "Selfies" on Tumblr. I wrote this track during the recent Cats & Carbonara tour with my bassist when we were discussing how when people feel a bit low about themselves they often take pictures of them looking happy, feeling good, out with friends or doing cool things. Then posting them online to perhaps make themselves feel better or sometimes to try and make the person that’s let them down know what they are missing. I’ll put my hands up and say I’ve done it myself. Some people would call it attention seeking and immature, others would say what’s the harm in trying to feel good about yourself and for most of us it’s perhaps just a bit of innocent fun. It’s something I’m noticing people doing more and more and all of a sudden ‘selfies’ has exploded in to this word that everyone uses and talks about. I guess social networks have made it easy for us to express ourselves and give us the ability to live our lives through a kind of ‘fake reality’. A lot of us only put up what we want to show everyone, meaning people don’t see the not so great parts of our lives too. I think what i’m trying to get across in this song and video is that even though some people’s lives seem great on the internet, we are all human at the end of the day and nobody’s life is perfect. Selfies for me most of the time are just a bit of fun and I hope that’s reflected in the video, hope it makes you smile :)
It's a good song but I feel that she has strayed into more commercial pop territory compared to where she started. Don't get me wrong this is a great song but having heard her music from the very start I feel slightly sad because it was so original and authentic in the beginning but now, not so much....
I saw the new Fiat car ad which played this song and figured it was a new track so I came here to listen in full. I was surprised this is from 2013 and I've never heard of Nina Nesbitt before!
everybody is listening to the other selfie song but i just say get of that and lisenten to the nina nestbitt one i love u and i love ur songs this is one of my favs
the people commenting on here complaining that it's a song about selfies obviously don't know the actual meaning of the song is deeper than just taking seflies

does the food displayed in the video have any correlation to the song or not? first, she took a picture of a fish meal from the book, so i thought that it symbolized that we don´t want to let people know what ACTUALLY we eat (like, especially if we claim to be on a diet, but in fact order a pizza) but than they actually did took pictures with them eating a pizza, so i was lost then...
She's pretending to be posh with the pic from the book. Then she takes pics of her and her mates eating pizza- that's just bragging that she's having a good time with them.
I still remember Nina posting her youtube videos covering songs in random places, like singing The A Team at a train station for example. I no longer see Nina as a girl anymore, I now see her as a beautiful and talent woman.
You know how Ed Sheeran and Nina Nesbitt dated back in like 2011 did he write the song "nina" about her or is it just a coincident or did he just feel like it? lol
I know girls who take picture of theirselves looking happy and having a great time, when the reality of their lives is that they are feeling misserable, but they like the attention they get when people like their pictures. Ur so right
it's popular enough to play at my work a couple times a week. Hah.
Maybe if she swung around naked on a wrecking ball, this would have been popular
Riyaan Abrahams xDDD
Riyaan Abrahams :D
This song is way better than the other Selfie song. That one is trash. This one is amazing!
Zek Domgjoni His trash? Where?
sa1uk123 *her* but thanks for the defense. Btw, I'm not knocking on the instrumentals. I'm knocking on the fact that "Selfie, Selfie, let me take a Selfie." is not even singing or rapping.
I agree, the song ##SELFIE, is terrible!
Jack F Yeah that song is definitely not one I wish to ever hear again. Ever.
omg yas
I like the beat, and she's not singing about how pretty she is, she's singing about how we fabricate our lives for others through photography and online profiling.
Raffalos She doesnt need to sing about how pretty she is... Wow
Hear hear. It’s great satire of vanity and how people pour the gravest importance into the most trivial things. It’s also just a great post-breakup song in how the protagonist is alone and in control of every aspect of her photo shoot yet is still utterly powerless in her mind.
I so thought I would hate a song called Selfie, but this surprised me. I really like it.
they say never judge a book by its cover
Quincy Kwok never was more right than now

:)
You think this I meaningful? Jesus Christ you should listen some of the metal or rock n roll, that's meaningful
This song is my honest guilty pleasure
Why would feel guilty for this? Nina is a truly great artist...
She is, but the guilt comes because it is a song about selfies- which personally, I dislike haha xx
Hiranya J Well, it's a song about why some girls take Selfies and post them in the hope of getting compliments which in turn would make them feel better about themselves and raise their self-esteem a bit. :P
Ben Hobson true true

lmao
That's politically incorrect.. some of us have a lisp and find your comment offensive.. I am going to write a banner in protest 😂
She's a good artist. I'm still hoping that she'll recognize as one. And not as Ed Sheeran's Ex- girlfriend.
Amen.

People who don't understand the song... This is sarcasm 100%
I know this song may seem stupid at first, it did to me like who makes a song about selfies but It actually has a good meaning, "selfies; the life we want to show you" it's about how people only put up pictures of the way they want to be perceived on the internet. The girl has a talent. :)

And to think all she had to do was post a selfie of her on the set of her new music video to drive her ex mad. lol
So pumped for Peroxide! It's hard to believe I'm the same age as her she's so talented.
Was in a hospital bed(2014) back then when it came out, twaz such a hit that raised my recovery bar! Since then had forgotten about it only just rememberedit this morning. Let the flash lights on

She should be more popular!! This is good!
Why only 360,000 views?
It's a good song but I feel that she has strayed into more commercial pop territory compared to where she started. That moment when you liked this video before everyone saw Miley cyrus, Katy perry and Lorde add it to a playlist lol....
does the food displayed in the video have any correlation to the song or not?

Not only a great song but a timely piece .. #selfies by the ever talented Nina Nesbitt .. #ninagram lol ..
I still remember Nina posting her youtube videos covering songs in random places, like singing The A Team at a train station for example. I no longer see Nina as a girl anymore, I now see her as a beautiful and talent woman.
It's a shame her album isn't on the U.S. iTunes Store or I'd totally buy it. Nina is so talented!
