I just got mine today. It's a nice glass mount. Unlike some general dash/glass mounts, this one will not stick to textured dash board at all. I'll try it out this coming week to see how it works out. Thanks!
The RAM mount is the best cell phone mount I have ever used. Vortex, I would love to see a video on how to update the firmware on my Escort Max 360, or any Escort radar at that.
98% of car phone holders are complete garbage accept this Ram X Grip. I’ve wasted so much money on phone holders. The X Grip with a the heavy duty suction cup is the best one I’ve ever used. It’s best to have a suction cup lind because you can put it right in front of you so you don’t have to take your eyes off the road to look at the navigation, it’s so so much safer. The X Grip is expensive but if you buy every other phone holder like I have you actually save money on the X Grip because it actually works. Phone holders are not one of those things you want to cheap out on because it will definitely show in anger and frustration.
I saw that mount when watching a radar detector video and was intrigued by it since It looked cool and I need one so found it and bought it on amazon without having known it was a Ram mount item.
I need a good mount to hold my phone while at the track to record video. I haven't figured out when to mount it yet tho. Either window or dash. Do have a good recommendation for a suction cup dash mount?
not to deviate from the radar topic too much, but how about doing a mirror mount review like blend mount, performance pkge and others. your reviews are spot on, thanks for your work!!
Hi, there are cheaper alternatives to the RAM X-Grip ? I have a zuk z1 smartphone, it's 5.5 inches, I have to fix the smartphone on the dashboard, what support do I recommend ? Just suckle, I have discarded the magnetic media, I do not like it.
Oh there's zillions and zillions of different mounts out there that you can check out online. I don't test lots of those and don't have any recommendations. This is simply one that I happened to be using for a while.
Can you run Escort live with the phone horizontal or do you have to have it vertical? I have noticed in many of your videos that you run it vertical. The reason that I ask is because I just ordered the cable for my Magnum and plan on using Escort Live but have not used it yet. what position do you like better?
+Joseph Farina You can run it horizontally or vertically. Sometimes some formatting things are weird horizontally, but I prefer that because it blocks less of my vision when it's sitting lower like that.
Thanks man. I just bought it on Amazon. Hopefully it is awesome. It looks like it could hold pretty much anything. I am going to have my phone hooked up when using GPS and I will definitely use it for Escort Live as well
Congrats! Yeah Live works pretty well in the background on the iPhone so you can run that plus Google Maps or Waze in the foreground and it should work out nicely. :)
Brandon Krieger I find that the suction can come loose in cold and I high heat times. I use 2 suction mounts, 3 ram-mount arms and a ram-mount T with three ball ends, plus a bendable wire thing to secure it to the rear view mirror. That way if it comes off ( and it has ) it won’t fall on the dash or floor. I use my phone as a dash cam with an App.
Hey Vertex. Looks like you will be on the market for new Mount soon... lol... check this out Scosche Magic Mount. Just got one and it works extremely well. I've got short version which been 3M taped to dash.
+psvmr007 lol... It's a great mount." (fall) "The suction cup isn't holding as well at it used to." (fall) :D Yeah I'm always looking at different mounts. Just got a Kuda in the mail today for my iPhone to replace my ProClip. Might be fun to check out what else is available and to see if there's something better. I'll definitely check the Magic Mount out too. This looks interesting...
I'm not sure what type of car you got, but if you get a Chinese android head unit you can get rid of that stupid mount. I have one made by Joying and it works great with yav1 and waze.

Wet the suction cup before placing on window. This will keep it in place for a very long time.

+Carr Freeman Download software, plug detector into computer, hit update button. I'll do a video next time a software update is issued.
what is the rubber gasket thing for? That everybody complains is always ripping? I don't even see you using it.

Did you have to take your phone case off to use the ram phone holder?

+Scott S. Actually working on it as we speak. Check out my Instagram. ;) instagram.com/vortexradar/
+Scott S. Here ya go. The review is up! www.vortexradar.com/2015/12/blendmount-review/ I'll be working on the video version next.
Suggest a phone holder for me to use for recording my street tours. I'm looking for a holder just to hold the phone for street view recording.
Vortex , you won't be needing a new mount. Ram has lifetime warranty on their products, you should be able to have it replaced.
+pNoid2k1 Really? Sweet! I'm totally gonna do that then. Thanks! :D :D

Thank you for having responded to me, what support model do you currently use ?
There's a company called ibolt that's pretty good!
@@jacksonwhittier3646 Okay thanks

Does the suction work in the cold or do you find it keeps falling off?

@@akbychoice Which app? sounds like a good idea
Revolutionary (aka JustSomeGuy) it’s simply called “ Dash Cam”
I wanted to like the Ram mount but the phone would shift too much when it was in the holder.
Mine has never moved you must of had a small phone

RAM Mounts is coming out with a Wireless and Waterproof version www.rammount.com/part/RAM-B-166-UN12W
That's awesome, but also crazy expensive...
This video just cost the loss of one customer for Ram phone mounts.. No suction, no sale.. ciao..and hey,... thanks..
Your suction cup is dirty.
Holder is cool.Except your reply.

I drive a golf gti. That thing looks like it was made to go in a tank. Lol.
How about the fact that the suction cup doesn't even work
Dan Klesh except it goes.
