Fleetwood Mac ~ Albatross (1968)

- This beautiful instrumental by "Fleetwood Mac" was released in 1968, and i believe it made number 1 here in the UK charts. Making this video gave me once again the opportunity to combine my first love of nature and music together, and i think it goes really well together with this tune. Anyone who may be interested , The Albatrosses are among the largest of flying birds, and the great albatrosses have one of the largest wingspans of any birds, reaching up to 12 feet.
This beautiful song was played last year at my son's funeral. Niel passed away at 22 years. Hit by a car. He liked this song so much. I hope he is as free as the Albatros just floating in the air. I miss him so much ...
Sorry for your loss nathalie, sometimes all you can say is life can be really, really shit.
My heartfelt sympathies no parent should have to endure that pain
Just not fair Nathalie . . . so sorry.
So sad - no parent should have to experience what you're going through
Sorry for your loss stay strong
52 years on and music still as fresh as a bell. What a guitarist. RIP Peter
Yes, clear as a daisy too!
If you're reminiscing and you're a resident in a nursing home, it sounds fresh, lol.
Great guitarist??? Ffs he plays about 3 notes in this crap song.
@@vincentfallon2624 ...I agree, any random customer at Guitar Center can play this song without effort, lol.
@@vincentfallon2624 It is not about the number of notes or the speed, but the feeling. One shouldn't judge from one song. Peter Green influenced many other guitarists and his playing and writing skills are widely acknowledged in the music industry.
I’m a huge metal head and fan of hard rock. Always have been. But when I heard this song for the first time, I almost shed a tear. It’s so powerful, even without words. One of the most beautiful tunes to ever exist.
What about albatross by corrosion of conformity. If you like hard rock and metal this would fit well I think
In 1970 my family and I emigrated to Australia from England by ship. I remember this tune playing on the ship Jukebox as we left Southampton. Our trip took us around Africa as the Suez canal was closed at that time. We were fortunate enough to see albatross as we rounded the Cape of Good Hope heading towards the Indian Ocean. An unforgettable experience of which this magical classic reminds me each time I listen.
Sounds like the trip of a lifetime
My half brother made the same journey in 1969 with his wife and 2 small children. They still live in Australia..
What a lovely story
How long was this trip or are you still on it ?
This is soo dreamy.
You can see yourself as the albatross flying effortlessly across the sky.
Of the most beautiful songs Rest in Peace and play in Heaven Mr Green !!!
My son passed away this year and I am so sad. I feel lost without my baby. When I play this song it reminds me of him saying, Mama what are you listening to.” He learned to appreciate the sounds of great music.
I’m very touched by your post. I wish you the very best. I could not bear it…. No release. Unforgiving reality. I am lost for words of condolence…
May he rest in peace and may you find solace in the music.
My sincere condolences on your loss. May he rest in peace. xx
I know the very deep pain to lose a child ,I am so sorry and I send you much courage to this journey that will be till you meet again 💔
I am so sorry for you and we know that the pain will last till our last breath, wish you strength 🙏
Nowdays, nobody can dream a song like this, let alone record something like this. This is a timeless masterpiece. Peter Green was a genius.
That is amazing. God bless you

Played at my wife funeral 6 weeks ago beautiful Love you Jan xxxxx
The first time I ever heard this ( as a child) I was totally
mesmerised by the sheer beauty of it and today all these years later I
still am .......thank you Peter Green RIP.
This takes me back to 1969,when my older brothers were alive and we would play 'albatross' and talk about times past and now they have gone beyond the sunset and I am left with the memory.oh to have wings that would take me back to those beautiful days
What is it with Tararuians ( is that a thing? ) and Fleetwood? Pahiatua/Ballance boy here..
Beautiful song, played at My Moms funeral, one of her favourites, perfect way to say goodbye, still listen to it even now.
RIP the two members of Fleetwood Mac
Peter Green (October 29, 1946 - July 25, 2020), aged 73
Danny Kirwan (May 13, 1950 - June 8, 2018), aged 68
You both will always be remembered as legends.
Picture this. One of those Thames riverboat discos back in the 70s. Everyone just chilling at the end. All the lights along the embankment twinkling and the boat rocking up and down in time with this music. Sublime and one of those memories still with me as I apporoach my 80th year.
Came here to pay one final tribute to one of the best guitar players in history.
Rest in peace, Peter. Thank you for your music.
This is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever, it says so much without a single word.
It's a perfect song to slow down, sit back ,relax & leave your worries behind you...🤗⛱️🌅😎
Loved this❤ was 16yrs when I heard it way back in New Zealand and now I’m 66yrs old❤❤❤❤
One of my late wife`s favourites She would listen to it for ages. Just found it again
sat listening with tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. How I miss those happier days....
That is what Jim Morrison meant when he sang "The Music is your Special Friend"...
Great piece of music keep going martin
So sad for your loss, r3member the happy times.
Keep going brother
so sorry that happened to you, keep your chin up so she can see your smile from Heaven, yes?
Love this piece of music as did my husband, so the family have decided to ply this at his funeral later this week. ❤️
My sympathy! We´re palying it this friday for the same reason (funeral of a friend),,,
So sorry for your loss ❤️
This was my mums favourite piece of music all her life. It was played as we carried her out of the church at her funeral. So beautiful and haunting. It laid her to rest. With such dignity. 🙏
In 1999 i was travelling in New Zealand i got a job with a scaffolding company, my first day i was tasked with working with this Giant Maori fellow whom i'd never met before, we went along to this building site he pulled out a big fat spliff, as we smoked it we got more and more stoned ..nay paralyzed by its effect...then sitting in our lorry windows up we watched this hapless carpenter carrying a big pile of wood on his shoulder walk straight into a wall instead of the door he was aiming for, he fell over on his arse dropping everything, me and this Maori dude laughed until tears streamed down our faces and the lorry was rocking ...this song began the moment it all happened, i'm still in touch with this dude today,.. needless to say the song brings back memories.
😂
@@gerrybuckley7166 was it you the dude that hit the wall 🙄? 😂😂😂

Still the best. Ever and always. Thank you guys. Gorgeous. When I listen to this, 45 years drops off my account and I'm a student again. So lovely, so peaceful, so restful to a bruised but still adventurous soul. D
I was born in 72 and found myself googling Fleetwood Mac songs and wanting to know how this one went, definitely sounds familiar ( I heard it was their first hit? ) I wonder if singing will be in this song…
A few days ago, my father asked me in the hospital to change the ringtone on his phone. He wanted an albatross. He died today. This song will live with him forever. I love you daddy💙
Just found this beautiful piece of music . And found your sad comment. I'm so sorry for your loss. 😢 your dad is flying high too, and is forever free . 🫶.

RIP Mr. Green, and thank you for all the wonderful music. I have always envied great musicians, because they never really die.
My dad asked for this to be played at his funeral, and that it was..
R.i.P dad .. miss you
This song will forever be linked to this time in my life. Walking up to the tall brick hospital, red and yellow leaves falling outside in the cool air, finding my uncles room and sitting beside his bed while he’s in his coma. 78 years old, battled cancer for last 10 years. He looked so peaceful and it was so tranquil in his room at 8am with the sun barely coming up. The doctors said he can still hear us, but it’s close. I stared at him for 2 hours, occasionally saying something to him, looking at his bracelet with the picture a few months ago from his last visit, to the image now is totally different. He looks so fragile now. Just looking at him knowing his death is close, made me think a lot about my own life and how fast it’s going. Found this song the next day on Spotify, listening to 60s classics. Toughest man I’ve ever seen. Rest easy uncle Butch. ❤
One of my favourites of all time. RIP Peter Green. Thank you for the beautiful gift of music that you brought to the world. We are sorry, Please forgive us, We love you, Thank you.

Beautiful piece of music played at my husbands funeral about 16 months ago
That's when I lost my husband as well.
It's always with a heavy heart to announce one of the greatest guitarists ever has passed away " peacefully" in his sleep age 73, Peter Greene co founder of Fleetwood Mac an incredible guitarist not without problems in the music world like most musicians of his era and age, taken and flying high with a gentle thermal in the blue skies with a beautiful albatross forever to be remembered for astonishing guitar playing and so much more before taking a seat on the back burner and trying to regain and enjoy life and music again with the splinter group....god bless Peter Greene and thank you for the Incredible music and contribution in the industry RIP.

This song takes me back to cape town 1992. The brass bell pub by the sea. We had a local band that did an excellent cover of this. I remember sitting listening on a Saturday afternoon with the waves crashing round me .
passed through there on my way to Australia in 1972, great view from table top mountain with scary ride up in cable car due to high winds
A TRUE Masterpiece!!!! Simply BRILLIANT!!!! Why are there not more great instrumental songs like this??
Bought this record when I was 18yo, in 1968. I now listen to it in MP3 format, still great.
Always liked this, never get tired of listening too it, and I am now 60, great piece ❤🙂
One of my earliest memories of music was hearing this song. Still stops me in my tracks. RIP Peter Green.
I remember as a toddler being woken up with this over the tannoy at butlins camp for the breakfast call thinking it was the most beautiful sound in the world. took me years to find out what it was.
My Grandma heard each day Radio and turned up the Volume when they played this ❤she lifts me up and cuddled me slowdance 45 years later and it made me feel safe and warm for Heart and Soul ❤❤❤
When my father died my mum couldn’t sleep with out this piece on repeat , so I tape it for and hour a half so she could fall asleep to it , and it worked ,great piece of music , I will be listening and my grand kids 🙏💞🌏🫱🏾🫲🏼✊🏼🤝🏾🙏🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊✊🏿💃🏼🤸🏻🏃♂️🏃🏃🏽♀️➡️🕺🏼🏃🏻♀️➡️

Magnificent piece of composition . This was real stuff not what we hear today . Hard work has a strong shelf life and stays for ages to come . This is one of them. I miss my dad when I listen to this he loved it and vinyls were the days
Superbly delicate guitar work..... the legendary Fleetwood Mac, as it was in 1968...
Played at my Husbands Funeral .He would watch Albatross as a Ships Mate on his Watch on the coast of NZ.
RIP Peter and thank you for your beautiful music.
Well said. Was fortunate to see him supporting BB King in Newcastle many years ago. Two legends now departed.
Just heard of the legendary Peter Green’s passing.. 😓. So loved this record i was only 15 and my young brother broke it it Ooh I was so sad.... But I can play now whenever now thanks to UA-cam .... RIP 🥰
This SO beautiful. Peter Green was an underappreciated guitar player and composer. Hardly ANYONE I know realizes he wrote Black Magic Woman NOT Santana. This instrumental shows his superb flair for melody and solos. RIP.
A song for all time. It will never age.

Today I heard this song for the first time. I was driving. Had to hold on to the wheel so my soul didn't leave my body.
I literally had to pull over the first time I heard this in the local college radio station. Just sat there with my jaw open. Especially once I heard it was Fleetwood Mac.
