The Kindness project looks great with the purple mat. I really like the primer snippet. It fits my decor. I hope it comes available. Enjoy getting ready for all your teaching adventures. Take care of yourself - Breathe and relax!
Jean...I'm a librarian popping in to say that many public libraries have free or greatly reduced cost for printing, and helpful librarians who could help stitchers find the website and print the pattern.
Love the purple addition!!! We always played the alphabet game too and I’m inspired to do your ABC’s when you have it charted! My dad always made the ice cream also, cranking away.
Thank you Jean for another awesome video…that was a deep list, but enjoyable chat on lots of good things…America, Land We Love SAL..is a perfect stitch for right now and ZOOM requires certain rules…your Kindness redo is beautifully framed now…I had not thought of Fray Check to edge ground cloth…I will put it on my JoAnn’s shopping list…I love the ABC games my kids played on the road trips…lots of road trips…I do appreciate your time in making it PDF for our use and gifts to each child…safe travels…wishing you much joy…happy stitching/designing Jean❤️❤️
Your Kindness piece really popped with that purple mat. So good to see your alphabet piece so clean again. It's stunning. Have fun in your travels and stay safe Jean ❤
I really like the purple mat, it made all the difference with your piece! Beautiful-Great choice. I love the alphabet stitch will be excited to get it! Thank you for giving us different designs outside the "in" designs. I believe most stitching is timeless no matter.
The kindness piece is lovely and the purple mat truly makes it pop. Your framing explanation was very useful also. I have a piece my mother started and I finished. I found a nice frame for it but it was much larger than the piece so being able to do something like that around the piece will be very useful.
What a wonderful stitch and memories with your children. I to remember road trips without electronics and how we really viewed the world outside of the car and the memories of the games we played and really communicated with our family. THANK YOU!
Loved the story of you and your daughters coming up for the design for that piece. Very sweet! Personally, I don't do anything to my edges. I just make sure they are all even and then fraying is never an issue.
Jean you are so right about hand churned ice cream..haven't had any of that in years. That sampler speaks to this * older lady* , so many items I remember well. Can't wait for you to have this in your shop! Happy stitching
It looks amazing, I was really surprised how clean it was...I have one I just coffee and tea dyed, because it was hopeless...thanks for sharing...please be safe out there...our numbers here in TN are crazy scary...take care
I think this cut off early.....but I did enjoy your mention of Rock Home Gardens. We went there several times back then....and one of the times was for a Cross Stitch event. I didn't take any classes but did enjoy seeing the exhibits and doing some shopping.
You’re killing me! Should not commit to another SAL BUT if I have the fabric on hand, I will. It’s a very doable weekly stitch. It’s a stitch that’s always been in the back of my mind.
If you don't have zig zag stitch on your sewing machine - bias binding sewn of the raw edges works well - use a long stitch and it will be easy to unpick. Crease the bias around the corners.
I feel your joy over the reframing of Kindness. We know when there is something not quite right, and what a relief that you were able to put your finger on it! It looks fab. And such a lovely story behing your alphabet sampler, a lot of life tied up in that, I can understand why it is one of your favourites. Thank you again for your videos Jean
A super episode Jean. I’m glad you mentioned Fray Check. I’ve used it for years. The extra mat on Kindness makes an incredible difference. The purple was definitely the way to go. Take care. Don’t wear yourself out.
Jean!!!!! I am SO looking forward to stitching your Alphabet chart! We used to play the same game with the kiddos but we went to the refrigerator instead. I would love to be involved in your AMERICA SAL but am up to my elbows in knitting Christmas gifts so will have to pass. I’m a new subscriber and I am thoroughly enjoying your videos. Many, many thanks....Beverly
Very much looking forward to stitching AMERICA! So beautiful! Yes please, I’m excited that you are going to redo do the piece from your car trip! I love that. Please let us know when that is available! I loved the story as well! Your piece you had reframed turned out amazing! Well worth the $18.00! Stay well!💗
Love your alphabet stitch. We just played a version of the alphabet game with our granddaughter on a trip to visit her great grandmother. For us it was always finding a word on signs that started with whatever letter we were on. She had great fun trying to be the first to spot the word.
You really have a full plate - remember to take care of yourself. I am happily looking forward to the ALTWL Sal. I always learn something valuable from your flosstube.
Love the new mat for the Kindness piece. Really makes the piece "pop"! Looking forward to the SAL to start next week. Thank you for taking the time to do this. Can't wait until you make the Alphabet chart available.
Thank you for the explanation regarding framing and most economical use of fabric . Gave me a brilliant idea for an antique frame I purchased. Kindness looks amazing with the extra board.
Jean, thank you for the information on edging fabric! I have some Fray Check but I wasn't convinced it was really safe to use. Now I know I can add it to the edges of the aida I'm using on my "comeback" project, which has indeed begun to fray a bit though not badly. And as for stitching the edges - I was taught to use blanket stitch on the edges of every single pattern piece when sewing a garment, and carried that over when I did needlepoint years ago and later, cross stitch. I am equally happy to hear that simple overcasting will work as well and will use that method when I graduate from aida to monaco! And yes - I, too, think the purple mat is a perfect addition to Kindness.
Do you ever look at the finishes done by Javagirl or The Housewives of Cross Stitch? I think their projects are adorable, but they certainly use unconventional methods. 😁
I just was encouraged that you mentioned asking your framer to change something; I had just decided to do something similar when I just was not happy with it. She took it apart for me and I will fix the part that looked incorrect instead of being miserable with it. Can you discuss framing pieces that have been hemstitched? Thank you
Hi Mrs Farish. I’ve been listening to your videos and been learning so much thank you. My question is I’ve been wanting to get a storage bag for everyday stitching. I’ve heard the clear vinyl can stain overtime affecting the kit that one is working on. What should I stay away from if any? Thank you thank you for your informative videos. Melissa
Get a large zip-lock bag from the supermarket you would freeze food in. It will protect your work and unless you plan to keep working on it for decades it won't stain. I use the small ones as floss bags putting in a slip of paper with the name of the colour, number and symbol
Thinking about joining the SAl since I have already purchased the chart ,but do not have any fabric yet. What shade do you suggest for Aida probably a 16 or 18 count?
I am guessing that you are asking about "America Land That We Love" and if so, the answer is "yes!" ... it is 99.9% full cross stitches and backstitches.
The purple mat for Kindness Is perfect. Love the sentimental ABC piece, such wonderful memories. Take care.
Thank you!
Wonderful story about your road trips with your daughters, Jean! I love the cross stitch you created after one of your trips.

I was so surprised!

Sweet memories with the travel cross stitch piece!
Thanks!
I’m in my seventies and I can still fondly recall our hand crank wooden ice cream maker. It was very dark green.
I think ours was, too!
The purple mat REALLY makes that piece pop!!!
I was surprised. I went in with the idea that I would use the softer green!
@@JeanFarishNeedleworks Amazing how one color change can do so much!

What a difference the additional mat made to Kindness! It’s beautiful

I enjoyed hearing the story of the alphabet sampler … very heart warming. Do your daughters share your love of stitching? Have a great week!
They both enjoy it and have been stitching since they were 6 years old!

The blanket stitch would be a good choice, too but I'm not sure it would be required to do the job :)

Looking forward to the zoom calls, do you know what time and day each month that might happen?
I will send the details to the participants.

Do you have a Canadian flag to sub out on Antique Shop Design?
Yes, I do! I can't attach a file here. Send me an email and I'll send it to you (jeanfarish@gmail.com)
