Gosh i haven't eaten nasi lemak for a while! The sambal is so important for it, good sambal just makes the nasi lemak taste really good. I esp love those prepacked nasi lemak packets that u can find in some mamaks, some petrol stations or supermarkets. Something about the rice being wrapped up with the sambal and egg for a few hours seem to taste really good. But i'll only eat those fresh in the morning and not in the late afternoon. Glad you n friend enjoyed it.
Funny story… when I first moved to Malaysia I thought Nasi lemak was a dinner dish and I always bought it for sale in the evenings from a nearby mart. I wondered why it was always on sale and then I found out it has been sitting there since breakfast 😂😂

Next, pls try durian (local fruit).....some people said it's smell like hell but taste like heaven.....
You can ask for less sambal to reduce the spicy tearing taste.
She ended up eating all the sambal anyway actually ☺️
