“You’re afraid to even admit you’re afraid” that is SUCH a call-out
I personally think that the fear of the unknown is one of the most common fears...that and/or death
@@WorldWeave Oh yeah, those too. Maybe those are the top three fears:
Fear of the unknown
Fear of death
And fear of admitting your fear
@@CaptainCretaceous91 im pretty sure public speaking was 2nd most feared on earth, kinda weird
Such a shame we didn’t get to see More of Mark Strong’s Sinestro. He was almost ideal for that character. He embodied it so well.
Not almost. He was perfect for Sinestro. We may see him again in this role one day.
@LeoS What do mean he wasn’t ? Mark Strong acting was perfect as Sinestro and he looks comics accruate af. You just have a really really really bad taste.
I love that look Sinestro gives Hal when he says "Good luck Green Lantern." It's almost like you can see him starting to see WHY Abin Sur chose Hal. Mark Strong played such a phenomenal Sinestro
4:09 Sinestro was ready to fight with Hal. In the comics he's said on multiple occasions he respects Hal, he doesn't like him but holds him in high regard because of how fearless and courageous he is. That's what Sinestro was trying to teach Hal, not just to fight and create big and strong weapons, but to be fearless and have faith.
Strength of faith is everything in this universe. Having faith in yourself, the corps, your will.
great observation. He needed the go ahead from the guardians but he was ready to rock
Good point…..Also in the comics, Hal asks Sinestro “Were we ever really friends”, Sinestro replies that “That’s funny part Hal, Even after everything…We’ll always be friends” Deep moment
He was the one that wanted to take the fight to Parallax in the first place. He was ready to go the whole time.
@@3000cbreezy it was not "funny". Sinestro said "that's the tragedy of all this, Hal..." but yeah, really deep moment. I hope the next Hal Jordan GL movie can establish that friendship with sinestro first to give their rivalry depth.
“You will die, Hal Jordan.”
“Well, I’ll die trying.”
“Good luck Green Lantern.”
Hal Jordan is his name. He is a Green Lantern. What is the purpose of this comment...?
Sinestro was trained by Abin Sur, that was his mentor and he didn’t like the fact that he was being replaced by a human. He didn’t think Hal Jordan had what it took to be part of the Green Lantern corps. When Hal showed him he was willing to fight against impossible odds, he earned Sinestro’s respect and that was the moment he finally called him a Green Lantern.
Jeffrey Aguilar draake drake! he stole my whole flow word for word bar for bar
This is the moment you see Sinestro actually admire Hal. He's looking at him and thinking "This human finally understands what willpower is, perhaps he is worth my attention,"
"It saw that you have the ability to overcome fear" That is what is necessary to be a Green lantern. To act even though you are afraid.
I really like Hal's character development here. And the whole moral of the story about overcoming fear.
I love how Sinestro started to accept Hal's balls. He's like "Ok ok, maybe I was wrong about you. Go get em' boy. I salute you. "
Hal Jordan showed courage speaking his mind to the Guardians on Oa.
More like a Green Lantern that wanted to fight for his home, even though he knew it would almost certainly kill him.. Even if it meant almost certain death, Hal deserves to fight for his home planet. He'd rather fight and die in the knowledge that he did everything he could to defend his home than run away and give into his fear. That's why Sinestro didn't stop him. Because what little honor he has left in him respects Hal enough to give him the chance to defend his home, even if it against all hope of winning.
Because that's the point of the ring. That it's supposed to stand against fear. Even if Hal loses, he still did what a Green Lantern is supposed to do. When fear showed it's face, he opposed it, even in the face of almost certain death. The point of the ring is not to be a survivor because it's the smart thing to do. The point is to stand and fight when everything you love is being threatened. Sinestro became so obsessed with defeating Parallax with his own tools that he lost sight of the fact that he was already carrying a weapon capable of defeating him, he just didn't have sufficient willpower to get it done. Running away might be the sensible thing to do, but it wouldn't have been the right thing to do. The power of the ring is in the will to act, no matter what. Running away is not acting. It's the opposite of acting and therefor the opposite of what the Green Lanterns should embody.
Except for the fact that the ring can't help but act as an emotional response because all the Lanterns are based on the emotional spectrum. (Red - Rage, Blue - Hope, Pink - Love, Green - Will, Yellow- Fear, Orange - Greed and Indigo - Compassion). That's the lore this movie is based and thuse, those are the rules it has to follow. Green Lantern can't cut and run when it's the smart thing to do because his whole superpower is based on him acting through will whenever evil shows it's face.
No one ever said the Green Lanterns (or more specifically, the Guardians who created them) were smart about their philosophy. The glaring holes in their logic have been the cause of many GL stories, including this movie. But again, that's because those are the rules they chose to set up in the comics and this movie and so, that's the way things are supposed to be until they start changing some fundamentals.
@Darque Robinson how could he run then? He cannot bring the whole planet or the Solar system away from Parallax. He can choose to "live long enough" but what is the point of living when his home is destroyed?
" I know humans aren't the strongest species..or the smartest"..Brilliant
@Darque Robinson No one said "stupid ones" and as far as we are concerned we are the smartest in the universe as we are the only organisms like us we know that *exist*
@Darque Robinson I was and your comment doesn't make sense. Who says we are the smartest/dumbest species hum ?
@Darque Robinson And you clearly implied that we were the dumbest.
Mark Strong as Sinestro is damn awesome, perfect! Criminally underrated actor!
He was great as Dr.Sivana, and he would be great as Lex Luthor and even as Ras Al Ghul, no doubt about it.
Many things on this movie are great in my opinion, the guardians, OA, Tomar-Re, Kilowog, amazing soundtrack and Ryan Reynolds. But overall the movie failed BIG time because of the poor writing, cheesy scenes, bad potraying of the villain, and other stuff.
Had so much more potential! But one day they will make justice to Green Lantern! My favorite DC superhero.
They will brother. When they do, all the fans will rejoice.
The only problem I had with Sinestro was the after credit scene when he takes the yellow ring. Didn’t make sense Jordan just proved that will was stronger why take the ring then.
@@jamesrwc4738 the sets themselfs while in Vaccum where good also felt well, in Vaccum. No real ommpth to the world of oa outside CG land. Actually it's the same kinda with Thanos planet in infinity war. So annoying to feel emptiness in a large sized planet.
I love this movie. It’s so fantastic in its over all theming about fear and how to handle it to do the right thing for the greater good. It DOES NOT deserve the hate it’s getting.
This film has grown on me. The subtle message is brilliant.
While I wouldn't say that it was THAT subtle, I really like how it gave a message about "overcoming your fear" instead of forcing ourselves to believe that we can be fearless, and being unable to admit to ourselves and to others that we ARE and CAN BE afraid, in which said message was given in a way that made sense in the plot and was put on subtly enough to not be shoved down our throats, atleast in my opinion.
The movie itself is, in certain ways, a mess, but I have to admit that it is a BEAUTIFUL mess, atleast in my opinion.
The greatest feat Ryan Reynold accomplished in Green Lantern is he landed Blake Lively
@Eric Velasquez - true, but if you look at her, you might even think it was worth enduring a movie that didn't do so well to find a partner like her. She's not so hard to look at.
Working with Mark Strong and Michael Clarke Duncan is fantastic too.
Its too bad, Ryan Reynolds looks so much like Hal Jordan.
I think Chris Pratt looks more like him, but I do agree he looks similar
@@Zeemis That's because they wrote him as Kyle Rayner. Seriously, if this was Kyle's story it wouldn't have been to bad. But Hal would never have that cliche moment of self doubt going on. He doesn't know what doubt is. He goes balls first into everything.
They even spell it out. "The ring didn't see that you were fearless, it saw that you had the ability to overcome fear." That's Kyle's whole deal once Geoff Johns started writing GL and introduced Parallax. Hal is straight up the man without fear.
And this is NOTHING like Guy.
@@jordan999fire nah Chris Pratt is more of a Guy Gardner in my opinion. Perfect casting if you ask me. He might actually get people to like Guy for once lmfaoooo
Hal was never afraid. He was always a risk-taker adrenaline junkie, something the script got wrong
Ironically, by canon, he had a great deal of fear. It was one of the reasons yellow objects couldn't be affected by his ring, until he overcame it.
It doesn't mean he wasn't. He just kept hiding it inside, but everybody has fear within, we just try to not show it.
@@ClockworkGearhead well that was something the guardians did to protect themselves, Hal broke that though
They said this movie is a flop. But this scene is amazing.
I love this film. I love this scene! Hal's speech is one of a true comic-book Superhero!
Hal Jordan: "Let me go fight for my world and I'll show you that WILL is stronger than FEAR"
Sinestro: "Why you little..."
Only way to overcome fear is to face your fears. No matter how scary they are, and how afraid you are, you got stand and fight that fear.
Sinestro at 4:09 was like "hmmm...maybe this human has a point"
Sinestro was the best part of this movie and this scene always makes me feel proud to be human!
I don't know why everyone shits on this movie. I like it!
people confuse bad cgi with a bad film kinda sad it made ryn hate this roll without ever seeing it cuse he thinks his fans hate it so much.
Yeah. And even the acting in here in just as good as any other movie I've seen. I really don't think the producers would've allowed for anything less for The Green Lantern Movie. It looks fine to me.
I don't get it either, not my favorite movie but I've seen FAR worse than this.
This is why Nevile Longbottom would be the best Green Lantern.
Fear doesn’t make you a coward any more than not feeling fear makes you brave.
Courage and bravery are having the willpower to act even though you’re afraid. It’s not letting fear hold you back.
this whole green lantern thing has lot of potential, they need to reboot it ASAP-
I wished I’ve seen this scene sooner especially when he stand up for himself, it’s so cool!
It shows how and why Steve is so weak with the ring at first, it’s not like he’s done it before.
"Good luck Green Lantern"
@@dankmemer2774 i dont understand people like you, you see a movie clip of a movie you hate on youtube and you click on it just to shut down other peoples opinions? who hurt you so bad that you have to shit on others to feel something.
This movie has been trash-talked into oblivion, but looking back it was actually pretty good
It is beautiful how Mark Strong's acting almost looks like Sinestro regrets his thoughts and Jordan should actually be the leader, the humility and sacrifice is staggering his heart. That's the acting you can't really see on comics, games nor animations only in movies.
the first guardian has a really elegant & impressive voice
that moment if pure respect out of sinestro is gold.To go from thinking jordan is a weak foolish human, to calling him a true green lantern, MMM hits ya in the feels
Hal went from someone not worthy to wear Sinestro's mentor's ring, to "Good Luck Green Lantern," this movie had its moments
This was actually a great movie.
"Ability to overcome fear" some good lines here
I loved Green Lantern... with R. R. and would love to see more of him. Could be a celluloid goldmine.
It's interesting how there's a campaign to hate this movie when in reality it's awesome.
Taika Watiti just there thinking *Now I know the things to avoid when I make my comic book movie*
you are man of steel. thats true. that the will is stronger than fear
You know, in The DCEU, I REALLY hope they make a Green Lantern Trilogy. It'd be awesome. A Man of Steel and Wonder Woman Trilogy would be awesome as well.
If it were up to me, I would've made the movies in this order and Created the DCEU like this :
Man of Steel
Wonder Woman
The Batman
The Justice League
Green Lantern Corps
The Flash
Aquaman
Shazam
Suicide Squad (R16)
Justice League ll
Man of Steel ll
Wonder Woman ll
Batman ll
The Green Lantern ll
Flashpoint
Gotham Sirens
Suicide Squad ll (R16)
Wonder Woman lll
Man of Steel lll
Batman lll
Green Lantern lll
The Justice League lll
I don't know what y'all think of this maybe it's dumb and maybe I'm outta my mind but I think this fits.
I would make it like this. That's for the first phrase
Batman Year 1
Batman 2 (Introducing Robin)
Man of Steel
World's Finest (Batman and Superman team up)
WW
Green lantern
The Flash
Justice League
i would make sth completely different :
vandal Savage (movie to introduce then a short tv series)
Etrigan // Green lantern corps (same year)
Jonah Hex
IKR JUST FUCK AQUAMAN!! As if Justice League didn't prove his worth as an interesting character.
I think DC made some mistakes initially. First one was making a Superman movie with his entire origin. I think that was dumb. Superman, along with Batman and Spidey are from a group of heroes that actually never need a origin story. Simply because they are too mainstream. The origin story in man of steel consumed too much time. I think it would've been better if they introduced Luthor in that one. Showing a young Clark Kent arriving in Metropolis. General Zod could've come on in a later movie. Maybe Man of Steel 2.
Another mistake was casting an old Batman. Instead they should've done a Batman Year 1 style movie, which ofcourse should've been a 7-8 year prequel to Man of Steel. In the movie they should've showed off Batman's prowess and detective abilities. Joker should be the bad guy. Making him take on Solomon Grundy like villain at one point of the movie. This would lay down the foundation of Batman being a serious threat in the future JL movies.
This movie should then be followed by the obvious "World's Finest" movie. Instead of BvS. I think Luthor is the perfect villain for this. There should be an important part for Wonder Woman at some point. Basically similar to BvS except no fight between heroes and no Doomsday. Doomsday is a beast of a supervillain and shouldn't be misused like this. He could feature in his own Superman film.
After that I wouldn't change Wonder Woman much. It was a great movie. Except I would add some references to Atlantis.
Then comes Green Lantern. Green Lantern is a great addition. Showing Hal gives them an oppurtunity to explore the wider universe. Same what Guardians of the galaxy did for Marvel. They could also lay down the foundation for Darkseid in that.
After that comes Justice League. I wouldn't add Aquaman or Cyborg to that. Instead we can have Batman, Superman, Wonderwoman, GL, Flash. And Martian Manhunter. They can show Manhunter arriving on earth for help from Braniac or something. With Braniac being the main baddie. I mean who gives a shit about fucking SteppenWolf?
After the foundations of the universe are laid.
The phase 2 should go like this.
Suicide Squad (with a significant part for Batman)
Flash and Cyborg
Superman 2 (General Zod is the villian and an important part played by MM)
Aquaman
Shazam vs Black Adam!
Justice League 2 (bad guys are injustice League)
Batman 2 (Death of Robin)
Wonder Woman 2
Green Lantern 2 (with Shazam)
Justice League: War part 1
Green Arrow
Zatanna
Justice League: War Part 2
Young Justice or Teen Titans
Death Stroke
Aquaman 2
Batman v Superman (Joker kills Lois)
Flashpoint
I'm scared that I can't be scared
Good stuff. Love these DCEU moments.
I love this movie! A sequel should be in the works!
This Film given me so much will power. What a fabulous movie. I like it.
I saw this movie before I read all reviews, and I loved it to be honest.
Honestly I’m not sure why people hate this so much as a kid this was both amazing and yet horrifying with parallax and the casting I think was perfect I can’t really see who else can play both roles so good for Hal and Sinestro no matter what everyone say this still remains as one of my favorites
This film was actually epic😃😃😃👍🏻👍🏻😎😎!!! I love it😃😃😃👍🏻👍🏻😎😎!!! I like it how sinestro starts to respect him here because he’s over coming his fears
I liked the casting and most of the cgi but feel Sinestro should have been the bad guy do it kinda like a space version of Training Day. The really bad part of this movie is the villain
William Moffit I thought parallax was actually a awesome villain the very embodiment of fear it’s self I just hate that fear is yellow in this fear should really be purple
@@zacimusprime4865 parallyx isn't a bad villian but I do think it was wring choose for the first movie .

I mean, yes this movie does look horrendous in some scenes, but I dont think it deserves all the hate it gets
long story short: please remake Green Lantern
In my subtitles they called green lantern greenland
Dam. I'm starting to think sinestro is playing mark strongs life and not the other way around. Dude is perfect for the role.
"Why are you not fearless?" "Because I'm afraid." ... yeah top notch writing there...
Um..that’s not how the dialogue played out at all and she never asked why he wasn’t fearless.
Hal said such powerful words to the Guardians about humanity.

“Green Lantern” is one of my favorite superhero characters in comics besides Spider-man, Wolverine, Flash, Superman, and more. I would love to see another solo green lantern movie someday but actor Nathan Fillion played the “Guy Gardner” version of green lantern in the upcoming film/movie
“Superman Legacy”. There’s not many things I’m into I’m mostly just a fan of live action superhero films and sports but mostly “basketball only”.
This what I love about this movie facing your fears
- But I'm not without fear...
- Without fear there cannot be courage.

Ironically this role was perfect for Ryan ..His Deadpool character basically Ryan just playing himself
Oh now I get it the green lantern ring choose him just to choose him, it chosen him for a purpose to make a difference into believing himself an over his fearing obstacles to gain strength and motivation brilliant 👏.
1:25 I think there should have been a moment here to say that to be AFRAID is to have power. To be afraid is what gives Hal his power.
No matter what people say I still love this movie
Say what you will but that is a good line. Being afraid to admit you're afraid is no different. It is still fear.
I love this movie.
i dunno i actually enjoyed this movie
i know story wise and acting it was a failure by many but ryan my Canadian bro can make anything enjoyable

He's a lot of balls though I'll give him that.
super saiyan Goodman II. Fr tho, especially bf he called the guardians “afraid”
he says "Because I'm afraid" and everybody is shocked at the revelation, even though he was clearly hinting towards him being afraid? "You need to be fearless" "so why cant you do it" "wut?" lol
Tydeus She like, *really* wanted to know why Hal was running away from the situation, what was the thing that was scaring him the most.
Wow I can't believe I'm saying this but now that Justice League and Batman v Superman was out now this movie doesn't seem so bad.
Levi THANK YOU!!! The reason B stopped tryna kill S was stupid af and Lex...wasn’t himself...but the rest of the movie was aight
Justice League sucked tho 🤣Id take Green Lantern over Justice League anytime...but Green Lantern isn’t so bad it’s funny so Idk..

Nice subtitles
Mark Strong and the make up for Sinestro were perfect. A shame the movie wasnt better to carry a sequal.
The human will can never be broken
Interesting how the yellow ring looks sickly.
Mark Strong was good as the villain in “John Carter” and as the loyal sidekick in Kingsman.
Very good actor.
I didn’t think the movie was bad, but it doesn’t help the RR shits on it every chance he gets.😥
I would argue RIPD is a much worse RR vehicle, but it just gets ignored.
I hope they do something decent with GL. One of my favorites growing up.
I cant do it , I'm not worthy...something bad happens, I can do it now I found inner courage & strength...comic book movies heros
This movie wasn't as bad as people say it was, in a movie like this there really was no way you could ever have "good" CGI
I mean kilowog and Tomar Re look great even in 2022 even better that thanos in some cases

That should’ve been sold in stores ASAP.
It should have been even if it was amount the rings sold with the action figures
I wanted more Green Lantern because we needed to see Mark Strong doing Sinestro's fall.
this movie was a good movie, i dont know why so many bad reviews
this movie had a pretty dank score
When I first saw this movie I was mesmerized in a way. It’s when I became a fan of GL as a kid/teen. Now that I’m looking back, this movie definitely hit the nail in the coffin for one of my favorites. Back then I didn’t know much about the “lore” of GL but imo Injustice games gave me a slight idea while also opening my eyes to multiverse theory (technically TFS did as well). I was curious as to Sinestro’s nonsense with becoming a yellow lantern and was Sinestro Corps the original name or was it the standard Yellow Lantern Corp before sinestro joined.
Do you know now or do you want an explanation because I can give you answers up to 2013 maybe 14
I'll keep being one of the few people who enjoyed this movie. cgi was cool, casting was good..the story was also good, they only rushed it too much..they made one movie with a story that could've very well been enough for 2 movies, maybe even a trilogy.
best movie ever
you are frearless but and strongest man
They look so good togheter.... oh wait.
Imagination is creative
Fear is stonger than will no argument needed.
Man, just thinking about this movie makes my head hurt. But I'm totally open for a reboot 10 years later

Hal: At what cost?
The basic premise and OA were so well done.. just got derailed by the scientist getting infected with yellow fear subplot.
Casting was perfect. Ryan looks so much like Hal Jordan in the comics and he plays him so well. And sinestro is literally perfect
The part where Hal puts fourth his own life to take on Parallax alone is so awesome and when he turns to Sinnestro and says:
"....and I'll show you that will is stronger than fear."
Is just epic.
The cgi wasn't even that bad everyone acts like it was Bollywood bad but I dont even notice it
Justice league was so much worse
I just think it's crazy that they found a human that looks like Sinnestro
I think the problem was the story and script, but it had potential
